hey nicky just letting you know cages that are 80cm x 40cm are roughly 495 square inches of floor space not the 279 you suggested in the video! i am from the uk and so are familier with these types of measurements x
I was on the thumbnail haha 😂. Not in the video :( But I loved watching this video! :) Also just read the end and I can’t wait for part 2!!!!! :) Love your channel Nicky 😊😁
Some people, and I put the pellets in a bowl while scatter feeding the seed mix, that might be what that person did. My 2 Syrians and Robo love live mealworms and small dubia roaches. I try to make their diet as close to what it’d be in the wild as I can.
I have a question if I make an 30Lx25Hx18H bin cage and use it as a cage for my hamster for 5 day when I take an 9 hour car ride and 4 day stay and another 9 hour car trip back is that ok
I know these videos are old but I just want to say something. These types of videos are fun to watch because you can see what other people do with their cages. But it’s also very sad because a lot of people bully each other over it. If your cage is too small get a bigger one. Save up your money and get a bigger one. If your cage has little enrichment, same thing. Save up and get some enrichment for your hamster. If you need more bedding go get a bag of bedding. If you want to use water bottles or you want to use bowls who cares as long as your hamster is getting water. I choose to use a tiny bowl for water and I change the water multiple times a day. I enjoy it because it’s the way I care for my hamster when she is asleep and can’t interact with me. Do a bunch of research, make lists, learn the facts and change the way you are doing things if you find out you are doing them the wrong way. No one usually gets it perfect right away but learning and putting in the time and effort says a lot about you as a pet parent. Now, if you are young and your parents will not help you get the stuff you know you need then I have something to say to them. If you get your kid a pet you better consider it just as much your pet as theirs. You don’t get to go out and get a pet for your child and then assume no responsibility for it. You better be ready to care for it and love it and learn about it in order to help your child give their pet the best life possible. If you weren’t ready for that then you shouldn’t have gotten your kid the pet. Lastly, with all of this said there is a big difference between trying to educate someone and just being plain mean and picking on people because they do something slightly differently than you. You don’t know the situation they are in or how hard they may be trying. So just stop, be nice, state the facts and move on. Rant over. ❤️
The cages I used in this video were from people that had sent them to me over the past few months. I will do a post on Insta or TH-cam in the future when I am planning to film one of these videos (after part 5) .
I can't believe the minimum in the US are 450sq inches. In my country that would be straight up animal abuse. And people are even going below that minimum? If you can't afford proper care for you hamster and this INCLUDES a 25cm wheel, a minimum of 25cm of bedding, a multichamber hideout, enrichment, at least a 10x10cm sandbath and good food, then don't get a hamster. None of those enclosures shown in this video are even close to being enough/good.
same i think its really sad that majority of the worlds hamster laws are still really out dated, even where i live the bare minimum is 600 square inches which i still think is too small for any hamster to live in happily.
For the person that had a cage around eight minutes if they live in a country that doesn’t have a lot of hamster supplies they can try out hamster male they have treats in hamster male and toys but it is a little expensive but they ship worldwide
Our exotic animals vet told us that bin cages almost never provide good ventilation and shouldn’t be used, I have really big cage with bars and gave my hammy a bunch of toys and stuff and never saw him bar chewing.
I think as many people as many opinions and can be true, she was literally studying small animal care :D and it is possible to find many articles telling about difference in lifespan of hamsters living in a bin cage/tank and a wire cage
actually this is where opinions take place, you said you like water bowls but in my opinion I HATE having a hamster drink out of them because there is a chance they could slip and fall in.
@@kohlenhydrat2665 no I'm saying I hate using bowls half the time the waters not gonna be clean cause bedding is gonna get in it and if the bowl is a bit too big for your hamster and they get on the bowl there is a chance they will fall in. Yes water bottles can fall but it won't drown the hamster at least.
@@sydthesciencekiduwu3373 yeah that's why i just told you that you should use small bowls?? lolol and there isn't going to be any bedding in it if you place it on a little platform. And i don't know what big ass bowls you have but mine never were so deep that there was a possibility of my hamster drowning
Well first I just really don't like the idea for bowls and I would use a water bottle and second I don't even have one yet so when I do get my hamster I'm not using a bowl.

That's why you should only use little bowls. Bowls are better because your hamsters can get more out of it.
