Country music is a wonderful thing. Yet, anytime the Voice winner is not a country singer, it is a big win for America. Many times, people vote for genre over talent, and it's good to see talent win. A talent can be in any genre (including country).

It's odd that the returning champ chose to perform a cover song that they had previously sung during their season and not an original.
I doubt she chose? The voice never promotes its winners original music - was definitely a production choice.
I don't think she has an original song yet other wise she would have song yet look at season 22 winner Bryce when he performed in season 23 it was his song the finger or season 19 winner carter when he performed in I believe in season 20 it was his original song horoscope

Maybe the studio version sounds better? Not sure why she was determined to yodel on every note, and struggled with pitch issues the whole performance.
She's got a nice tone but boy nobody has beaten Moushumi's cover of this song in the world I would say.

Agree. I thought I was the only one to notice. Still great, but not as good as her original delivery of this song when she was competing to win the voice. Something was missing.

Gina will still forever be one of my favorites ever but its so sad seeing a contestant that was perfect come back seasons later clearly no longer caring as much and singing a song she once sang perfectly pitchier and with so much less breath control

@@jasonb8493 are nerves only for specific times in your life? When she was competiting she was used to doing this week and week out. She hasn't been on LIVE tv for year. It'd be weird not be nervous and we know she has anxiety. It was one of the things they focused on with her.

Has there ever been a Voice winner or even contestant who became successful in the mainstream? American Idol Copycat show was- a total failure for 23 seasons.

Nice voice but it's actually ridiculous that last year's winner is singing a reprise of a cover she did last season and not an original song. Is the purpose of this show NOT to set winners up to have successful careers in music with recording contracts, etc? Seems ridiculous that they haven't even gotten her 1 original song to perform and promote on their own platform smh
Maybe it is just me, but i really do not like the song sang this way.
Some songs cannot be sung by anyone but the original singer. Trying just makes you sound like a fool.

@@griffinworley3649 D Smooth was robbed... He was easily the best and most consistent that season. Gina had 1 great performance the entire season and only won because of Niall's 1D army voting. Grace only got 2nd because Blake's fans were carrying her.
@@userunknown1578 Gina had multiple great performances. I loved D Smooth too and thought he should been top two, I wouldn't have been mad if he won. But Gina is brilliant and totally deserving.
@@rachell4973 Sorry, Gina was nowhere near as consistent as D Smooth... She arguably didn't have the better performance in neither the Battle nor Knockout rounds(her stage presence was pretty bad and her nerves were always getting to her). That season came down to coach popularity. Niall could've won with anyone he sent to the Finale with the 1D army backing him... And Blake having 2 artists splitting votes.

I would be defending her as singer she won or not rme. D Smooth is also EFFING FANTASTIC. So, there really is no longer competition here. They are just both great in a different ways. Sorry you feel you have to put someone else down to elevate your favorite. Doubt he'd appreciate given what a great guy he is and he knows Gina.
Sure she is a great singer, but the first half was just weak/shaky
She wouldn't make the top 12 on this year's American Idol. She's a very "average" singer for somebody who won a competition.
Edit: just listen to her again and she has terrible lows like she can't hit them. The rest of her singing is no different than anybody else who can sing.
