Or that if they died with Covid, it’s stated that they died FROM Covid. And then the nurses being censored, and then the lab leak “conspiracy theory” being censored. I disagree that any sort of investigation is required. Fauci lied before congress. The case is shut and closed there. He needs to be removed from his position of power and held accountable for that, bare minimum. Once he is no longer able to leverage power to cover for his crimes, then a real investigation can be done.

If Rand had any clue what he was talking about, I'd agree. The problem is, he really doesn't. Technically, going by the specific wording of the moratorium on "gain of function" viral studies, Fauci's telling the truth. The NIH didn't illegally fund "gain of function" studies. They could have done a much better job of auditing/inspecting the studies they were funding (especially the Wuhan lab) but no laws were broken and implying otherwise like Rand did is simply irresponsible.

We didn't have nearly enough masks to protect the front line healthcare workers as they cared for infected patients early on. We didn't even have enough later on either, when Trump could have used the war powers production act to scale up availability. Without having enough masks for those in direct care of covid's victims, many more thousands would have died. The fact is many hundreds of thousands did die because of criminally bad leadership from Trump, who shut down the rapid response pandemic team that would have been in China in November of 2019 when it first was getting started. And who glad handed the thread away in January and February. Shutting down flights from China when it was coming at us from Europe was spitting in the wind.
Once the virus became a pandemic, and everyone was vulnerable, CDC, NIH, and Fauci advised everyone to wear masks to contain the spread.
Once it really got out of control, and it was clear it was transmitted almost entirely by aerosols, they recommended double masking. After the novel coronavirus became more fully understood.
If you bothered trying to understand the march of the pandemic even an inch thick, all of this would have been perfectly obvious. You didn't bother. That's not Fauci's fault. You just didn't bother hearing what he had to say.

ggvbayarea Oakland Politics isn’t the way to get to the truth. Rand Paul doesn’t care about truth he cares about scoring political points. We need people who are as unbiased and unmotivated by profit or self-protection as possible who also truly understand the kind of virology research in question. I don’t by default trust we are getting the full scope of the truth from Fauci but Rand Paul ain’t the guy to be ferreting out truth on this matter. If you don’t like whatever doctor you are referring to or his/her answers, that doesn’t make Curly Q here more credible.
