This is a bit of a departure from my typical motovlogs and I'm not sure how it'll go over, so let me know what you think! Should I keep experimenting? Or should I forget the talking head and stick to what I do best?
You should add this type of stuff into your videos. Show your hotel or campgrounds, what type of foods you’re eating, how the towns look. It’s all part of the adventure and makes the experience more immersive. Thanks!
Brother, there's been a lot of Bike-porn out there these days... As the year comes to an end, lots of launches of new-year's models, reviews and upgrades, the usual visual gold. But there's something just comforting to get in the saddle with you and just tagging along those curves, even being an Ocean +half a Continent apart Hope you're enjoying the ride, that's the most important, and as always, thks for caring and for sharing. Best regards from PORTUGAL. RESPECT.
Thanks for tagging along! Not much sense fawning over the hot new models when I've got such an amazing bike in my garage that I can actually ride right now.
Amazing videos! You are such an inspiration. Great style and awesome videography with a good mix of different riding perspectives and external shots. So fun to watch. I finally got into riding motorcycles a couple months ago and picked up a used 2020 Street Twin. Now I wish I had gotten the Speed Twin! Appreciate you sharing your loadout, as this is something I want to get into, so it helps in seeing what experienced riders have for the essentials. Also great to see what's capable on a similar bike. I'm jealous of the awesome trips you take and hope to experience myself someday. Stay safe and keep up the great work! Awesome bit at the end of the video. Route 50 is 1 mile from my home in Southern Indiana and I'm on it almost every day. Excited to know I'm so close to a major east-west route and my goal is to go cross country someday.
Thank you very much! That Street Twin will serve you very well as your first motorcycle. It can do 90% of what I did on this trip with ease, and the other 10% in only mild discomfort.
I’m lucky enough to live in Northern Colorado, my wife and I did pretty much the same route as this in August 2020. 141 was my favorite part of the trip, no traffic and amazing corners. A bear Cub crossed the road about 200 feet ahead of me, luckily I caught him on camera too. We also rode down Portal Rd to the Crystal Dam in the Black Canyon. That is a bumpy ride, my wife was pretty sore from her Street Triple after that. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Great videos, you’ve got a new subscriber!
Found your channel yesterday. Enjoying your videos man. I toured from VA to the West Coast back in 2016, so this is a fun nostalgia trip to watch. Colorado National Monument is awesome!
Wow, sure glad I found this channel, probably my favourite bike, but that scenery in Colorado is just stunning, thank you for showing me around, I'm based in the UK.
greetings from Virginia, just ran across your channel a few videos back. thanks for your content and much devoted time. I am inspired and longing for an excursion. I just earned my MC license June 2022 and purchased a Bonnie T120. I am looking forward to taking short trips some time soon.
Welcome to the fold! The T120 is a fantastic tourer, much more comfortable and highway-capable than the Speed Twin is. You'll have some great times on it.
@@VanBlamm thanks for the reply. Just trailered the Bonnie down to Naples, Florida for the week prior to IAN hitting, had an awesome time cruising around, and just recently went to the Blue Ridge Parkway and did about 60 miles.
Great. Looking forward to your next vid; I am planning a tour on my Speed Twin out West next year so interested in your “what would i do differently” commentary.
Thanks for another good video makes me enjoy my speed twin even more can you please tell me what drone you use I like the portability of it and would like to purchase one
It's a DJI Mavic Air, with the Fly More combo. They have now replaced it with the Mavic Air 2, although a refurbished original version with the Fly More combo currently costs the same as a new base model Air 2. (Old: amzn.to/2IBZkBg) (New: amzn.to/3gC0rNT)
Great video 👍 been thinking of buying a speed twin but heard a lot of worrying stories about recalls, gearbox issues and poor customer service. Have you experience any of this with yours?
I can only speak to my own experience, which is that at almost 6K miles I have had no issues with the gearbox. No leaks, no funny noises, nothing. I heard about one guy whose T120 blew up its gearbox at 20K miles, and Triumph's recommendation was to change the oil twice as often. So that's what I'll be doing, just to be safe. There were also a couple of recalls for other minor gearbox issues but my VIN wasn't listed. Do the stories worry me? A little bit. Do they worry me enough that I'd stop riding the bike? No way.
@@VanBlamm thanks for the reply! I guess it’s one of those things where you only hear the negative and not all the times where nothing has gone wrong. 👍
@@BobC777 he certainly has. I’m thankful for it. They really dropped the ball on dealing with him. Completely turned me off from them even though I love the looks of their Bonnie lineup, I can’t chance the issues he has brought up.

I’m 5’7” with a 31” inseam. It’s the lowest motorcycle I have and it’s no problem at all. You’ll be fine. Unless of course you’re 5 feet of body and 7 inches of leg... Edit: just sat on mine tonight and with the shocks set at half way round the preload setting I can get both feet flat on the floor in a pair of Adidas ‘Stan Smith’. This is probably the first bike I’ve owned that I’ve been able to ‘properly’ flat foot. I checked tonight as I only got the bike five days ago. I rode it home 430 miles and parked it up. Today is the first time I’ve seen it since then.
Great video, although I've like all your videos to date... keep up the good work, keep experimenting, I'm sure we - your subscribers - will tell you when you put a foot wrong ;-) On another point, funding, TMF (TheMissendenFlyer) runs a Patreon page where he asks for only a couple of bucks a month, gives him something towards ancillaries and camera kit and the like... strikes me that's more your style than a full Patreon subscription... food for thought...

Thanks! What bike did you do it on? I'd love to do a proper US tour but I think I'd need to step up to an FJR or GS or something.
@@VanBlamm For sure man! Did it on a 2004 Honda Shadow 750! Definitely could have used a 1200cc back then for the highway miles though.

Nice tip about route 50. I used to liver in VA and have driven on 50 myself. Fantastic series of videos.
So appreciate the drone footage and appreciate the beauty out there! Also think it's awesome that you include practical info - very useful tips.

Excellent video. I too ride a speed twin. It sure is a classic bombshell....😬😬. But where do you use the helmet lock on the bike ..... 🤔
@Itchyboots scarf :P Again, great video man. I envy your journey. Wish I could do the same trip on my Speed Twin.
Good eye! I still haven't worn it because the weather wasn't nearly as cold as I'd expected...
Itchy Boots and Revit stuff. Good to see the Dutch are well represented!! 🇳🇱

Great video as always, enjoyed the slightly different format!
Thanks!
Love this! Thanks for sharing.
Great videos. Love it. Where I can get those bar end mirrors if you don’t mind.
Thanks! They're actually the factory mirrors that come on the bike
My ST is wrapped in a giant plastic bag for the U.K. winter and I so miss that sound!
Man, maybe I’ll do a cross country tour on route 50 now. Wouldn’t that be something. Great video as always.
I'd be very interested in doing the Nevada section. America's Loneliest Road, they call it.

How tall are you? I’m considering one of these, my height excludes me from some bikes. I’m 5’7” tall or (170 cm)
I am just under 5'9. I can get the balls of both feet down, but only one heel at a time. Maybe both heels if I had some really thick boots.
