Ricardo Luna Another point is that the larger number of drumlines comes from high school marching bands, which do not have the technical capability as a Blue Devil might.
Thanks for the encouraging words. Would you know what sticks Manny is using? Like I mentioned, I know they are VicFirth sticks, I'd just like to know the length and weight, because they have my favorite tip on them.
anyone notice the stick click on the last run thru..I just watched this today and I already have the first note down pat but that click stood out like a sore thumb.Give me about 4 or 5 years at my practice speed not tempo and I'll have most of this down pretty good.
Awesome, a...what kind of sticks are you using?, I know they are VicFirth, but what length, weight, etc., because I like the tip (ball tip). Thanks and God Bless.
Thanks Damien, I didn't mean to down-play your totally "Awesome" video lesson. I have been playing the drum set for over 40 yrs now, 20 semi-pro and professionally. However, man you just blew my mind with your talent, speed, precision, and the ease with which you perform. Playing very complicated patterns with a the stick tricks in as well. Sick man, sick. All the best my friend, stay loose and happy drumming. Wow, couldn't even hold a candle to ya' man, you're just that good. But then again, I am not all that good. Had a little stroke in 2000 and did not play again until 2006, and then I had to start all over again. But, I'm getting there, it's just coming slower than I had hoped because I am getting up there in years, and now a lot of old injuries from car accidents, motorcycle accident (just 1, but that's enough, had to learn how to walk all over again on that one, street fight beatings and years of full contact martial arts. But, "I Refuse To Give Up". I want to be the drummer I once was. I practice "every day" and I now play for God in our Worship Band. So, yeah, God Bless to you and yours and take care, and thanks again for taking the time to answer my question. Cal Talbot
As a 52yr old (Hobby drummer only). I'm wondering why guys like yourself aren't top rated drummers? I'm sure many are. These skills I'm (just learning) from these methods, tear up other regular drumming. Since most are collage intelligence, they prefer being lawers or? Instead of well under 100k for top regular drummer. Just my observation. I'll stick to learning this, and the 5 piece kit. Cheers.
highly specialized skills with little transfer over to more lucrative styles. most of these high level dci and wgi drummers either bail and use the talent towards other styles of drumming or they didn't intend to make this a career path. a very small portion of them manage to make a career out of teaching.
Hey I'm not a hater or whatever but I don't understand the point of learning looong ass rudiments like these. Why dont you learn the simple patterns (paradiddles and shit) and then you just go on practicing or improvising? I think you'll never have to use long rudiments like this one in a song. Wether it is jazz, ska or any kind of music with an important drum. So why learning such long patterns?
It's not something to play in music, it IS the music. It's just something cool to learn and play with a snareline or a few friends. That's all. It will help you get better.
almost forgot to watch this today
Love the ATDI reference.
16th notes at 200 bpm: *exist*
Normal people: Ok we'll stick this RLRLRLRLRLRLRLRL
Emmanuel Deleon: *Ok we'll stick this RLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL*
I would LOVE to see an entire snare line try and play it.
The chops are strong with this one. Fucking obviously.
dear VIC FIRTH: when Emmanuel Deleon do a video lesson record it using 4k + SLOW MO! ant least 360 fps, for god sake !
At 9:04 ish it notates it as being a R shot, but its played as a left Shot so that measure would be "RllLllR"
But these videos are really great Vic Firth, keep it up! Thanks!
I saw that to, but think its just marking the stick trick
Esteban dominguez yeah i think ur right
0:31
You tell that to the Blue Devils.
DCI wise, blue devils aren't the really the cleanest. Have you heard the cadets?
+aPattyson have u heard cadets? There is literally no dirt lol
+Steven Lanier if you can't tell what makes them cleaner you should not be judging them technically.
He used to BE a blue devil didn't he?
Ricardo Luna Another point is that the larger number of drumlines comes from high school marching bands, which do not have the technical capability as a Blue Devil might.
Holy fucking shit that was bad ass.
Michael Angelo Rivera chill
You guys should make a video explaining the basics to marching snare (Rudiments, Sticking, & How to hold the sticks)
5:07 “LH hi mom” lol
But can you play seven nation army tho
lol
That was some very good drumming!
So when is he available to teach me?
For measure 4, the backstick is easier if you extend your arm a bit past the drumpad. This decreases the distance from the stick to the drumhead.
awesome more tutorials

8:04 I believe they are called blams
what happened with the sheet music, and with all the other lessons in the vic firth education resource center? :c
Bruh risks one of those rams that sounds good whether slow or up to tempo

if it wern't for stick clicks I'd have to play all those flips ,hi-moms and the others.
How’s this lick coming along?
Cold blooded!!
Does someone know where i could get the exact same snare? (or really similar to it)
Just look up Vic Firth practice pad and you should find it
I'm curious to see how someone so ridiculously skilled play on the drum set.
th-cam.com/video/Jcb8TlGh97M/w-d-xo.html
One correction: at 8:40- the and of two of the first measure should be a left hand, not a right. Great video!
nope... RLR R R LRL L L is correct.
Sorry- 8:38. The first measure. Not the second. It's a left hand rimshot on the and of beat two. not a right hand.
+Vic Firth yup he played it wrong and also what pad is that, slim or stock?
+SynC Rage Slim.

It's not a rudimant dummy it's a lick it's just called a rudimental ram because of all of the rudiments inside of it
