I lost my brother to suicide. He was an alcoholic and had years of mental health problems. Dr. Bright once said she believed addiction was really the human attempt to pacify a nutritional deficiency and I wish I realized this years ago.

Agreed...that is actually more important than diet...as most centenarians have proven..the carnivore diet will extend longevity..but its not the main key or be all and end all.

Dr. Chaffee, autism can be completely reversed. My son is recovered. A big part of his recovery was the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I believe that carnivore would have been even more helpful.

It's great to hear that your son successfully recovered from his autism symptoms, but as someone who's worked with various people with autism for over a decade, I imagine certain types and levels of autism aren't reversible. Being able to alleviate or eliminate milder symptoms of autism is probably a more correct way of phrasing it 😅 Nevertheless, it's pretty amazing to hear that more highly functional people with autism may be able to reverse some of their symptoms!

    • @rawmilkmike
      @rawmilkmike 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

@DillaryHuff I agree with you on a more superficial level. But it's the more severe symptoms that can have the most dramatic change. There are most likely many things that can't be changed. But how would you know what those are. And does it really matter? I'm pretty sure someone who loses a child to autism will never get that same child back again. But autism can be a subjective diagnosis. That's where the term cure can come in. Some people will lose their diagnosis when their symptoms are improved. A child who is completely lost to their parents can come back.

First time I've heard someone using the expressing "feeling like drowning or being under water". Have suffered both anxiety and psychosis and depression. Now seventeen days on meat, with some eggs and cheese at times.
First ten days was great, then it hit me. Cravings are there, tiredness, pain in all my bones, but what is the most important for me, is that the under water feeling on the left side of my head and ear is slowly lessening. Suffered from headaches for the past thirty years or so, and always had the fogginess, and feeling of being underwater, especially on the left side of my head. And the hearing on my left ear is compromised. But I can literally feel eating meat is rearranging my brain. So pushing on 🙂
Thank you so much for these talks!

Carnivore has saved me from atypical anorexia, and is giving me the fuel, and insight to fight the nasty lies thought in the past I would have believed it. Even with illness I'm getting more energy, and I'm getting stronger. My doctor said if you're Carnivore and you get run over by a truck it's going to hurt. My white blood cell count is up, and a few other markers. My red blood cell count is elevated too, and I drank lots of fluids so I'm not sure what that's about. On the whole he's very happy with me. I appreciate Ally & Anthony the Stoic doctor so much! His discussion on Autism (ASD) is spot on. It develops in utero when the fetus' brain is developing. I have been asking people I know on the spectrum if their birth mother ate red meat & most said NO! So there may be relation there. I'm on the spectrum & my birth mother abhors "FLESH" as she calls it. She won't eat steak at all.. only occasionally a burger but 99% of her protein comes from cheese, chicken breast without skin, eggs and occasionally salmon. Others said their mothers' ideas of meat-protein is also skinless chicken breast! There very well may be something to this. I encourage anyone in the field to do more research to look into it & see if they find the same thing... non-red meat in utero affecting the neurological development of the developing child.
Depression is such a heartbreaking thing... as is chronic anxiety... People look at us and see we look totally normal & assume we're fine! Mental health is an invisible injury & we really need to normalize talking about it! Now we know for sure it can be changed with proper diet & nutrition. It can strike at any time, any age, any society, any social standing, white collar, blue collar.. ANYONE. There is no shame in it but please tell someone. Talk about it. Im 15 (Im male and work out), I want to be a carnivore and avoid all junk (carbs, fruits, vegetables) for health and aesthetic reasons. I want to use my lunch money to buy eggs every day so I can have something to eat, but I'm not allowed to buy anything for myself because "everyone in the family eats the same and no one gets different food in this house" but I avoid my mums cooking because it's mostly junk and only eat the carnivore stuff in the house which is very limited. This has resulted in my family being against me and almost daily arguments with my father which is slowly chipping away on my mental health. Do I go on the "normal" diet that my family eats, shut up to get accepted by my family again (even though I hate how I feel on a normal diet and can't stop eating carbs and sugar because it's terrible and addictive)? They are super arrogant and stubborn and don't want to even read/hear any information.
Stick to your guns. It's great that you are learning about health and making it your priority at a young age. It will pay you great dividends later on. If I were you, I would just not talk about what you're eating or doing. Buy your eggs and/or other meat/fish as you can...and keep it to yourself. Don't let them keep you down. It's your body and your right. They are just jealous and want to control you, keep you down with them, and not have you basically illuminating how crappy they eat, and probably how crappy their health and appearance is. Interesting how the herbs affected you. One of my customers gave me a baggie of butter cookies. While Ive never really liked sugar, I did like butter cookies. I thought Id bring them home, and set them out for Thanksgiving. Well, I ate the whole damn bag of cookies! I havent had anything like this in almost a year. Besides the diharea I had just after eating them, I had a pang of depression( not normal for me) hours later, I know positively that is was the sugar, grain, or both.
Another time, I had a little bit of tomato, and felt aggitation for some time after, aggitation was common for me, before Carnivore.

I am interested in how chronic stress impacts insulin resistance. I have been carnivore for 100 days and was feeling the energy & mental clarity that people describe on carnivore. I had already been very low carb/ keto for 9 months. This summer I had a car crash that has increased my underlying stress/ anxiety. I feel that I have stepped backward on my carnivore journey / lost some of the mental health benefits. I had some concussion symptoms for about 2 weeks after the crash but generally I feel the crash has affected my freeze response / perception of lower levels of safety in everyday life . I feel it would be helpful to discuss the impact of stress / cortisol/ insulin levels for people on their carnivore journeys. I also have asthma and I am slowly reducing my daily preventer which i am only now understanding is effectively a stress hormone and will be working against my aim to reduce my insulin resistance. My mother was T2D and when I realised the connection with visceral fat I went on keto/ carnivore to address that. My BMI is now 20 which was my target but I feel now my "journey" has become more bumpy. Any discussions on stress/ cortisol/ links to insulin resistance and even discussion of brain health/ concussion would be much appreciated.

Stress/anxiety is a factor...raised cortisol etc as that can override any diet..anxiety symptoms alone are numerous...suffered with anxiety all my life due to ancestral and childhood trauma and although the carnivore diet has helped emmensely...I have to be mindful of what is anxiety symptoms or lacking certain nutrients as stress/anxiety can affect absorption aswell.
So I listen to my body and on days I feel I need to fast longer or eat more..I go with that...I have ashman symptoms on and off...which is actually a symptom of anxiety/stress.
The key is being mindful of anxiety/stress and illiminating any triggers.
The body is powerful and it will guide you to do and eat what's required...so the best thing you can do is not stress about it and more specifically...don't compare yourself to other people who have very little anxiety and stress in their lives.
Do you and go with what feels right.
Unfortunately...most people don't realise that most stress/anxiety comes from ancestral and childhood trauma and manifests as physical if not addressed..regardless of diet.
So your main focus should be on addressing trauma/stress/anxiety.
These carnivore doctors don't talk or include childhood issues in there evaluation of health..simply because they don't understand it and know very little about ancestral trauma...they also have more financial freedom and alot less stress.
So when it comes to diet..they are great...but overall health and stress/anxiety...they aren't great.

This conversation was interesting. My question Dr. Chaffee is pertaining to your mood switch upon consuming herbal seasoning. Could it be that the reason Carnivore helps so many illnesses with phantom causes is due to the parasites one has in their gut? I think the overly sugar and carb diets americans have feeds these parasites that most definitely cause mood swings and depression. Candida being a form of parasite overgrowth for example, but there are millions of these parasites that always go un diagnosed. I strongly believe this is the reason the carnivor diet has helped me tremendously.

Glucose and vit C have almost identical molecular structure. They are carried by the same transporters. So, If you don’t consume carbs there’s no competition between them to be transported. That’s why on a standard diet vit C needs to be supplemented, to saturate enough to get transported an adecuare amount. The amount of vit C required is minimal and eating only meat is enough as long as almost no carbs are on the diet. I hope it’s clear enough… 😅

While it can be very difficult to get raw milk in some places, obtaining milk that's not homogenized is much much easier. Any food can be adulterated. I agree when a person is suffering they shouldn't mess around. But I was able to get the same result most of these people are seeing simply by adding a quart of raw milk a day to my diet five days a week. It cured allergies. It did not cause them.

    Hello,
Been looking at your carnivore video's/info and was wondering ... if our ancestors evolved on meat, did they (in your opinion) , before harnessing fire for cooking, eat raw meat? The point being, they must have had copping mechanisms to deal with the related food born illnesses. If they were scavenging, as well as hunting, it stands to reason that they would have likely come across the occasional rotten egg, fish, carcass, etc. Seems like potential for big problems, health wise. Just trying to connect the evolutionary dots.
    And,
I have been diagnosed with hydrochloridia via the Heidelberg test, so I'm aware that I need to supplement with betaine HCI ... beings that this is a problematic condition for certain individuals, including a high number of older folks in general, I'm wondering if you advise HCI supplementation for those that may have troubles processing protein?
    Thanks,

I love plants in a kingdom Platea sort of way, but plants evolve much quicker than mamals on a ecosystem level. They have many, many toxins that make them most of them damaging to eat in any quantity which is why humans only eat a small portion of them and even those can have issues. Eating much more meat has made me healthier, more emotionally stable, better recall, mental acuity and on and in. I am not on a carnivore diet. But i strongly encourge people to understand that as your species or any other species evolves so does everything else in the ecosystem with you does to increase its survivability. Anything that reproduces at a quicker rate with more off spring and more genetic mutation chances along with human arrogance makes us less likely to see or understand subtle changes. Est more meats and fish, eat less plants and cetrainly steer clear as possible from processed industrial food as free of pesticides and chemicals as possible. It will change your life. And dont eat/inject/experiment to close to your own species on the genetic species side. There are especially damaging reasons to never do that which does not end well.

Creatinine 1.10. Estimated GFR is 88, stable from 8 months ago. Lift for 30 minutes per day. Do i need to cut back on protein or should I expect this with high protein and lifting?

Do you take a lot of NSAIDs, supplements, caffeine? Sometimes when you're getting all you need you dont need the extra supplements. Are you taking creatine and staying hydrated. Meat diet creates higher risk for dehydration that coupled with some of the other factors I mentioned can cause issues with kidneys.

@@shiftyparadigm7049 Thank you for the response. I was thinking that it might be insufficient fat. This is the reason I started eating ribeye instead of chicken breasts... But I could also try adding more fat (butter, tallow, etc.) . Thanks

@@jms4406 Thanks for the reply. I quit caffeine a few months ago ... But I had been drinking a whole lot previously for sure (a crutch for when in was having cravings). As a side effect of quiting, I don't need as much NSAIDs now, since I no longer get regular migraines. I had previously been consuming (up until 8 months ago) a ridiculous amount of fair life protein shakes. However, since then I have tried to cut all food "products" out of my diet. I basically eat just eggs, beef, salmon, and chicken (thighs) now. I think what you are saying about hydration makes sense. BUN/Cr was also elevated, which can suggest a dehydration as a possible cause. Thanks for your help

So if we all change over to a carnivore diet What happens to the environment? Because we all should realize there is only so much space for animals that need open land . Seriously there are way too many humans for us all to go carnivore. Tell us what should be done, Are we to eat all the vegans, Cheers from a dedicated carnivore.

Animals are grazed mostly on land that is too hilly for agriculture. Can't harvest crops on that land anyway. Cows also put nutrients back into soil with manure this helping the land and soil. Crops ruin the soil.

Though beef is promoted as top choice, any ruminant animal is a very good choice. Almost every day I see white tail deer the "beef" I grew up on. I'm on the east coast of the US, the most populated area and there is plenty of room/fields for meat animals. Thing is and most haven't realized this is, you eat a 1/3 to 1/2 in amount to what you did on a plant based diet. After the change, your satisfied with so much less.

Anthony Chaffee, thank you so much for sharing your story of mental health!
I have a background of brain health issues (shoutout to Dr. Daniel Amen!) of more than 20 years, being on medication pretty much all of the time. Severe major depression, got diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 37 three years ago.
I made an attempt on carnivore in September 2023 but could not manage my cravings and completely fell off the wagon three weeks in.
On November 7th 2023 something inside of me shifted and I went all in. 90% beef, butter, some eggs but not on a daily basis. Got into Ketosis pretty fast and without any side effects and I keep feeling better and better every day.
Today, on day 10 of carnivore, my brain is crystal clear, I am calm and feel so good! I noticed I can keep up counting stitches crocheting while watching YT-videos of you and other carnivores, which was absolutely impossible to do before, especially as English is not my first language and I have to listen carefully.
Thank you for doing what you do and being who you are!
    Lots of love from Germany!

    • @colinthomson5358
      @colinthomson5358 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

Carnivore will probably help. Eating loads of fat will.
But you can also take tons of Niacin and see if it helps. Vitamin B3 helped thousands of people with schizophrenia - they probably suffered the mental effects of Pellegra but hey maybe 50% of Schizophrenics are actually suffering from Pellegra so give it a shot!
Start with 100mgs then add an extra 50mgs every day until you get to ~ 0.5 - 1 gram a day.
Splitting the dose over the day may help. 200mgs at morning noon and night. But remember to build up as you will eventually get a Niacin flush which can be scary if you take too much. Tolerence builds fast but it also goes away fast.
So if you take a weeks break from B3 you will have to start off on the smaller dose and build up.
Go read a book about mental health and Niacin - there are a bunch of different books about it.
I think the Doctors name was Albert Hoffer.

I am on my fifth month of carnivore and down 60 lbs so far.
    My sciatica is gone.
My hair which I started losing in my twenties when I went vegan and vegetarian and then transitioned to a very low calorie diet for a long time, is starting to grow back.
The greatest thing about this WOE is that I'm eating. Most of my life when I tried to lose weight, I would fastidiously count calories every solitary day. Add 50% to my calories to make sure that I accounted for absentmindedness and forgetfulness and the fact that calories aren't accurately measured and can be off by 20%. Then after I do all of that, there would be weeks where I would hit plateaus and either fast, or cut calories more, or try to cut fat from my diet.
Now when I've plateau I take it as a sign to eat more, and make it fattier, and that's worked every time. I'll have breakfasts some days that are 1,500 calories Eight eggs cooked in half a stick of butter with a juicy steak. For lunch have some chicken wings. For dinner have more beef, either as a roast, or more steak, or hamburgers. My one guilty pleasure is cheese on my burgers, or some times cheese on my chicken. And not good raw unpasteurized cheese but processed cheese. But it doesn't seem to be hurting at the moment.
