The song's story is ultimately about a guy's descent into madness, he snaps, and then murders his family

'and justice for all' seems to be the album where james was working through his issues with his father.
it's also the period where his face was the most menacing on stage.
after that, he tried to make things right with his dad. (even bought him a house)
now that he's a father himself, he probably has a whole new outlook on things.

Yeah because you totally attended every single show they did in the 80s and 90s and concluded that THIS, the pro-shot and mixed/mastered, most easily accessible live show just happens to be the best show of their career...
This is just one show out of like 3 million on that tour, it just happened to be the one that was recorded (actually is a combination of audio and video recordings taken over two nights in Seattle), there’s no way to honestly conclude that this just happens to be the best show they did. It’s just a show, and it just happened to have the cameras rolling.

FYI - by definition a "record" is a song. A record is also a noun synonymous with vinyl and can be anything from a 45 to an LP. When Vin refers to ...and Justice as a record, he means ALBUM, although the album does contain the record "...and Justice for All," also known as the title track. When awards are given for Record of the Year, it is for a song, not an album. So many people confuse these terms.

I think Sori you will especially love this: It’s time you reviewed a second QUEENSRYCHE (another Seattle band) song. Vin loved ‘Eyes Of A Stranger’ last year. I recommend ‘Silent Lucidity’ their biggest hit. It went Top 10 in 91 and was nominated for Grammys and AMAs and nominated for 5 MTV Video awards, winning one, beating R.E.M.s Losing My Religion in the Viewers Choice category. It is a beautifully lush ballad with strings by Michael Kamen of Metallica fame as well as many film scores. The album Empire went triple platinum and is their biggest seller, even though ‘94’s Promised Land debuted at number 3 on Billboard. Queensryche is a band that deserves your attention. You will love it so much I think. Video is great too. Please use the studio version or official video version. No good quality live clips. Trust me. Sooo good.

Two years before this song's live debut, a book was written called The Harvester of Sorrow. It is almost definitely the inspiration for this song. Although the Grim Reaper is often called the Harvester of Sadness, the lyrics of the song seem to refer directly to the events of the book.
The book was about the Holodomor - the Ukrainian Holocaust which nobody ever hears about. Holodomor means "death by hunger" because most people starved or became sick due to lack of food. It happened during the Soviet "Collectivization" in which farms were shut down and centralized, and crops were confiscated in order to eliminate Ukrainian independence. The symbolism in the song, of sowing the seeds of death, are similar to references in the book to the mass killing disguised as improved farming.
At least five million people died, possibly as many as 10 million making it potentially a bigger massacre than the Holocaust.

You're right bro. Very nice heavy and slow tempo kindlike "the thing that should not be" from master of puppets.

The whole album is a masterpiece, can't argue with that.... like Arise from Sepultura, Fear Factory's Demanufacture, DArk Angel's Time Does Not Heal. No Benediction, Gorefest, Candlemass… reactions

"Live shit: Binge & Purge" A box with 3 CDs, VHS videos, a book with many pictures and some other stuff. I still have it and in good condition. Back in 1993 I paid what today would be 90 euros. What a show off !!! :-D. Great stuff, though. This video was from a 1989 show in Seattle, also included in the set. (I think). By the way, I never liked this song that much, don't know why… :-)

Please do the regular version of civil war. It’s great live but does no justice to the original version.

On their new album, James wrote a song about his parenting called Am I Savage? Which is him being a parent and maybe not doing it right

...And Justice For All, to me anyways, was their release of rage after losing Cliff. You can sense and feel it from the opening track, "Blackened", when Lars comes in on the drums behind the guitar. This album was grossly underrated of all their albums.
