    At least 36 people have died in the Lahaina fire in Hawaii, Maui County wrote in a statement posted to the county website Wednesday evening.
    Wildfires, whipped by strong winds from Hurricane Dora passing far to the south, took the island of Maui by surprise, leaving behind burned-out cars on once busy streets and smoking piles of rubble where historic buildings had stood. Flames roared throughout the night, forcing adults and children to dive into the ocean for safety.

      You are correct in that. I lost a cabin that I had insured for 30 years with the same company never had a claim until one night it was hit by lightening and burned to the ground. Filed the claim and a couple days later DENIED! Insurance adjuster came to the conclusion that lightening hit a television antenna and it was improperly grounded. Had to all but file a lawsuit against them to get them to pay out and it drug on for the better part of a year. Thank god it was just a cabin and not my primary residence. I am sure these poor people's insurance will claim its an act of god and not covered.

    • @slac25
      @slac25 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Unfortunately they will have to move to a different part of the island or leave the island entirely. The moment your house burns, you’re not getting it back in most cases. Insurance will fight tooth and nail and force you to go to a cheaper property because now the current land is deemed dangerous. My friends STILL haven’t rebuilt their house after the Marshall fire here in Superior next to Boulder, CO and that was almost 2 years ago now. That fire started in the same way too; downed power line due to high wind and caused the largest fire in our states history 🙃

He told me it was his lifelong dream to be able to own and operate a store and sell ukuleles. I could see this man truly loved the life he has been given and loved the work. I can make out the location in the strip mall that looks like it is half burned down at 00:38. All those priceless ukuleles likely destroyed, and a man and his family has lost everything.
