    Three novice hikers set off from Milngavie and walk to Fort William along the 96 mile West Highland Way. The start of the video is our thoughts on this walk and later on the hikers we met gave their one piece of advice that they wished they knew before setting off.

    Hiking in Scotland was amazing, I’ll be back for sure but for me the walk really got impressive after Tyndrum, we restocked at the impressive Green Welly Stop and then headed out for a wild camp and into the part of the walk I found most impressive. Glencoe was simple beautiful.
    The West Highland Way is a long-distance walking trail in Scotland, stretching for 96 miles (154 km) from Milngavie, on the outskirts of Glasgow, to Fort William, near the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain. The trail was established in 1980 and is Scotland's first official long-distance walking trail. It passes through a varied landscape of lochs, forests, and mountains, offering stunning views of the Scottish Highlands. Along the way, walkers pass through small villages and towns where they can rest, refuel, and take in the local culture. The West Highland Way typically takes between five and nine days to complete, depending on walking speed and time taken for rest breaks. It is a popular trail for both experienced hikers and those new to long-distance walking, with many walkers coming from all over the world to experience the unique beauty of Scotland's rugged landscapes.

    It's a very good video. I did the WHW followed by the CWT at the age of 65 because I realised that my bucket list was being transferred to "I wish I had done that list" One day you will wake up and realise the WHW ship has sailed. As you said, a lot of research went into the planning.

      Thanks for sharing. I’m not skilled enough for the CWT…yet!

    • @davidalexander287
      @davidalexander287 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @The Optimistic Adventurer I did the CWT about 8 months after I climbed Snowdon, so I guess with no experience. I did a lot of research beforehand, so I had an idea of what to expect. I learn fast and better when I do something. If you watch the videos, you will be told experience, fitness and map reading skills. To some degree, but it's your mental attitude that gets you through. Watch Fit for Adventure, and if you are not packing your ruck sack after watching Sarah, I will be surprised 😁😁

    The first sentence of this video is exactly what I needed to hear at this moment. Thank you Univers (or TH-cam algorithm ;) ). Starting September 1st I'll be walking the WHW as my first ever long distance hike and doing it solo. I've been through a bit of a tough time and this will be the first time I'm going to challenge my fears and hopefully overcome them. You saying "do it now, while you can" hit the spot for me! Thank you for the great video as it made me feel like I'm doing the right thing.

      Hope you have a fantastic time Steven, be aware that the baggie people are strict on weight limits of bags, we met a lady who was carrying kit they wouldn’t take. Enjoy and good luck with the training. The last 50 miles are the best in my opinion.
