  • CHIN CHIN
360 grams / (3 Cups) All purpose flour
100grams /(7 tablespoons) Butter or margarine
114 grams (½ cup )sugar sugar)
    4 grams ( ½ tsp) salt
    ¼ cup powdered milk
½ -1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
    1 whole egg
    ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons Water/milk 90ml
    Extra flour for dusting
    Vegetable Oil for frying
    Substitutions:
To make this recipe egg free, Simply omit the egg and increase the water/milk quantity to 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons.
if using only liquid or evaporated milk; Use 1/4 cup of milk plus 2 tablespoons water.
You can also replace the milk with water or use any type of plant based milk for a plant based snack.
Making in the airfryer makes for sweeter and crunchier chin chin; you can add an additional 1 tablespoon of water when making in the airfryer.

I used to babysit for a Nigerian family. The mother would leave a bag of these for me whenever I came over. They are THE BEST! I haven’t eaten them in over 16 years. Can’t wait to try this recipe!

I just tried this and I have almost finished it while it’s still hot. I prefer frying but I will try the air fryer style when I make this again - probably some fried and some air fried.
Your recipe is so straightforward- perfect for lazy beings like me. Your puff puff recipe has made its way into my recipe book and the chin chin recipe will take it’s place too.
    Thank you for sharing.
