I met Steve at a gig back in the early 2000’s. At that point he’d already had I think 3 strokes and he had a handler with him. He was incredibly nice and friendly, and what I’ll remember most is that he literally acted like he knew us. He was like ‘you guys! How ya been?’ and gave us a hug. He still plays the Guns tunes perfectly with his trademark swing. And this singer sounds way better than modern Axl lol.
This is what I can say about Steven. He is a friend and a great guy. I met him at the World Famous Rainbow bar and grill. We hit it off so cool. We talked like we had known each other well. We just kept it simple. Hello Steven. Have a great show tonight at the Key Club ( which was just a short walk from the Rainbow on the Sunset Strip.) He just said. Hey dude, cool. I will. Next time I see him. At the Rainbow. I see him and say , hey Steven , how are you. I met you awhile back , here. Are you " ok". Hey Steven, don't you got another show at the Key Club, tonight. He , goes. Hey, I do . Are you coming to me. I go, no. The gig is sold out. Then, goes , hey come to the Whisky a go go. I'm doing a 2 pm sound check with my band. I let you check it out. I tell him. Steven that's cool. But, I'm a caretaker of a guy in a wheelchair. Maybe, another time. Then , it's fast forward to a few years. I see a friend come up to me. She goes, hey Steven is here. Do want to meet him. I say, sure. Where is he. Then, we walk up to him. She says to Steven. Hey, this is my Friend, Miguel. Steven goes, I know Miguel. He's cool. . I give Steven a big hug. ( I always have him one each time, I talked to him) My Friend is awestruck. I talked to Steven for about 10 minutes. We talked about the GNR Reunion Tour. I tell him to be ready to be on tour with them. Steven is almost in tears. He says , thanks Miguel. I will be ready. Forward a few months. And Steven plays with GNR in both shows in Los Angeles and San Diego. For a couple songs. And he plays a few more shows . I couldn't be happier to be at those shows in LA and San Diego. But, here's something you don't know. I was outside the Stadiums , not inside. I'm not going to pay hundreds of dollars to see GNR. They are not worth that unless Steven is playing the whole Concerts. I was there outside, so I could hear his two songs with the band. The crowd went nuts inside the Stadium. I was outside the Stadiums in tears. Steven was probably thinking. I hope my friend is hearing me . Because, I can't believe he was right. I haven't seen Steven since I talked to him that time at the Rainbow. I hope to see him. And give him another hug and kind words. He is a great person. Peace

He's a big part of why I started playing drums. I totally agree with you, he should be touring with GnR permanently. Maybe there's a reason we don't know that he's not but I'll say his band sounds awesome. Vocal wise it's not not even close, this guy sounds like prime 80's/90's Axl. I hope to see Steven play someday and to meet him would be insane lol.
@@joshg4022 Long story short, a world tour with GNR takes its toll on a body. Steven doesn't have the health to make it through. Besides, who knows if his old demons wouldn't come back to haunt him? And finally, his playing on the early stuff is unparalleled. Could he be bothered to learn the new stuff? Not sure.

I attributed part of his attitude to the fact that he’s cognitively impaired a bit because of the strokes, but he was just so friendly. And a lot of people say that about certain celebrities but he was on another level and literally acted like he knew us. It’s a great memory. Kevin Dubrow and Janie Lane were also in the club that night on this tour and I met Janie as well who was clearly in a bad space. He looked terrible, sat in a corner by himself and was clearly depressed. He did not live for much longer after that gig. Maybe a year or something like that. Sad story. I remember Dubrow was still kind of a prick, acting holier than thou even though he couldn’t fill a small club. They ran him into the club with a towel over his head like he was Lady Gaga or something lol. RIP
@@hugolafhugolaf I agree, I'm sure a full tour would probably be too much for him. I'm glad they brought him back to play though, he really needed that. I'm sure he'll never get over losing that his spot in the band but that definitely was a great thing for him to play with the guys again.
Axl may be old now and time may have taken his voice but it will never take what he and the band created and for that , thank you Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy , Gilby, Steven and Matt for creating such legendary music

Steven Adler WAS the sound of Guns N Roses. His swing and groove on Appetite is perfect. The only album ever where all the drum parts he chose were perfect. I would not change a thing. Guns has never been the same without him. Sorum was fine and the guy they have now is too, but they can't replicate the feel of Adler.

I saw Adler's Appetite back in March and it was awesome. His band exceeded my expectations. I've seen Guns N' Roses before during their peak in their career when they toured with Metallica. Matt Sorum was already their drummer at the time but seeing a band play the AFD songs with Steven on drums for the first time was a real treat. I hope in the near future we'll get to see the day when the original Appetite lineup including Izzy Stradlin reunite together.
I saw Guns n' Roses in Rome Two weeks ago. The Appetite's band reunion Is one of my dreams too, anyway...web are lucky to see 3 of the former band, togheter. GNMFKNR
I hung with Steve at the Ritz back in the 80s when GNR did their first MTV concert and he was a very humble and down to earth dude. Glad he’s still alive and kickin’ 🤘

We didn't see the Ritz video in the UK until a couple of years later. As a 15 year old kid it blew my mind! I'd watched it with a friend - the next day we started a band. No idea ow to play, but we went pretty far in the end.

What is amazing is that so many people who have been trying since the 80’s to get a break sound like a lot of the singers from the 80’s still and were in our mid to late 50’s and still have the passion and dreams but we do it for fun now. But I would not live like I’m better then anyone else and I would finally buy a house in my dream places Arizona and Florida and get my wife’s dream car my dream truck/ car and motorcycle and first I’d give God all the Glory because at my age it’s going to be God’s will not mine Amen 🙏!!!
So glad steven is still drumming. One of my favorite drummers. I remember when this song came out. It was set to premier at a certain time on WRCN 103.9 on Long Island. I made damn sure I was there, sitting in front of my Sanyo Mw-200 boombox, brand new cassette tape in and finger poised over the record button. I believe I started recording at 1 min to the hour so I didn't miss ANY Commentary about the song or GnR. I still had that cassette until 2015 when I lost my storage unit to auction. 😩😩😩 To this day this is one of my top 5 GnR songs.
Steven don't know me but he was the guy that changed my life . I was a 10yrs old kid that didn't liked music at all. My father bought a Sony CD player for his HI-Fi system back in 1990/91 but we had no CD's to play on it. A School friend borrowed me a couple of CDs and one of those CDs was Appetite for destruction. That Cd blew my mind . Suddenly I was playing air drums or using my pillows as toms mimic Steven. I started to buy magazines where Guns N Roses were on cover, I dressed like them, I wanted to know what that band was , I wanted to be like them, I wanted to be a Drummer . On 92 Christmas we went to buy a drum kit, but when we arrived at the shop my father,just looking how big and loud a real drum kid sounded plus the lack of space on our apartment, he convinced me to buy another stuff as compensation, at that day he ended up buying me a guitar, because was smaller and a small practice amp because it was "small and had a volume knob (so we could control loudness ol ). The rest was history. I ended up playing as a professional musician for more than 10 years and know I'm working as a FOH mixing engineer .
Steven loves rock n' roll and loves being a rock star. He doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. He's the real deal. Look at him here - He loves it! This is better drumming than I ever saw on the UYI tour (no disrespect to Matt).

What is amazing is that so many people who have been trying since the 80’s to get a break sound like a lot of the singers from the 80’s still and were in our mid to late 50’s and still have the passion and dreams but we do it for fun now. But I would not live like I’m better then anyone else and I would finally buy a house in my dream places Arizona and Florida and get my wife’s dream car my dream truck/ car and motorcycle and first I’d give God all the Glory because at my age it’s going to be God’s will not mine Amen 🙏!!!

I remember when this song came out. It was set to premier at a certain time on WRCN 103.9 on Long Island. I made damn sure I was there, sitting in front of my Sanyo Mw-200 boombox, brand new cassette tape in and finger poised over the record button. I believe I started recording at 1 min to the hour so I didn't miss ANY Commentary about the song or GnR. I still had that cassette until 2015 when I lost my storage unit to auction. 😩😩😩
To this day this is one of my top 5 GnR songs.

Steven don't know me but he was the guy that changed my life . I was a 10yrs old kid that didn't liked music at all. My father bought a Sony CD player for his HI-Fi system back in 1990/91 but we had no CD's to play on it. A School friend borrowed me a couple of CDs and one of those CDs was Appetite for destruction. That Cd blew my mind . Suddenly I was playing air drums or using my pillows as toms mimic Steven. I started to buy magazines where Guns N Roses were on cover, I dressed like them, I wanted to know what that band was , I wanted to be like them, I wanted to be a Drummer . On 92 Christmas we went to buy a drum kit, but when we arrived at the shop my father,just looking how big and loud a real drum kid sounded plus the lack of space on our apartment, he convinced me to buy another stuff as compensation, at that day he ended up buying me a guitar, because was smaller and a small practice amp because it was "small and had a volume knob (so we could control loudness ol ). The rest was history. I ended up playing as a professional musician for more than 10 years and know I'm working as a FOH mixing engineer .

Steven loves rock n' roll and loves being a rock star. He doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. He's the real deal. Look at him here - He loves it! This is better drumming than I ever saw on the UYI tour (no disrespect to Matt).

I met SA at the Sahara Hotel in Vegas 1993. I didn't even recognise him at first. He bought myself and a friend a couple of drinks 😊 I'm glad he is doing well these days. 💖
