@@jfm14 Some of the bucklings if they have excess or don't get sold, I believe they harvest for tallow and meat. It's just part of farm life. But they do have to feed their family. *Note: I mean when the baby goats are around 6 to 8 weeks of age, I believe.*
@@lanigreen1599 they don't harvest at 8 weeks wtf 🤣 more like 8 months if that's what you mean. 8 week old goats are like a literal 'pound of flesh' (pound of harvestable meat, they're tiny and absolutely still just babies, babies don't get harvested unless they're several months old calves for veal. Most people don't eat babies....even lamb chops are like 6+ months old and over 100 lbs)
Wow this goat stuff is no joke! I like watching stuff like this because it’s so raw and it doesn’t just show happiness and rainbows, it shows real life problems and how to deal with them. Hopefully all of this is worth it at the end.
Looks like Anna was on the case of keeping that baby stimulated while chores were being done!

I hope this story makes you smile, earlier today we had a goat kid twins, I was watching this story and my husband came tearing in the room hopping trying to put on his pants saying “the kids are screaming something is wrong!” But it was your little doe on the TV.... I bet she makes it.

Recovery postition for new goats and lambs is laying with their legs tucked underneath them. That way there is no pressure on their lungs from their stomach.
Wedge her up that way with hay bales and prop the little head up on some hay to keep the stomach contents from running back up the throat.

No matter what you decide going forward with your herd you have as always provided the rest of us goat lovers with valuable tools to use within our own herds. As my momma always said, you can't fix crazy..

Crystal is great at what she does. Well most of it BUT There are plenty of people who know how to work with the "crazies" crystal just isn't one of them.
@@deborahbeattie9103 She's done a great job with them as I'm 7-9 mos later. She doesn't know 'give up'. I'm proud of her for that. She also eats the educational literature to drink up goat and husbandry knowldge to improve everything. Then shares it all with us!

Love it when you go to the stream. My 'much' younger days. We'd camp all summer. Coming home for main shopping and laundry in the washing machine. Mom had 3 under 5. I was 10 and the helper.

I was holding my breath for so long... Oh my Crystal, this video is so emotional!!! It's no wonder you're an emotional wreck right now, especially over those crazy girls!!! You're the best thing for those babies, you give them the will to fight!! You have such an awesome support system, they all spring into action when you need their help. What a beautiful farming family... I admire it so much. Hang in there, just a few more days, and the babies will all be on the ground, and the laboring days will be just a memory. Hello Crystal! Im a small goat farmer out of Oklahoma, i understand it being so chaotic everywhere! Im finally done with kidding season of 2021 was our hardest year and we lost one of our prettiest new baby bucks to the ice. We currently have 2 bottle babies in the house with us! Love seeing others have the same compassion for goats as my family does💗
Kidding season always makes me almost dread going to the barn in the morning afraid of what i might find. You learn from every experience and you just hope you have thought of everything to make it work perfect. Thank you for showing the bad. I know its hard for you guys but so many people are going to learn from what you guys go through.
Oh my...I'm there with you! In a hurry to go out and check everyone but, afraid of what I'll find!! Thankfully I'm done for this spring, only had to pull 2 kids & was able to save 1 of them.

She definitely is an amazing woman! So loving and caring of all her goats. She is just so wonderful to them and does an awesome job caring for them. The whole family is like that. And her husband is very caring as well.

If she was under Tanzie I'm wondering if she's a little oxygen deprevived and that's why she slowly improved with stimulation helping her stay awake and taking deep breaths.
Internal bleeding is still a worry but short of a vet check that's hard to diagnose
It seems like this season has been rough for all the farms/homesteaders that are having babies I hope it gets better for everyone. Crystal you are a amazingly strong woman your goats are very lucky to have you.

Anna's like one of those veterinarian greeting dog and cats they have in their vet offices Anna the dog is like on Mama Patrol and is willing to adopt anything.. I would put those those those crazies for sale! Use the money that you get from them towards getting your pens the way you want it and if they don't sell I guess it's freezer cam for them but the only one Roxy is the only one out of all the crazies that seems to be trying

Anna has become my favorite of all your dogs. She is worth her weight in gold.
Roxie gave bucks but so far is the only one that didn't reject her babies
And she's not AS crazy, she's the only one showing improvement and really is no worse than Dawn. I think if they make a decision, Roxie, so far, will be kept.
Honestly doesn’t look like they rejected their babies. I would assume the mom probably was pawing having the other kids and didn’t realize she had the kid under. Cows will do that, multiple births are just tough in tight spaces.
Being a fellow homesteader and knowing what all needs to be done, I want to acknowledge just how difficult it must be to also film so thank you very much for sharing. I can't even imagine just how overwhelming busy you guys are.

Aw Crystal, u are so exhausted, emotionally and just a year of doing ur best working with the crazies. Can not imagine the stress for both u and Derrick with this newest disaster, trying to save this precious baby. I was shaking just WATCHING u bringing life back into that totally limp baby. Whatever decision u and Derrick make regarding the crazies is the right one for u and the herd. We all are your cheerleaders. You teach us every day what goat farming truly involves, the incredible smiles and laughter as well as the gut wrenching tears . u both are awesome. We need more of Derrick singing.....once the smiles return. We gotcha.
This was so hard to watch. I sat at 3am, rewatching Crystal bring another baby goat back from the brink of death. I cried so much watching this. Crystal, in the world of goat breeding, you are a ROCK STAR! People who want a quality goat should be lining up at your door. Where else can you find this type of love and care???
