- In this video I give a quick review of 10 Space/Sci-fi themed DOOM WADs. Despite DOOM being a sci-fi game that takes place in outer space, it doesn't feel or look like it most of the time. But the 10 WADs in this video will definitely immerse you in space!

Thanks for giving Lunar Laceration a mention! It was made in one month for last year's NaNoWADMo as an homage to Lunatic, which is one of my favourite wads. I'm glad you liked the outdoors-y parts, they were definitely the most fun (if time-consuming!) to make.

I liked the whole Wolfenstein enemies in space thing going on in Occult Secrets. Fun stuff.
when it comes to ANY Doom Mod. I fully appreciate every single sprite. the amount of work that goes into these wads are phenomenal! I'm a one man team at the moment so I know what it takes. awesome video btw its good to know about those superb space wads. my favorite theme.
Pretty neat video! As for presentation, i think it's fine as it. It's not too rudimentary, kept fairly short and sweet and the pace is decent for the format of the video. Maybe next time (Or sometime at some point) you could perhaps take a look at some gameplay overhaul mods and weapon packs? Stuff like Hearts of Demons, Treasure Tech, Guncaster, Trailblazer, Russian Overkill etc etc. You get the idea.

this video really helped me to get more wads to play with doom ii, also, there are TC that makes doom a role play game (aside for strife: VE or heretic series) than roguelike or multiplayer mods.

That’s one I’m preparing for too. I collect thematic WADs and when I think I have enough I play through em and write a quick general review, record then edit.

On the topic of space adventure, have you ever played Starsector? It's a shit ton of fun and the modding community is crazy.

Space Cats Saga is quite good
I love space and it's kinda shame that there aren't that many space wads, I have an abandoned space project, where you escape demonic invasion on earth with a spaceship, then you fight in space with no gravity, then you land on moon and explore the environment, just like an open world. After exploring you find gigantic space station, kick some demon ass, explode the whole station and escape it with another spaceship. After that you go on Mars, find the main location of demonic spawn point and destroy it, then you come back to earth and live peacefully lol. Anyways I wrote bunch of nonsense, would love to work on it if I had more time and skill

BTSX 1 and 2 have to be my favorite
I remember Icarus' review of The Fold and how much he hated it.
Hellebarde, used enemies from Heretic. I loved fighting the Minotaur.
My favorite Doom WADs are the ones that include new enemies and weapons.
This is a very nice list, but i recommend "Doom Darkstar". Its a perfect map if you want to play something like DOOM 3 in DOOM 2. The wad is a 2 levels in a spaceship and a boss battle in the hell
Occult Secrets sure reminds me of the film Iron Sky.
How I love looking at the Marathon shotgun without actually having yo think about Marathon:)
hm...I haven't seen you make a vid about the Time Tripper wad by Emma Essex yet. While it is openly inspired on Ancient Aliens. It has its own music and interesting maps.

On lunatic and lunar laceration, were you using an additional mod for the weapons? When I booted them up it seems to just be the standard doom 2 weapons

what modes are you using to have those ammo in lunatic ? i cant seem to ever start with the same weapons as you do even if I load the mods u posted

Yes but the nature of my creation process doesn’t allow for a video idea that sounds so simple to be produced quickly. I would have to play all the TCs in the video to completion to form a quick review on them, then script it, and collect good footage for all of them to highlight the good and the bad. For this space wads video I had to play all of them.

Yes I will make one listing all the mods I can find to bring back things from previous games. Might do parts as it'll be A LOT. And a fast paced video. But not now I'll take it on in a few more weeks when I'm done with uni

Those are good choices of Space maps for Doom but... Are there any community made maps/megawads that are much urban? I have the enemy pack of Delta Force and Hell from Earth but I couldn't find a much more thematic and appropriate urban themed Doom megawad/map (anything but those map generators. It's too much dead ends and hard to navigate)

I actually pistol started lunatic on uv and died just 3 times total.
To me that basically means it's piss easy compared to stuff like btsx and ancient aliens where I die well over a dozen times in most levels past the map 5 mark in btsx and past map 6 in ancient aliens.
Everyone has a unique playstyle, and I love to move a lot and get up close with the demons and right in the middle of the action. Just how I like to play so of course I might find certain WADs hard.

The Fold version that’s on Doom World is leaps and bounds better than the one on Zdoom
Space maps feel too sterile for me. I like seeing trees and grass. The green floors was a smart choice.

I mention them at the end of the video and the monster mods I used are in the description. Final Doomer + and DRLA.
Did you omit Ancient Aliens because it's already very well known, because you already have skillsaw in your list, or because it doesn't exclusively take place in space?
Because it’s a very well known WAD you should find many videos reviewing it in detail.

There are but they aren’t good I think. Check out Ashes 2063 it’s as good as it gets for a Fallout mod in Doom.
