This is a good review and whilst it isn't important from a certain perspective, people would love to know how it looks/puffiness or the general aesthetic on a person. There are much cheaper brands that do the same thing but people love Patagonia's principles as a company and how the garments look. So perhaps some talking points whilst you're wearing it and explaining the fit would also be good, how the arm length allows for movement etc, or just generally does it also look nice. Just an analysis.

Hola Fabio, Last December 2022 was perfect in Los Ojos del Salado over 6k meters . Summit push was so windy, and the temperature was under 30 celcius, I am a woman and I did not feel cold

Sounds like an awesome climb, congratulations for getting to the summit!

Love down material. Just don't let it get wet. Thank you for the information, Fabio.

Yes, down is absolutely awesome. With this jacket I really never had any issues with moisture, despite even wearing it on top of sweaty gear after climbing. 👍 Thanks for watching!

    Hi Bruno!
here Giorgio from Genova, Italy. I'm a mediocre alpinist / hiker.
About the jacket you reviewed: you mentioned the price is almost 300 euro and that seems to you cheap, as I well understand. To be honest it doesn't seem to me exactly cheap also considering the possible good quality of this article. I recently bought the Simond Alpinism Light Piuma that costs almost 1000 euro and yes, maybe it has not the same warm... but has double zip closure :). Do you know it?
In general I appreciate your contents. I'd suggest to mix the static camera view you generally use mixing your talk with on-field recording just as you did in the ice axes video. This would enhance the "quality" of your videos already very good and I agrree with your points.
BTW, I know you are from Switzerland, but from which region you are? By your accents it seems you are from a German-language, right?
You told you spend a lot of your days in mountains, so my suggestion / request is to share (if you feel interesting for your audience) some interesting alpine climbing routes in Switzerland you do. For me this is not for practical usefulness, but just for a cultural curiosity. Also, in general I'm interested to know climbing techniques and "common sense" mountaineering behavior rules in other countries, a part Italy.
    Thanks again
    giorgio

      Ciao Giorgio!
Thank you very much for this very good comment. I'll go through it point-by-point.
On the video quality: thank you for this input, I will definitely try to do so. Unfortunately I was injured and needed a bigger surgery in 2021 and missed a summer season and two winter seasons of skiing/skitouring. A tourist from China skied into me and destroyed my knee. I’m healed now, so there will definitely be more videos from actual climbs and also from me using the gear outdoors.
Simond is an interesting topic. First: I think their gear is good, although I would say that the Fitz Roy is more like the Makalu Down Jacket (which cost - without sale - roughly USD 220). Now a lot of people in Chamonix e.g. use Simond tents for 2-3 day climbs (I think it’s also called Makalu). But afterwards the tents are generally often thrown away and for longer routes (4 days and more) stuff light the Black Diamond First light tent is more common. I think Simon is good gear in the Mid-Quality area (and sufficient for likely 70-80% of climbers), but I also believe that there is actually still a difference in Quality. If we look for examples at the Makalu down jacket: the Simond one is for sure good, but e.g. the Patagonia has this special cut around the arms that gives you more range of motion, while you can see that the arms of the Simond jacket are attached straight. So again nothing wrong with Simond, I think they are still not a 100% at the quality level that brands like Arcteryx, Patagonia, Millet, or Black Diamond have.
Yes, I’m from the German speaking part of Switzerland, originally my grandmother is from Alto Adige (South Tyrolia), my grandfather is from Vorarlberg (Austria) where I grew up. The rest of my family is from Wallis.
Thanks again for the comment and the suggestions for videos, I’m moving at the end of April so I’m pretty busy with packing boxes, but I’ll definitely get back to these ideas.
      Have a great weekend!
      Fabio

@@TakeTheHighground Thanks Fabio. Of course I agree about Simond (and many Decathlon outdoor products): their gear are a compromise, nevertheless quality/price is exceptional for beginners. BTW I never tried the Makalu down jacket and ... because the general weather warmth I probably don't need it :(
Thanks for personal info. Interesting. I never climbed/hiked in Switzerland (except the view from Monte Rosa ridges :)) , but I appreciated Austrian Tyrol mountains (near Seefeld).
I wish you all the best for your channel. I wish complete recovery for your knee! You experienced a particular alpine "objective danger": other humans :)!
      Looking forward your contents!

Da hätten die Athleten um Colin Haley ein Veto einlegen müssen, das Patagonia den 2 Wege Zipper streicht.

Ja, würde man meinen.
