Its been shown in the comic series as well as the book version that grandpa did have a run in but it was with a different vampire. It was the widow who turns grandpa into a half vampire. The bottles he drinks are actually filled with animal blood and it's also hinted throughout the movie that Grandpa is also seen wearing sunglasses in daylight just like Micheal starts to do after he is turned.

Yes, the Gecko brothers are a reference to the Frog brothers. There's also a reference to Lost Boys in Reservoir Dogs. Tim Roth's character says something about it if I'm not mistaking.
When Tim Roth is going over his anecdote to make his undercover character more believable, he mentioned that his friends would call him all the time looking to buy weed while he was trying to watch t.v. "I'm trying to watch the Lost Boys!".
That's why he was into taxidermy as well. He was feeding on animal blood. Like Lost Boys The Thirst, when that Frog bro was a half vampire and was doing the same thing 😊
@@weirdoslovemrshelton I thought they became full vampires but developed traits similar to what they first fed on. The tribe looked different because their head vampire fed on a shark, the frog brother fed on rats etc.

League is also a classic to me, I totally can see why it was a huge failure, they didn't have enough time for each character and expect you to know the characters in the stories from their books(I know the books so to me it was good).
I love League. I was very familiar with most of the league except Alan, so I was ecstatic to see them cast working together as a group. Of course I would have loved to seen more character development for them individually. I thought their individual story lines were well thought out but not enough time in the film to display all of their attributes to their potential. I did enjoy the plot as well, it was a great idea also. It could have been even better with more time. They packed a lot of information into a small package, likely with the hopes of some spin-offs. I was truly saddened that nothing else came from the movie. I'm sure several people felt that way. I would have loved to have seen some origin stories or character specific movies as a result of League. I will continue to love what I have and there's always hope that one of the characters will be explored further in the future.
Cogan Lollins, I would love for you to take a look at Vampires vs. the Bronx. It’s a really unappreciated horror comedy that I bet most people haven’t heard of
TOP-NOTCH!! Up there with 'FRIGHT NIGHT'. Although 'BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA' by COPPOLA is on a different level, 'THE LOST BOYS' and 'FRIGHT NIGHT' delivers their own GREATNESS!! - James D. Watkins, artistic director of PHOENIX PRODUCTIONS.
When Michael asked about Murder Capital, Grandpa said "well, put it this way; if all the corpses buried around here was to stand up all at once, we'd have one hell of a population problem" 😅
I just noticed this but what if the parents of the Frog brothers were also half vampires, they sleep all day right. It would explain why they know so much about vampires.
No no no! Why do people these days always have to bring somebody else into it? The Frog Brothers were fine the way they were in the film. Making their parents vamps or half vamps just adds a nonsense layer to an interesting piece of lore. If your parents were vampires , wouldn’t you want to save them and not stake them while they sleep? And if they were turned after they became parents wouldn’t they want to bring the kids into the “vampire life?” They were just waiting till they got to be closer to adulthood. Because when they turned they would stay that age forever.
@@josebrown5961, I never said that they were vampires or that they tried to bite their children. Maybe they are just like the grandpa in the Lost Boys and lives off the animals who he later uses for taxidermy. Remember that Max asked Michael for permission to get into the house, Michael doesn’t own the house but his grandfather does. Also the grandfather left as soon as he saw Max, like he knew what was going on. It could also be the reason why the parents were still alive because the brothers wanted to turn them back into humans again. I don’t want to change the story in any way, it’s perfect the way it is.

I absolutely love your content mate. I'm a bit of a vampire fan myself lol. The Lost Boys is up there with the greatest in the genre, and I love revisiting it.
I feel like there's a certain significance to how Max says it, though. "You're the new man of the house, and I'm not coming in until you invite me." Maybe just getting Lucy's invitation to come over wasn't actually an invitation across the threshold, or possibly it has something to do with the statement about Michael being the "man of the house," and it therefore needing to come from him?
After seeing the movie so many times I believe the reason that the other vampires were able to get in was because Max was already invited in. They never made it clear but that's the only thing that makes sense.
I love Bad Moon. It features my favorite dog, German Shepherd vs my favorite movie monster Werewolf. What a PHUCKING fight!! I’d love to read the book but the last time I looked online, used copies were ridiculously priced!

I wish an extensive history on David as a vampire would be interesting. Finding a photo of him dressed as a Union Civil War Veteran. In a battle he is deverly wounded and that's when he is preyed upon and given the choice to live forever. Simular to Interview with a Vampire.
I don't remember where I read it but the first draft of the script originally has Peter Pan and the Lost Boys being vampire children. Hence, why they never grow old. Peter Pan was changed to David and they were aged up to elder teens/young adults in a subsequent draft.
The Lost Boys is a cult classic like Hellraiser. Both of them feature Supernatural Elements and show what to do if you're in a problematic curcumstance as this. For I am 30 Years Old and I HAVE NEVER seen this 80s horror movie. I know its hard to believe but its true. For my Mom actually has a VHS copy of this film in her room but we cannot watch it of course for we do not have a VCR anymore. But it is thanks to you and your review that I now know how it happened. For the only movies that comes close to this is Fright Night and 30 Days of Night. Now I need to watch The Howling Franchise.
Great video,so I have request that possibly you check into the Lost boys sequels as at the end of one of them ( think the second one) there's a short clip one of the frog brothers meeting a vampiric sam,but sadly due to Cory Haim's untimely death we would never find out how he got turned as at this time the frog brothers are separated and one is now a vampire and hunting his brother, I don't want to give too much away..
I love this movie. The saxophone player, Tim Cappello, is quite famous and returned for a cameo in Gunships song Dark All Day. One of the vampires in the What we do in the shadows movie did that joke about the noodles turning into worms with one of his victims.
I really love how the actor who played the Master Vampire, Max, portrays the character as a lovable dork. I've always believed the most powerful ability of a vampire is its ability to blend in, pass as human, and come off as non-threatening as possible. Vampires have alot of powers. Super strength, speed, enhanced senses, regeneration, fangs and claws, shape-shifting, mind control, sometimes magic. However, if ppl know what they are, they become very vulnerable. Sleep during the day, sunlight kills them, crosses, holy water, garlic, can't enter a home without an invite, no reflection, etc. Ppl realize what you are, and then it'll go from sugar to shit real quick. Therefore, the most successful Vampires, the ones who can survive for the longest, are not the most powerful or best warriors, but the ones who no one would even think is a vampire even if they know Vampires are real and about. It's a big reason why I didn't like Jerry from the Fright Night remake. Motherfucker just stood out too much. Nothing against the actor, he delivered a great performance.
Lost Boys is BY FAR the best vampire movie in existence. Meyer should have taken a few notes. The crap on Twighlight was so damn "glamorous and glitzy", it was really all I could do not to laugh at the melodramatic characters. My kids grew up watching TL, so I introduced them to Lost Boys. They were blown away. 😂
😂 smart Kids. They really liked it i bet 👍 Part2 sux, plot all over...who bit the Frog Brother etc. Never seen Part 3 but with 2&3 they were just vampiring/parasiting ( isnt that what they are) on the success of the Original and trying to squeeze out every drop of blood,i mean $, that they could get. I get that being a vampire is a curse but I kinda prefer it when they can still eat food, it's like it makes them seem more human. Sometimes it makes it even feel like they don't NEED to feed on people but they CHOOSE to which makes them much more chilling. Someone who has to eat babies because of some curse is way less scary than some dude who does it for fun.
@@mrcheesemunch you can eat candy and junk food all but eventually you need real food for sustenance and nutrition. The blood must have some sort of nutrition regular food does not.
Or they were bugs and worms
@@johnparla6252 This comment genuinely triggered me. 😂Omfg I never once thought, oh yeah for sure it’s bugs. I always thought it was actual real food and they were just making him hallucinate that it was bugs. But omfg the other way around makes my world shatter. 😮😅
You need to watch lepercon 🍀. It made a old man kiss woman but the woman was a fan that shredded his face. 😉
The kids were the best thing about this movie. The Frog brothers are adorably tough, and Sam literaly reacts to his brother's aggressiveness as if he had caught him having sex in their parents' bedroom. Today's cinema needs children like these in its films more than ever.
You mean the "Frog" Brothers.
Edgar & Alan. Inspired use of names!
I love how Michael's lil brother is basically like "Michael, you're a vampire! I'm telling mom on you!"
The beginning of the 2 Cory's drama is this movie right here. And no we probably don't need more kids to become like them and if you believe Feldman's stories they had been sexually abused.
@@DeathBYDesign666 The beginning of Corey Haim's being SA'd and his initiation into drugs and alcohol began with the movie "Lucas" and his abuse "allegedly" by Charlie Sheen during the filming of it. They had made accusations towards about three other people but no one from "The Lost Boys" has been mentioned by either one of them. Please stop spreading misinformation and check your facts before making statements that are not true.
One of the most iconic vampire movies of all time and one of the best actors Kiefer Sutherland was amazing as that bad guy in many movies but is so good at portraying them, especially with his dyed blonde hair and attitude, keep up the great work man loved your work for a long time and you always deliver especially since I don’t know a lot of TH-camrs that cover vampires and werewolves like you do that much and know how to make it simple but also give a good sense of humor
You should watch him in freeway with Reese Witherspoon. Gem of a film that is a modern day twist on little red riding hood
The Lost Boys soundtrack was my favorite soundtrack of all time.
Same here!
I love the Lost Boys because I don't live far from Santa Cruz and I recognize some of the locations shot in this movie.
The Lost boys , Fright Night , Dracula and Interview with the vampires are all time fav vampires films of mine
Same here 👋
Me too, I also like Vampires 1998, The Forsaken and Near dark ❤
One of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I was only three when it came out but I guess my dad saw it in theaters and loved it so so much that as soon as it came out to VHS, he bought a copy for Home. I remember watching it over and over again with my family on VHS as a kid.
David wasn't the head vampire 🦇 Max was pulling the strings behind the scenes
Everyone is aware of that
Love this movie!
It's both funny and scary from start to finish!
It's a wild ride!
Saw this on TV at my grandma's house for the first time.
I remember watching this as a kid it was the first time I ever saw vampires on screen since then its been one of my favourites to this day
Cry, little sister - Thou shall not fall
Come, come to your brother - Thou shall not die
Unchain me, sister - Thou shall not fear
Love is with your brother - Thou shall not kill.
So it's a song about incest?
Love the theme song to The Lost Boys. Cry, little sister (thou shall not fall)
Yeah, it's a great song, indeed
@ham472 I've seen the song used in a video here on YT, paying tribute to the movie "Hocus Pocus". It's pretty good, given the sibling relationship parallels. (5/31/2024)
I love Cry Little Sister but I lost my heart to, "To The Shock Of Miss Louise".
Now there's a song that's been living rent free in my head for 37 years!
I've had a burning need to compose music for Fairground Organs ever since.
I too, love the song. I absolutely love Marilyn Mansons cover of the song. It's amazing.
19:26 Dude played as Bill in "Bill n Ted's excellent adventure." He didn't reach the success as Reeves but worthy of note for his supporting role in this firm. Too bad his character gets killed before the finale.

I always thought David was Max's only biological son. The others were the brothers he's given him to expand his family through the many years they've lived.
Timmy Cappella the saxophone guy was Tina Turner's Saxophonist and now hes been on a bunch of Gunship albums and it's awesome
Back when The Lost Boys came out, it was so popular because the Coreys were definitely teen heart throbs, but it hurts to know about all the terrible things that happened to them? They tried warning ppl but of course what a lot of folks do to victims, call them liars and ask "Why Didn't U Say Something Before?" Ppl don't think about how those very important/very wealthy ppl, have a lot of power and can make it look as if a star took their own life? Poor Cory Haim, was consumed by it just like others. He used to be my teen crush, and I never could've guessed that he was going thru the same abuse as I did? RIP - Corey Haim 💔

And he looks miserable in the picture, like he's getting a mugshot photo taken lol
I think you're looking too much into the blood bottle. I believe it was used as an easier way to trick people into becoming vampires instead. Plus if Max wanted all other vampires under his thrall without making himself known, it makes sense to use a convenient bottle.
Second tidbit that i mention whenever i see lost boys get reviewed.
The second film features Angus Southerland, Kiefer's younger brother, essentially playing a stoned version of David named Shane.
The lost boys. I remember when I first came out I saw it in the movie theater not once not twice, but four times. Yes, I really like the movie. I even bought the soundtrack.
The original glittering vampies! They bleed glitter! LOL
I lived in Santa Cruz in college and loved walking around the areas where they filmed this movie. It's a classic!
Are you sure you got the place right? Pretty sure it was filmed in Santa Monica.
The glittering Part IS by far the least stupid Thing about Twilight. At least If you read the book, she linked the invunerability of vampires to their skin having stonelike propperties, they are cold and hard and Like a Crystal their skincells Break the light . . .Like If you got a slice of Chicken breast, but stronger since the Material IS more stonelike.
Another quite bright thought was, that you get vanpires are stronger then older ones, since they still contain all of their own blood! . .
AS someone Said, If only she tried for Horror or Action she would BE a way better author

Grandpa was a half vampire too. It was discovered in the sequel comic book 😊. And the woman he dated was a head vampire too
That's why he was into taxidermy as well.
Elaborate. Does he have powers? Does he age? Is one of his parents a vampire or did he get half changed?

Oh I love League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! It's one of my favorite guilty pleasures
Too bad they made Quartermaine the leader instead of Mina which she was in the graphic novel.
@@catspawgardner3213 ahh well, that's Hollywood for you
League is also a classic to me, I totally can see why it was a huge failure, they didn't have enough time for each character and expect you to know the characters in the stories from their books(I know the books so to me it was good).
Another thing they didnt have time for, a coherent plot
YES!!! My favorite vampires!!! Thank you so much!! These guys made my childhood and angsty teenage years!! 😁❤️
Cogan Lollins,
I would love for you to take a look at Vampires vs.
4:29 - It seems like nobody in town likes these guys……🤣 I don’t know why but that line tickled me, couldn’t stop laughing 🤣🤣
To the younger ones out there. I can not explain how cool the 2 Corey's and this movie was in 87, especially to 10 year olds. Classic
This and Fright Night. My childhood favourites!
The guy playing the sax looks like the antagonist from the eighties , Cyborg.
Right! And of course they would have the dilemma of staking them.
That definitely would be interesting.
I can answer that
No they were hippies, DRUGGIE parents. The parents of the Frog brothers, that's what they were.
@@doreenbierensOkay. You explained yourself well there.😀

The shirtless sax guy was in Tina Turner's band. Tim Capello
He's also a vampire hunter in the Lost Boys comics.

Jason Patric who plays Michael is the half-brother of Joshua John Miller who plays Homer in ‘Near Dark’.
Their father, the legendary Jason Miller who is best known as Father Karras in the Exorcist, would later go on to co-star in the 1979 Tv pilot: Vampire with Richard Lynch and EG Marshall. It is the only time that a father and two son's have starred in three separate vampire films.

I absolutely love your content mate. I'm a bit of a vampire fan myself lol. The Lost Boys is up there with the greatest in the genre, and I love revisiting it.
One thing about Micheal inviting Max in. He was already invited to dinner. He didn't need a second invitation.
Likely to emphasize the point
I feel like there's a certain significance to how Max says it, though. "You're the new man of the house, and I'm not coming in until you invite me." Maybe just getting Lucy's invitation to come over wasn't actually an invitation across the threshold, or possibly it has something to do with the statement about Michael being the "man of the house," and it therefore needing to come from him?
LOVE 💕"Lost Boys"! When vampires we hot and movies were great.
Silver Bullet next, like Lost Boys you have Corey Heim. Just a neat fun fact I guess.
What I find interesting is that the vampire comic book title changes through out the movie
There were different comics, about the same subject.
Let's be honest. The Lost Boys of this movie were 1000x more resoectful to the Peter Pan playwork than the Peter and Wendy film 😅

ABSOLUTE CULT CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
After seeing the movie so many times I believe the reason that the other vampires were able to get in was because Max was already invited in. They never made it clear but that's the only thing that makes sense.
They didn't need an invitation to enter, an invitation gave vampires supernatural protections.

I wish an extensive history on David as a vampire would be interesting. Finding a photo of him dressed as a Union Civil War Veteran. In a battle he is deverly wounded and that's when he is preyed upon and given the choice to live forever. Simular to Interview with a Vampire.
The best Vampire movie of all time. Great review
Lost Boys - an awesome story. BTW the sax player was one of Tina Turner's backup musicians.
I don't remember where I read it but the first draft of the script originally has Peter Pan and the Lost Boys being vampire children. Hence, why they never grow old. Peter Pan was changed to David and they were aged up to elder teens/young adults in a subsequent draft.
By far my favorite vampire make up… amazing yellow eye contacts and distinctive sharp canines.. always legendary
so happy you did this movie
Typical Hollywood 🙄
Still one of the best vampire movies of all time
Gotta love the nod in the third one to werewolves when the girl in the comic book store reveals her yellow lupine eyes.
