I have been running an Atlas for a while now. I did not know I could go from rear wheel low to rear wheel high at any kind of speed! I will have to check that out. And you are right, rear wheel low range is the awesome! I spend most of my wheeling time in rear wheel low configuration and then easily add the front wheels in when I think I need them.
On my 01 BoostedXPLR Sport (t-bird supercoupe Eaton m90 s/c) I installed a switch where I can basically disable the viscous clutch in the t-case that goes to the front driveshaft and have rear 2wd low or I can flick the switch back the other way and have 4wd low, but I guess I would like to be able to have low and high on front wheel drive only lol, I just dont see where I would ever need front wheel drive only unless it saved some ⛽ lol, but I'd still like to have the control of an Atlas like this guy. I def need one, it seemed like their was a time where Atlas transfer cases were hard to come by but now apparently they're all over the interweb lol. I prolly won't get one for my supercharged V6 01 explorer sport 2 door but when I get myself an 02 explorer 4.6 V8 4 door I'm definitely getting an Atlas t-case like the one in this video, plus I'll do a 6r80 (with selectshift) swap and a SOHC to DOHC swap plus a supercharger and more so im def gonna need a trans and tcase that can handle some power. Good vid, you explained the operation of this tcase pretty well.
The jk hubs are permanently locked bud. The arent auto hubs or manual hubs. Just locked. So you would lock your hubs when u air down making you the same as the vehicle in this video.
Do the come for an automatic ford 6R80 transmission. Mainly because I have an older bronco and installing the coyote with the 6speed automatic 6R80. And the use of it will be towing boats, going muddying, rock climbing at times not so often, sand and occasional snow. And my differentials gearing is 4.56 front and rear with 35-37 in tires
Can you run this in front wheel drive high? Say you ran out of fixin' parts and or you bitched your rear drive shaft (and the spare) could you take off the mangled mess and run home in front wheel drive? -cheers
Id like to get the atlas 2 speed for my 09 f150. I know you sell an adapter for this. My question is would i need new drive shafts, crossmember shifters, and linkage? If so do you sell a kit that covers some of these issues?
Is it possible to use a 2 speed case with an IFS? Looking at swapping something like this in in my S Series Blazer or converting a AWD Astro van with and a 231 T-case
@@mavallarino I wasn't the OP. I was just curious. Reading comments further down, it seams the front drive-line is not strong enough to hold up to highway duty on its own. That makes scene to me.

Okay... Can I leave the rear axle in N and drive FWD if I really wanted to? What would happen if I tried that option? Also, does your unit not have the 3rd lever?
no 3rd stick on an Atlas 2 spd unit. and to answer your question about the FWD, only in low range. The front wheel only high range 2 wheel drive is locked out, as a rear wheel drive vehicle is not safe to operate and steer at speed when in 2wd high.

Basically, you're a bonafide Eyenstien...
Sorry the front wheel only high range 2 wheel drive is locked out, as a rear wheel drive vehicle is not safe to operate and steer at speed when in 2wd high.
That's a load of BS, we have front wheel drive cars, they operate the same way as disengaging the rear axle in a rear wheel drive and running on the front axle.
orrrrrrr you can just come to a complete stop and put the transmission in neutral and then shift the transfer case into low range, yknow, the way that isnt going to damage your transfer case or transmission
Found this out the hard way. Prep yourself before getting up the grade. I was jn a scenario where my 4hi front and rear was engaged and then i needed 4lo front and rear and i couldn't engage. So i had to back down into a spot where i was then able to safely pop into 4l0
Mike Romero I’ve had the 4-speed version in my ‘69 F250 and ‘48 Power Wagon for several years and never had an issue. I have a 1978 F350 with a 4 speed + Advanced Adapters gear splitter and still...not one problem. You may have something else going on there.

Professional and comprehensive video , my question is could atlas 4 be installed on 2012 toyota land cruiser lc200 ? Thanks
What does it cost do get this set up in a 2001 jeep Cherokee XJ????
That was a very informative video thanks for posting it.
Can one change ratio in a two speed atlas ? Say from 3:1 to a 5:1, or is that factory only.
Is there a video like this for the 4 speed?
I’m thinking of switching but never seen a 4 speed in the flesh.
Is the process any different with a vehicle that you have to manually lock the front hubs for four wheel drive?
The jk hubs are permanently locked bud. The arent auto hubs or manual hubs. Just locked. So you would lock your hubs when u air down making you the same as the vehicle in this video.
Well-presented. Thanks.
Can you drive on the highway with the front axle engaged and the rear in neutral??
only in low range called front dig atlas locks out front axle in high because front axle is not strong enough for highway driving alone.

I paid $7000 for mine plus a 9 month wait

Can you drive in 2 WD High range front axle only? That would be awesome, a front wheel drive pickup. Like a front wheel drive car.
Yes you could, super dangerous though.

The Atlas will not physically let you shift into two separate ranges at the same time.

I am curious to know how he got his Jeep up to 25-30 miles per hour when in low? I have a stick, 6th gear I can only get up to 12-15 miles per hour.
That's cause he basically shifted from RWD to frontwards wheel drive while in basically hyper wheel drive...basically...

why there are two nobs for 4x4. Can someone explain? ??
one knob/lever controls the 2wd, 4wd, and Nuetral of the front axle and one controls the 2wd, 4wd, and Nuetral for the rear.
front/rear. HNL/HNL
