Yeah, that’s what I figured the first time; I also thought he was something from Wario Ware.
2:01 The guy in the 3rd block is Ninten from Mother 1 or EarthBound Begginings. And when I typed Earthbo, in the completed thing was Earthbound without a capital B.
And the music sounds familiar because it's based on Chuck Berry's Johnny B Goode. Just like in Earthbound.

Now THAT was a Mario game! This one is definitely up there in quality, and there's so much we can do with it. The trippy visual effects are okay, but the things you can do are even better!

Re: the boss - it's the New Age Retro Hippie from Earthbound (SNES). The song may sound familiar if you've played a Mother/Earthbound game... or if you've ever heard Johnny B Goode as there's a sample that forms a good chunk of the main riff for it.

I believe the sprites are based on the Koopatrol enemies in the Paper Mario Series games, but there may be some custom animations thrown in.
