  • The proposed high-speed rail project between Dallas and Houston is one step closer to becoming a reality. Texas Central is proud to announce that it has closed on the first round of development funding for the project. Texas Central raised $75 million exclusively from Texas-based investors who are experienced visionaires and believe in big ideas. We’re also pround to announce the hiring of Tim Keith as CEO of Texas Central. More details can be found here: texascentral.com/welcometimkeith

      +High Speed Rail America Club the HSR could negatively impact our community - especially in residential and economic development, natural resources and environmental issues, historical and cultural impacts, land values, school districts, emergency services, mobility and transportation and we highlighted several areas where it is clear that federal laws under National Environmental Policy Act have not been followed.... Especially by the FRA. Other than that, it is fine. LOL

      +Tommy Truth It could also bring America's infrastructure into the 21st century instead of living in the 1900s. The rest of the world is already on board. We need to follow suit.

      Fine. No taxpayer money and no eminent domain. Let them knock themselves out.

    fantastic! commute to my family reunions in Houston will be so much faster, and safer than a 3 hour irritating drive.
    i could do my morning classes then ride take the DART to the HST, and spend time at the Houston shore before taking the HST back. this new infrastructure will open up so many doors to people; like it has in Europe.

      The freight railroads are hauling as much as they can already.

      Most traffic on highways is passenger traffic. Yes, freight railroads are awesome, but so is high speed rail.

    Let's call for a referendum on this proposal. Texans should vote on it.

    All of the proposed routes follow existing freight lines. BNSF, and Union Pacific. If BNSF and Union Pacific can't run their trains from Dallas all the way To Houston at 79mph due to curves, hills, and speed restrictions (local ordinances) then how in the world do they think they're going to run a pass up-n-ger train at 220 mph? Even on a seperately built track there are too many curves and junctions with other freight lines where speed is restricted. Just put the whole project underground. No curves, no junctions, and their own right of way. Plus you avoid adding to the above ground sprawl

      max speed limit for Freight is 79 Miles per hour because of US railroad law governing freight trains. IF they are going 79MPH its on a strait line.

    Build your boondoggle railroad, BUT: No taxpayer money and no eminent domain.

    • @davidteer80
      @davidteer80 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      it is privately funded, but they will have to buy or lease private land to build it. Property owners that refuse.....eminent domain

    • @Jemalacane0
      @Jemalacane0 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nah! Build more highways only for them to get clogged over and over again.

      funny how stupid people are OK with eminent domain for freeways but not for rail lines.

    Smoke and mirrors not one rapid transit project in the US operates without massive infusions of taxpayers dollars. To think it's possible to engage the private sector into parting with their cash, when there is no profit to be make, is an incredible set of lies.
