    Nick's playing has gotten really, really good over the years. You can see and hear a difference in his playing from videos a few years ago and the new ones.
    edit: The snare sounds awesome but I'm here for Nick D at this point

    This sounds really good. Love hearing Nick play.
    Watch some videos ( You Tube ) of Spock's Beard. He sings lead, plays guitar, keyboards and drums. They have another drummer also. Very cool fusion project back in the day. The man is a talent and cool human.

    Is this drum cast (like a ‘legit’ bell brass ) or is it rolled and welded ?

    Gonna be honest, I have the original version of this and it sounds better without the plating. Now I also have the steel version of this and it sounds great with the plating.

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also own the original version. I found out it’s a rolled and welded shell made of Brass. The shell has a beautifully hidden seam which is why people are fooled but this fact is verified from the factory that makes thee shells. The Steel and Phosphur Bronze shells are also rolled and welded. The term “Bell Brass” denotes cast bronze. That’s where every drummers thoughts go to when hearing that term due to the legendary Tama drums from the 80’s. Not sure why Gretch feels the need to add to the confusion and mislead drummers.

    • @marc8vino
      @marc8vino 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Assimilator702 The description says 3mm cast. It's on every site I see. Is this not true?

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @marc8vino Yes and no. The slab of metal can start out as a cast piece. But in this case it's rolled and welded. Not cast as one shell that's machined down to the final thickness like most of us drummers want our cast shells.This has been verified by several people. Sketchy marketing on Gretches part at best.

    Great sounding snare, but the Teen Spirit intro will only sound right with an 80s Tama.

    The original natural brass looks miles better than this. I feel DW had a hand in this and has made things worse.

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the business relationship DW has with Gretch is what influences these newer metal shelled snares. All the metal shells are coming out of the same factories. This one like all the other USA cast shells is a rolled and welded/brazed shell with a hidden seam. I have the original Gretch “Bell Brass” snare and I’m thinking of selling it. I own an actual cast bronze snare and the Gretch doesn’t come close. Confusing marketing terminology will only ruin the reputation of Gretch if they keep this up. Shame on you DW and Gretch.

    • @Juniscrazy
      @Juniscrazy ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be thanking DW for keeping them alive, why you think ppl sell their companies. The new things don’t make it bad. This snare sounds great. They have different things for different musicians. Different ways of making things, every company does it. It’s ok if some don’t like the snare but why bash a company for putting out a new product you don’t like lol. Stop hating
