This was the first sweetest moment I saw Mabel and Grunkle Stan had. Including the moment when Grunkle Stan freaked out about Gideon being with Mabel. That proves he cares about Mabel.
Stan even was ready to sacrifise himself for something Mabel likes. And he's shown that he hates waddles and was still ready to defeat it with his life
Dude that's so sad. Even if some people think Mabel is selfish... Which IS a bit. But come on you can't blame her. She just had a reality check and now her twin is leaving. My god.
Who wouldn't have acted differently if they were in Mabel's position... An entire day of having your dreams and expectations blown all-sky high and then having the blood of your blood leaving you as the final blow.
People forget she’s 12. She’s idealistic and had hopes for highschool and it was crushed. She needed her twin for support but he would be gone too she’d feel alone
The thing about their fight is that I don't think Mabel didn't exactly fight over Dipper choosing to become Ford's apprentice. I think she wanted her brother to be happy. Yes she is upset about it. But she didn't say "I wish you wouldn't take that job." She said "I wish Summer would last forever." Like she knew he should be happy but felt, as summer ends the world is falling apart especially now that Dipper had(at this point) decided to stay. He is the only person she felt she could count on(her other family to I'm sure but not as strong as a bond ya know?). For him to leave her in this distress was something she wasn't used too. And we see in "fantasy vs reality" that it's not like she wanted him to not follow his dreams. She wanted him to be happy. I think that's what she wanted for Dipper but felt so isolated from him recently and of the horrible news of his life will be, she didn't know what to do. Except wish for summer to never end. So everybody can get what they want and she didn't have to worry about the horrible part of growing up, at this point in time. PLEASE, know that this is only my opinion. If you strongly disagree okay. But don't hate on mine just because we have different pov's. on the subject. I won't hate on yours.💕
Well I am a commenter ready to debate and I'm here to say!!!...... I actually agree with you. Seeing people hate on a 12 year old girl is fucking sick. Plus Dipper isn't off the hook perfect either. What people don't get is that they are both young and have a TON of maturing to do. And have you noticed that Mabel is more feeling driven and Dipper is more logic driven? With these type of personalities thy are going to clash. Maybe it was a good idea for Weirdmageddon to happen so they can Both learn this. It all did work out in the end!!
The experience of people who are not ready to grow up, i've been through it too but i got over it. Mabel is older than Dipper but she's less mature than him, she's not ready yet. I feel sad for her
I agree. I don't think either side is entirely right in this scenario. But that's exactly what makes this conflict so emotional. I understood both sides and why they were so conflicted about it.
You know, I just realized something. This is almost an exact parallel to what happened between Stan and Ford. One wanted to pursue their dreams while another was devastated that they wouldn't be together
even that happened to marcy despite being from a different show and end up working with core and possesed by the evil techno hivemind monster (i don't mention andrias because he is just the core's henchmen and because the core is the true main villain)
That just goes to show that Stan and Mabel are selfish. They have no problem picking on and taking their twin siblings for granted, but the moment they realize their siblings can move on without them and do better they lashed out like it's Dipper and Ford's fault for not wanting to hold their hands all of the time. That sums up this whole conversation with Mabel. It was all about me, me,me then burst out of the room crying like a baby.
2:53 great detail how "Blendin"`s voice is stammering when he says "Mabel". Bill always called her "Shooting Star", and the moment he enters the scene he tries to remember what her name was, knowing that it starts with "m".
I think this is what Stan and Ford's conversation about West Coast Tech would've been like if Stan had talked about his feelings. But being a guy, he just bottled it up. But since Mabel's a girl, she's more open with her feelings.
Growing up is definitely not easy. And at times it can be scary. But so long as you have people around you who care about you, and they're willing to help you, they can make growing up a bit easier than doing it on your own. :)
Lets be honest. We all teared up at dipper’s line (Things change, summer ends) because it applied to us and how gravity falls had to end while it was still fun…. much like summer breaks…. ☹️ now im sad, ive made myself sad.
I wish it would end like this: Bill is defeated and Dipper agrees to Ford apprenticeship but says something like, "I'll be your apprentice if Mabel and Stan can stay".
I dunno how their parents would feel not seeing them throughout highschool. The only reason it would work for dipper is cause he’d receive an exceptional education from his uncle
The bleakest ending to a Gravity Falls ever. This episode starts light, then it switches between happy and sad, then it becomes SAD and then there's the ending where everything GOES TO HELL FOR EVERYONE.
Yep. This is also supported by the fact that Mabel, who is usually optimistic and likes being cheerful or happy or creative, was facing with the reality (the high school, the way returning to home and most of all the end of the summer) and, instead of shrugging it off, she acknowledge it and desperately wants to try to make the thing great, and when she heard Dipper's decision that was her final straw, because even her brother was leaving her (not entirely, just as Dipper said). And the moment when she realized her mistake for her own good and the one where Dipper and Ford realizes it was too late, man, a really dark cliffhanger.😔
I can understand where Mabel is coming from. But never less, I can't help but find her slightly selfish. Like she told Bill, Dipper has given everything to her, be it even when it he didn't have. Dipper has always and will always be there for her, and yet when has Mabel given done it for him? I was hoping that for once, Dipper would snap at Mabel. She has been selfish, arrogant and ignorant toward Dipper. He has spent the whole summer studing the journal, she should understand how important it is to him.
+Jilyenne Mcintosh Very true. I'm not saying that Mabel was completely in the wrong in this scene, she is a young girl coming to grips with the fact that her life is changing and that her brother may not always be there. I would rather have this happen but then she learns to except it and understand that Dipper will always love her other then what happened with Ford and Stan. What DOES annoy me about this scene is that it shows that it is always Mabel to act on her emotions, to show what is wrong. Now, I can probably see this being reversed sometime in the future with going into Mabel's bubble, Bill has called it a trap. I hope this runs deeper, twisting rather into a trap for Dipper, who is an introvert and does not allow himself to unleash his emotions like Mabel. Bill may use this. Rather then face himself against Mabel's desires and fears, he will face his own. His thirst for individuality and adventure and mystery, but his broken trust and anger towards everything that has happened to him coming together and suddenly as Mabel is proclaiming that he is leaving her, he unleashes his own feelings about all the torment, while not intentional, that he has hid throughout the summer. I want Dipper to scream and shout, to not be angry or upset, we've seen that. I want him to be enraged. Imagine if Bill was to use this to help power Wierdagendon. What is weirder than the inner turmoil of a teenage boy?
SportsPost Dipper and Ford could have made a great Spin-Off show. Heck, that or maybe one where both Stan and Ford go on their adventures after the events of the show.
Eh, I don't think at this time and place it was a good idea for Dipper to take the apprenticeship. He's barely entering his teenage years; that's not old enough to be separated from your parents. Plus, people forget that Ford is a) not the most responsible child-raiser ever (heck, even *Stan* does a better job), and b) has a lot of his own emotional baggage to deal with. Personally, I'd be more okay with Dipper taking the apprenticeship after he's had a chance to go to college, or even make it a summer-based apprenticeship.
I personally get where Mabel is coming from because i’m a twin my self and I would be devastated if I had to say goodbye to my twin. Now, I’m not saying I wouldn’t be happy for her and tell her to not take the opportunity because I would want her be happy but in the moment I would probably get mad like Mabel did too.
It's because Mabel spent the whole episode having all of her expectations BLOWN SKY HIGH. And this was THE LAST STRAW. The prospect of not even having HER OWN BROTHER by her side was the moment that sealed the deal.
I’m a twin as well and the loneliness of not having your twin around is definitely something I can relate to in regards to Mabel. (And Stan, if we’re being honest here) I’m happy my twin is living her life but I still miss her a lot, you know? It’s slightly different than Mabel’s situation since we’re both adults now but I definitely remember being young and being sad at the thought of not having my sister around.

You know what Dipper should have done? Asked Mabel to join him as Ford's apprentice, then refuse to join him if he refuses to have her. I'm certain Mabel would have gone for it. And to be honest... That's most likely how it's going to end.
+LollipopGirlGamer123 I almost cried, too. I'm seventeen and I'm totally not ready to start doing "adult" stuff. I don't even want to go on college visits yet. (But I am going to.) I know how she feels, it is sad.
"you still have your brother along with you through thick and thin...not everyone can say that, you know?" i cant say that...because i don't have a brother, i have a sister, lmao|| and dipper why didn't you chase mabel? heck you just stopped at the door just like that ; watched this months after gravity falls ended :-------) -save me- im fine;
I have to disagree with you on there. They are both 12 year olds with differences that need to be matured. They both should of talked things out and so should Stan and Ford.
Me: Tell me it's not true, you guys. Tell me you were joke. Last episode of Gravity falls, Seriously? Dipper: Look, we've been thinking and..this is a huge opportunity for our creator. Me: BUT IT'S A HORRIBLE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE FANS! I had the worst summer of my life. I've learned how to solve codes thanks to your show. you guys made my summer more fun. I've been looking for this kind of cartoon trill since Danny Phantom left and now you guys are leaving me too? Mabel: Look, we've been thinking about it. We won't be gone forever okay? Dipper: We can still visit you in your dreams, we'll be in books, we'll make it work. Me: I don't want it to work. I just wish Gravity falls could last forever. Dipper: But it can't, Blue. Mabel: Look, Alex can't keep working on shows like ours forever. It's part of growing up, things change. Dipper: Gravity falls ends. *I ran off from them*
In The book of Bill, it's revealed that Mabel and Dipper's parents sent them to Gravity falls so they wouldn't have to see them fighting. So Dipper wouldn't just be leaving Mabel to go through high school alone, he would also leave her to deal with their parents fighting alone
I saw someone else make this argument so I'm going to repeat what they saw for the people who think Mabel was selfish here: The people in the fandom insistent on blaming this on Mabel are falling into a trap. That trap being the same screwed-up mindset as Ford: Blaming Mabel for being "suffocating", being too co-dependent on Dipper and thinking the situation is exactly the same as Stan and Ford’s in high school. BUT IT’S NOT!!! It’s a SIMILAR situation but not exactly the same! Mabel is NOT co-dependent on Dipper in the same way Stan was with Ford! She was just in shock and utterly heartbroken over Dipper suddenly and without warning deciding that he wasn’t returning home. After Ford basically PESTERED him into staying! Massaged that boy’s ego raw! Living his life vicariously through this impressionable 12-year-old CHILD! If anything FORD IS TRYING TO RIP DIPPER AWAY FROM HER! Dipper was extremely hesitant about staying on with Ford after summer ended because all he could think about was Mabel. Not because she’s clingy and dependent on him, but because HE LOVES HER MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!! FORD IS AN ANTAGONIST AND THE MOST FRIGHTENING KIND AT THAT!
People say that Mabel is the selfish one which is kind of true, but not entirely. Sure, Mabel didn't really get character development, so that's one thing. She was kinda cast aside which was a shame. But she's supposed to show immaturity at it's finest. But also, everyone in the main cast or even most in the show are SELFISH. Stanley is a con man who steals things for his own good, and Dipper is even selfish sometimes too. He was so caught up in that laptop that he didn't even think about his health or helping his sister. He could've put the laptop aside for a bit to help with her puppet show. I'm not saying Mabel is an angel too. She sometimes puts her needs as the most important thing because in her eyes in the moment, they are the most important thing to her. But people also forget, that Bill is made to pry on people's selfish desires. Offering them power, fame, money, whatever they want to trick them into doing what he wants. That's mostly how he makes any move on anyone in the show. Everyone has a selfish side. Bill just takes advantage of it.
Yes But one thing I disagree is that Mabel got character development. Because she does realize the error of her ways and ends up fixing the situation like Dipper. And yes she is not an angel and neither is Dipper. They are both good siblings to each other who sacrifices for the other and grew as characters. Edit : I won't deny that she has selfish moments but she actually learns from her mistakes and has selfless moments too.
Yeah i can understand why everyone is talking about mabels selfish things but dipper must say "i will think" because he has a family and sister i mean at least he could think a little and then tell them
My best friend is goeing to an other school and i stay in my school and than i have no body stay wit me and sche lives far away from me so school was the only way i coud see her every week and now evriting is gone so i know how mabel feels becous we wer like 2 appels on one tree i m gona mis her

Can I please ask HOW is this his call?! Like isn't Dipper like 12 or something, like they have parents back in Peidmont right? Like would they really allow their 12 year old son to stay behind while their daughter goes home!? Like What!?
Well by the time they go home they're 13 and Ford is known as a genius, so I wouldn't be surprised if their parents would have let Ford mentor Dipper since Ford himself has several PhD's (if I remember correctly)

Dipper's apprenticeship would've been the coolest shit.
When bill said everything was going to change this is what he meant that they are going to grow up
I think he might have meant an apocalypse that's killing their friends and neighbours, but good try
The scene where Mabel runs away gave me the feels...
Idk why, but I feel like Dipper & Ford would be good friends with Dale Gribble
I think this is the only time Bill upholds his end of the deal.
who else laughed when dipper's face smacked the floor?
Not me, guy from 3 years ago

You know what Dipper should have done? Asked Mabel to join him as Ford's apprentice, then refuse to join him if he refuses to have her. I'm certain Mabel would have gone for it. And to be honest... That's most likely how it's going to end.
Leviathon672015 If only Dipper would say "i'll stay if Mabel stays in Gravity Falls" They would move in Gravity Falls.
Hey Its not Dipper's fault.
poor mabel pines
Poor Dipper pines
Poor Bill Cipher
oh. Idk why this part almost made me cry :/ :(
+LollipopGirlGamer123 SAME
same
+LollipopGirlGamer123 I almost cried, too. I'm seventeen and I'm totally not ready to start doing "adult" stuff. I don't even want to go on college visits yet. (But I am going to.) I know how she feels, it is sad.
😢😢😢
Me too baby
the time travel guys voice is Morty's from Rick and Morty.
Emo AssHole correct. Alex Hirsch is friends with Justin Roiland
The same exact thing happened with the twin stan.
I like Mabel most. :3
Me to, she's my favorite character in the entire show
I love the background music for all of this
+DisneyFaller 02 I know right
Same
"you still have your brother along with you through thick and thin...not everyone can say that, you know?" i cant say that...because i don't have a brother, i have a sister, lmao|| and dipper why didn't you chase mabel? heck you just stopped at the door just like that
; watched this months after gravity falls ended :-------) -save me- im fine;
cri
I don't have any siblings D:!!
-Camie Utsushimi- Its lonely without siblings
Selfish Mabel.
*I ran off from them*
BLUE QUARTS 1989 It's okay just watch another TV show and try not to get too attached
@@trevorphilips9065h, come off it. I was just having fun.
In The book of Bill, it's revealed that Mabel and Dipper's parents sent them to Gravity falls so they wouldn't have to see them fighting. So Dipper wouldn't just be leaving Mabel to go through high school alone, he would also leave her to deal with their parents fighting alone
2:52 - It's me, *MR. MISSICKS, LOOK AT ME!!!*
I saw someone else make this argument so I'm going to repeat what they saw for the people who think Mabel was selfish here:
The people in the fandom insistent on blaming this on Mabel are falling into a trap.
Yes
But one thing I disagree is that Mabel got character development.
Because she does realize the error of her ways and ends up fixing the situation like Dipper.
And yes she is not an angel and neither is Dipper.
They are both good siblings to each other who sacrifices for the other and grew as characters.
Edit : I won't deny that she has selfish moments but she actually learns from her mistakes and has selfless moments too.
oh no it's happening
WHAT HAPPENED TO STANFORD AND STANLEY IS GONNA HAPPEN TO DIPPER AND MABEL :(
i cry everytime i see this
oh my god
The feels D:
Four finger kid pulls up a six finger man
Feelz every time...
Meghan Espinosa is gonna freak!
do you really think dipper will stay when he know about stan and ford's deal?!
tru
😭 I watched this show the whole time it was on. I can't believe it was really this long ago. Should've had more than 2 seasons
This could be a pinecest thing also.
No, just no.
im not okay
i think she was being a little too selfish because she wanted everything to go her way instead of letting Dipper do his own thing.
Perhaps but she was mentally destroyed.
But when she gets cheered up, she will understand dipper and let him take the apprenticeship.
But I want summer forever
don't worry dude
Why is it every time bill posses someone the eyes are yellow, even though his one eye is white?
Is the future guy morty from rick and morty???
Yeah i can understand why everyone is talking about mabels selfish things but dipper must say "i will think" because he has a family and sister i mean at least he could think a little and then tell them
this episode is very fucking colorful
After the information revealed from the book of bill this scene hits so much harder and is genuinely depression 😢

I got mad when Stanford told Dipper to stay in Gravidy falls. I knew that it would break Mabel's heart. Kind of broke mine too.
Well Ford thought she would be fine alone as she was socially expert.
He didn't know she was mentally destroyed.
