I generally don't like to complain. For the most part I look on the positive side of life. So I did make some mistakes on this trip but I will learn from them. I hope you enjoyed the video, it was great to get out again and film. Cheers!
I'm working on my first trip video of the year right now (crotch lake) and I also have some bug complaints to make lol. Part of the story! I know you're keeping the name of the lake off-the-record, but are the last 3 letters invisible? Hope that keeps it cryptic enough.
WOW. I absolutely love the intro to you video David. I make mistakes on all of my camping trips so I appreciate your honesty. I find sometimes on youtube everyone only shows the polished side of their tripping? The bugs are horrible this year so it's okay for you to complain about them! I hope that ear cleared up. That is scary stuff.
Hi Shane good to hear from you again. I am okay with the mistakes, as long as I learn from there! I don't show all my mistakes because the videos would be too long but I like to show that I am not perfect and do make mistakes.
Your back! Good to see a new video. Sorry to hear about your knee and that crazy bug big. The burritos looked good.Anyways thanks for the video, I always enjoy them. Have you tried Thermacell?
Thanks Jake, it was really great to be back out there, bugs and all! The burrito was good, but I paid for them later 😂 I have tried Thermacell, I actually had the backpacker version working on this trip but it did absolutely nothing!
Thanks Jason. Ya the bugs sucked. Two days later there was a massive forest fire about 20km away from this spot and the sunsets were crazy, very orange all around!
Congrats on the knee recovery going well. You've got that in common with John of Lost Lakes! I liked your intro, and creative filming, too. I haven't seen you hammock in a long time. No likey? Its the only way for me now.
Thanks Michael. Jon's surgery seemed much worse than mine, I hope he heals up quickly. I still have the hammock and I plan on doing a few trips. I found sleeping in a tent a bit easier on the knee for now, but I'll be good to go in the hammock soon enough!
Welcome back, I have not been getting notified thought id check in sucks about your knee, Nice that you can get out always love your video's and where you go. What a gorgeouse spot you chose to camp, Yes the bug's are nasty this year. bug jackets and gear deffinantly needed . fish are probably eating the bugs that drop.. i am off to your next video, keep em coming . Ontario.
So good to see you out camping again I loved the beginning of your video. Your dinner looked really good we do the same thing with chicken. That lake was quite beautiful what makes the water so turquoise?
Ya, they are bad. I don't like to complain about the bugs because we know the bugs are bad, but it seems worse this year. I will have to check out your Oastler Lake video!
Question: I know that dragonflies eat tons of bugs that want to eat you but, what about bats in Canada? I lived on a lake in Vermont and also lived in the Adirondack Park in NY and we had dragonflies but lots of bats and they ate lots of bugs too. I never hear Canadian campers, such as yourself, even mention or show bats in their TH-cam videos. Are there just none around?
That's a good questions. We definitely have lots of bats up here and they are great against the bugs, but on this trip I didn't really notice many bats. I did see a few but with the amount of bugs I figured I would have seem many more.

@@MichaelHigginsPhotographic I love Crotch Lake. I was on Mair Lake, no worries! Good luck with your video!
@@DavidNorthFilms never been to Mair but was at neighbouring redhorse last year. Saw the green waters and yeah, I thought it must be Mair.
Life is all about making mistakes and then learning from the mistakes!
Welcome back - we missed you! No matter how good your camping experience is (or was), It's always enjoyable to watch. Keepitup!
Thanks Dan. It was great to get out again. Kinda surprised how much I missed it. It was a fun trip at the end of the day.

Glad to see you back. Well done capturing the sounds and imagery of how it truly is to experience camping in the bug season.
Thanks. it was a great lake for filming
David, So glad to see you back out and about!! Hope the knee is healing nicely and I really look forward to your videos.
Thanks for the kind words. The knee held up well and it was fun to get out again.

No fire is a bummer, those bugs would have driven me absolutely crazy, that lake at sunset was amazing...wow, your poor ear!

@@DavidNorthFilms yeah the fires this year are crazy…and it’s only June. 😢

Thanks Sue, this was a beautiful lake. Bugs were unbelievable this season! Thanks for watching.
yes they are bad in Ontario

Thanks Sabrina. I appreciate it. I am not sure what makes the water that colour.
Oh no way to many bugs for me. i don't even like the dragon flies!
The dragonflies were trying their best to help me out!
Mosquitos have been crazy around our house the last few weeks and we are in Algonquin this weekend
Ya, they are bad. I don't like to complain about the bugs because we know the bugs are bad, but it seems worse this year. I will have to check out your Oastler Lake video!
We tried the coils you burn and they seem to work for most of the mosquito
Great video buddy.
Thanks Jon. This lake reminds me of some of the glacial lakes out west.
@@DavidNorthFilms it looks beautiful. I could do without those bugs tho. Holy!

What a beautiful spot and you had it all to yourself, wow. That bug bite doesn't look great did you ever find out what bit you? #ouch
It was a great spot, and having the lake all to myself was great. I think it was a horse or deer fly that bit me...that jerk!
