Very, very sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty. It's a terribly sad time when you lose a beloved pet. I am sure he had a very happy life with you all and that your life was enriched by having him.

Here is my diy, i was looking for curtains for my master bedroom and bathroom they connect so I wanted the same color in both rooms. Well when I saw the price of new curtains even at walmart they were really expensive .My answer to this was Ill make them untill I saw the price of fabric. So what I did was I bought flat sheets and made them. The sheets were so much cheaper than the curtains or fabric. Plus you can find so many colors and prints.

I have just had my husband repurpose a 13 ft trampoline frame into the most stunning metal flower arch for our garden. It cost zero to do and took about 4 hrs. It makes me so happy. I have flowers in hanging baskets displayed on it,5 of them and I am planting jasmine and wisteria to climb all up all over the frame to cover it. I couldnt possibly afford to go buy one of these massive frames so I am really delighted. I am so sorry for your loss of your kitten you must be so heartbroken.I am thinking of you and sending you a big virtual hug.x

Since I am a very early riser and my husband has retired, he makes the bed when he gets up. He hated the duvet because of its size. To make morning life easier for both of us, I have the duvet tri-folded length wise at night and then roll it up like a burrito toward the end of the bed. It is rolled off the bed onto a bench which located at the foot of the bed. In the morning, the burrito duvet is rolled out on top of the bed and then unfolded. Bed making takes less than 2 minutes. THIS HAS BEEN A WIN-WIN!

I’m so sorry about sweet Loris. That is always difficult when you lose a pet.
As soon as you starting demonstrating the bag fold, I stopped the video, grabbed my bags, and watched the rest of it while I folded. It made my soul happy! 😂 Thanks for always inspiring and sending love our way. May the Lord bless it all back to you in many, many ways!

My big DIY project was to rebuild one of my brick stoop steps. My house is 70 years old, and I rebuilt much of the stoop 20 years ago. That repair lasted 18 years and when one step started to degrade, I tried to hire someone to replace the whole stoop. Two handymen said the job was too small and two others said it was too big. After talking to others and doing research on TH-cam, I figured I had to do it again myself. Techniques and products have improved over 20 years, so it wasn't as messy as the first time I did it. I had to set up a special drying/curing system, since it was still cold out. Got it done and was pleased to mark it off my list. It's satisfying to get a long-standing repair completed.

I also apply the folding technique to tea towels, bath towels and bed linen.
The tea towels now fit very nicely in a kitchen drawer. The towels are very nice in a basket. And the bedding is no longer in a pile in the closet, but nicely in baskets.
Duvet cover, pillowcase and mattress cover sheet are folded tightly and miraculously they come out of the closet wrinkle-free. No more falling piles. You can also do this with, for example, T-shirts or sweaters. Hmmm maybe even your socks 🙂

    • @mellibee100
      @mellibee100 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Do you mean you fold them all I to triangles as well? You have given me the idea to fold the single sheets into triangles and the double sheets square so that I can instantly recognize what I am picking out of the linen closet!

    • @nickybookz222
      @nickybookz222 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes I make complete packages of it. First put the mattress cover, then the duvet cover and then the pillowcase.
Then fold everything together as you do with bags. In this way you have a complete bed set together. When you change your bed you have everything together in one package. I fold it up once it's out of the wash and dry. No sharp wrinkles anywhere in this way and therefore I don't have to iron. Because you fold it tightly and everything actually has round thick edges, you have so few wrinkles.@@mellibee100

LOVE THE TRIANGLE BAG FOLDING TIP!!!!! EXCELLENT!!!!! This past week I used up the last of my handsoap in a 16 oz. Pump bottle. I decided to pour my shampoo into it so my arthritic hands will be spared from the conventional top that gives my hands so much trouble in the shower. Now, one simple depression of the pump gives me a frugally- consistent portion of shampoo and spares my hands. Color matches my bathroom too! Have a safe and fabulous Labor Day weekend! May the wonderful memories you have of Loris bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead. Wishing you and Paul a wonderful holiday weekend!

Oh, Emmy! I’m so sorry for your loss of Loris. I’m not sure how I missed it on instagram. Heartbreaking to lose a family member.
May your memories of him bring a smile to your face and heart ❤️
I have a tip for you with your instant pot that I do on fast release. I put a dish towel over the top and use tongs to move the valve to release. That way, I don’t get scalded by hot steam.
My frugal repurpose would be using full size bushel baskets that I painted and now use them in my laundry area for my dirty clothing. One for whites/lights, one for darks and one for linens. Built in handles to carry out to the clothesline. They can handle a lot of weight. So much more fun than the plastic clothes baskets!
The recipe looks yummy! Leftovers could be turned into a rich creamy chicken rice soup by adding more broth and veggies. Yum! Two meals in one! Will be doing this recipe for sure! One of those recipes where you have everything in the house all the time, right?
Thanks for another great video ❤️

My simple repurposing hack is this: The ironing board we received as a wedding gift 39 years ago is still sturdy and strong. I set it up in our guest room at 'sitting down' height, add a chair, and it is my favorite crafting table! The long length is perfect for spreading out card making materials or colored pencils and paper or even water coloring supplies. I have a hard surface sketching board I lay on it (about 12x16) for my drawing and painting surface. My ironing board is also great at a standing height for wrapping gifts or doing little projects. And of course I use it for occasional ironing! Versatile and and stands folded behind the door when not in use! Take care! Donna

I fold my plastic bags. I had about 60 in a coffee canister. We did it when I was in day care for 2 years old. Soiled clothes. We went through 48 bags a week. Even more when it was potty training. Our cabinet was small so this kept them neat and easy to access.

I just got a glass beaded ankle bracelet with some beads missing at goodwill for $2.99. I took the beads apart, used some stretchy clear string from Michaels and rebeaded it to be a bracelet. Each bead was 3 or 4 dollars individually at Michaels. So instead of buying expensive beads from Michaels, I used an old beaded anklet s good glass beads from goodwill to repurpose a bracelet I really liked.

So sorry about your kitty! Lots of hugs. It's so hard to lose them, I once had a cat, Max, I'll never forget him, such a personality. He only lived 4 years. We found out later he had some kind of genetic disease, but I was glad we gave him a good life, because we rescued him. Now I find myself anxious as our rescue kitty Gus is nearing that age, but all we can do is give them good lives and cherish them. They'll always be with us in spirit. 🙏 Great job with the artwork, WOW! I recently purchased some really pretty yarn on clearance so I'm going to knit some fingerless gloves. Guess what I did while I watched ... folded plastic bags into triangles! lol I LOVE this, and will be doing it moving forward!! Also, loved what Paul did with the iron flowers. Paul reminds me of my Dad, who was very handy and could think outside the box just like Paul. I’m currently watching TH-cam videos on how to replace the ballasts in my kitchen’s fluorescent light fixture. If Dad was still here he’d be talking me through the process. Later I’ll be hand mending a jean jacket that has ripped in a couple of spots. It’s too worn to probably be worn in public but I love it and it will be perfect for doing yard work. I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of Loris. It seems our pets are never with us long enough.

I have recently made a bin and pipe- into a worm flow bin for my red wigglier worms. And made another into a tub that for now has home made compost and some worms working there way through it.
I’ve also used up a load of past it’s date food to make worm chow for the worms to eat. Meaning the kitchen is a bit more organised and the worms are fed well too. And I’ve be grinding down,by hand, all the egg sheds my mum brings me from her house, washed and microwaved for 10secs …. To make grit for the worms so I don’t have to buy rock dust for them . Saved me lots of money.
The worms eat the fruit and veg peelings that we can’t eat or don’t… and I’m now using mine and next door neighbour food and my parents too. Saving so much from the landfill and making lovely vermicompost for my garden. The most natural fertiliser ther is. And it’s better then fertiliser. Love it. My biggest hobby. Only been doing it since Christmas!!! Lol
Thanks for all you show.. I’m trying to learn as much as I can.

So sorry to hear that you lost Loris. 🐈‍⬛ Pets add so much joy to our lives, and losing them is like losing family. Something that I haven’t repurposed yet, but plan to is that I save all the little “bandanas” that the groomer puts on my dog. I like to quilt, and it’s free fabric! So I put it in my stash, and someday it will find its way into a project!

Thank you Paul and Emmy for another great video, We live in California and have to purchase our grocery bags so I use them line our trash cans. I usally just fold them in half but I love the triangle hack, I'm going to give it a try. I also love Pauls diy. I"m so encouraged by your channel I went shopping with a friend today at Hobby Lobby, where she spent $300 I spent $1.49. Also I'm so sorry to hear about your cat, this is the first I've heard of his passing.

    Great video! Love the encouragement.
We have done some recent home updates and tried to do them as frugally as possible. We did some painting, flooring, changed a light fixture, and added bead-board to one room. I didn't want to spend a lot of additional money on updating decor, but I did some frugal tricks. I have my paternal grandparent's old dining room table and chairs and it was pretty scuffed looking. I simply painted it with some quality spray paint to match our decor. It will eventually get scuffed and scratched with regular use, but that's part of the country-living charm to me. I wanted to put some new pictures on our kitchen walls, so I took photos of a hand-written recipe from one grandma and a hand-written page of home remedies from my other grandma. I had poster prints made to fit some frames I already had that had matting in place. I simply covered the existing pictures with the new ones and they look nice and give me all of the warm fuzzy feelings when I look at them.
On Labor Day, my husband painted our front porch (cement) with non-skid paint, as our old paint job was pretty chipped. While our wooden glider was in the yard, I found a dab of paint we had left over from a previous project and painted the glider. I hope to order a new cushion seat for it to make our front porch look nice.
While this is DIY in a different way, I have been preserving our harvests from our garden and orchard. My husband and I gathered our first round of ripe Concord grapes and my daughter and I made jelly--so good! We have been roasting tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, and herbs and blitzing them in the food processor. We're freezing for winter use. We had a glut of jalapenos, so I made some Cowboy Candy--a family favorite. I've also been pureeing and freezing banana peppers as they come in and will make pepper butter (/mustard) soon.
I absolutely love DIY projects and finding ways to repurpose what we already have.
    God bless!

I started folding plastic bags the Konmari way some time ago. I fold down the middle length wise, as you do. Then, I fold that in half, and then in thirds. It takes only seconds and takes up SO much less space!!!
I'm so sorry about Loris's passing. I can understand how traumatic it must have been. Like you said, though, you had 12 wonderful years together and that deserves to be celebrated. Love to you. ❤

This isn’t exactly repurposing or DIY, but I spent a day at the pool to close out summer the other day. While the kids swam, I (very roughly) mended some shirts that have little wholes/stitching coming out, something on that line. Just enough to get a few more months use out of them until the kids outgrow them. They grow so quick so I hate to buy new ones, but also don’t want them walking around with gaping holes at the seems of their clothes, so this was a great option! I’m not fancy seamstress, but it worked!
Edit- I got so excited to comment on the artwork, that I didn’t wait for the question of the day 😉

Very sorry to hear about your Loris. It is difficult losing a pet. We had to have our Dany, a male cat, put down last September 9th. We had had him for over 12 years. He was a rescue. We think he was about 14 years old. He had kidney failure. We think of him every day;he took up so much place in hearts. Have a good day!

Hi Emmy. That one pot meal looked so good. But OMG!!!!!! I am so doing that with my bags. I love the bags from Kroger and don't want to throw those out, but they are starting to take up too much space so I am doing that with my bags. I really need Paul for a few days to hang some of my paintings lol. He did a great job with yours.

Paul's so handy! I have 2 canvasses of similar ugly and plans to adhere colored strips of wood with my custom color choices; but priorities changed and I loved seeing another option. You're so good at finding deals like for the metal sculpture. Well done! Glad you found the joys of instant pot, and the plastic bag triangles are a real space saver.

Just a helpful tip. The large slats in the instant pot handles are so that the lid handles can slide in to hold up the lid. Im so sorry about the loss of your fur baby.
