Cocoon had literally no traction at all (it was a decent puzzle game from what I've seen) but at the time of the game awards, it had less rating than pizza tower and only like 700 total reviews, AND was NOT even an indie game. It's made by the established studio "Annapurna" the creators of stray, outer wilds, what remains of edith fich, storyteller, and many more. they most likely bribed the judges to have them put it in some category to make it seem like their new game INSTANTLY won an award, but they messed up and put it as indie game of the year (which again, it doesn't qualify for due to the studio).

Pizza Tower may not have won the war, but it won the battle! Making it to the Game awards in the first place is such a wonderful thing that blew my mind when I came to know about it!
He may not won the award, but he won our hearts. Not gonna lie, all the Indie nominees are excellent games but Pizza Tower deserved to win. And this animation encapsulates so perfectly that feeling of victory if Pizza Tower had won. Really, Peppino going from nervous to happy to totally confident is splendid.

Our votes only count 10% due to many problems. Last year they had to take out the bots from Sonic's votes since they were using bots and the IP adresses where the same. I don't think they can do that on a major scale, but idk
