Rather than trying to grab the side edge of a column to move it, wouldn’t you just click/drag the column header of the selected column and drop it where you want it? Same with a row, select the row, click/drag the row header up or down, drop where you want it.

If you do that, at least for me, it moves the column, but replaces the data where you drop it. I want to keep the existing data.

I remember now that I would always create an empty column first, then move the column over.
