Given all the other awful shit that happens in the game, it's hardly a bridge too far that there is rape but for some I suppose it's too far where as all the gore, killing, torture, is perfectly fine due to the average person being desensitized to such things in as they are much more commonly found in fiction. I would say it's more low lying fruit shock value than some disturbing fetish on the developers part as it is an effective way to make people feel shock and revulsion due to it not being overused in fiction in the same way that excessive gore or violence is. I would say the torture and rape are equally disturbing and uncomfortable things though, they will never not make me feel uncomfortable to see in any media. So kudos to the developer for making one of the darkest, moodiest, shocking, edgy, exisistensial and uncomfortable games out there.

playing F&H is the closest experience in a game that I can think that is comparable to being the protagonist of a story by H.P. Lovecraft. you're human, frail, and at the mercy of forces that are incomprehensible or damaging to the psyche, and every second of struggle for survival is just trying to delay the inevitable.

I would love to see a short lore video about Termina's doppelgangers. I think there is more to them than just being Per'kele's minions , Marina B ending is a great example as it also features Samarie even though B endings require the death of all other contestants
I feel like doppelgangers are a thing of their own, something outside of R'her's influence. People keep seemingly forgetting events that would be impossible to forget. It's as if everything is just swept under the rug and compensated to make it even harder to ever notice. Maybe it's some sort of an outside force, an unknown Old God, that makes sure that the Old Gods are forgotten. The clock in the mausoleum has some sigils that we've never seen right beside the sigils of Old Gods that we know of (including the sigils of ascended humans: Alll-Mer and F&H). Even Sulfur's sigil is in there. It makes me strongly believe that there are other Old Gods, like Vitruvia, that we know nothing of and that they are actively working to make Old Gods obsolete in human eyes.
Couple of things: The way Kaiser/Le'garde dissolves after defeat. What other characters behave this way? The Sulfur God: sulfur is associated with brimstone, fire, sin, Hell, and Satan in the Bible. Given that the Sulfur God is the cast off hatred of Alll-Mer, perhaps we can interpret it as a sort of antichrist figure, and/or an embodiment of Alll-Mer's negative aspects from when he was a mortal human. I do think it's strange that sulfur is associated with yellow, but the Sulfur God is red. Meanwhile, Le'garde becoming the Yellow King made sense, for him playing this anti-savior role in the first game... Excited to see more FaH lore vids and future updates to the game!
The chemical element of sulfur is a bright yellow. An obviously dangerous bright shade of yellow. But melt it and it becomes blood red. I'm not surprised, the color associations make sense
by combining sulfur and mercury we get mercury sulfide aka the philosopher's stone which is red. so... Though I don't know if there is any inspiration from alchemy or it's a mere coincidence
I like to think Cahara, The Girl and Moonless are a canon trio and by the end, get along very well with Cahara sacrificing himself for The Girl's ascension and Moonless somehow escaping the Gauntlet. And D'Arce and Legarde are likly their own duo as well and have the canonical meet-and-fix quest with the Knights such as Jeanne and Sergil. The other two seem to prefer going things alone and have no obvious hints to them joining forces with anyone. As a Daan main I wonder if he has some relation to Cahara's bloodline, since they look fairly similar, but it's very likely just a coincidence. And yet, Pocketcat seems to remember him + is tied to his character.
Yeah, Cahara being the one who took the girl into the darkness feels right... maybe one day we'll get some hard proof about what he and Darce did down there!
Cahara, The Girl, and Moonless being the trio is very bittersweet Knowing how much Cahara wanted his wife out of the red district, he probably saw The Girl as his pseudo child given how he speaks to her if you use him to interact with her
You picked a great time to upload this, I just recently got interested in these games! Since I unfortunately can't play it myself, (The resource juggling & limited saving seems a bit too stressful for me and I don't want my dad to look over my shoulder and see one of the more underdressed enemies) I've been looking for videos that would help me learn the lore, as it seems very interesting from what I've seen so far. I feel like you missed a very interesting bit of Vinushka's lore. [SPOILERS AHEAD] "Vinushka" is not the Old God's real name. You can find an unedited (not censored by the Vatican city) version of Vinushka's skin bible in Donovan's house that tells us that the God of Nature was killed by mankind. "Vinushka" is a name given to the God to signify the great guilt of humanity, the act of killing nature becoming the certain doom that is to come in future. The book itself is hidden in the floor tiles to the right of the ritual circle found in Donovan's house. The house that has a hexen table
That bit of lore was something I was on the fence about adding in this video, but ultimately decided against it because it's a huge can of worms 😂 Will definitely be covered in a future video though!
This fact is reminiscent of Ragnvaldr killing the Iki Turso during his S ending. It wouldn't be a stretch to think that such a beast was only one in a string of kills from him and his theorized lineage. There's so much depth to this series, and I can't get enough of it.

So if you put these things together, it makes sense that Logic could have absorbed the essence of the god of nature. It makes sense thematically too.
L'garde becoming the Yellow King after attempting and failing to embody the Gods is interesting, because both aspects of his new title imply that he's only decayed in his attempt to become a God. He's still only a king and is now yellow (a color denoting envy and cowardice) so it seems that in trying to embody the best of every God, he's ironically become the Anti-God.

I really liked this video. It helps to explain a lot of motivations and ideas behind the Gods. I think it'd be neat to get a video on the history and setting of Termina and Prehevil as a town.
I’d love to see you discuss the particular non god characters like Ragnvaldr and how his bloodline likely connects to August and Moonless in Termina, and it’d also be pretty cool to see you go a little more in depth on the variety of endings from both games. Great video!

I have a feeling that 3rd Fear and Hunger game will be in the future where there will be some kind of Machine God at the top and we will face not only mutated creatures and ghosts but also robots. Bruh, maybe even aliens.
I think the reason Logic was built into Prehivil is because the city is the current Ma'havre, which would explain why it's the location that the 2 new Gods of the game were born in.
I clicked on this video on a whim and I have to say you definitely made me a fan! I'll probably never play the games (can't handle RPGs), but I'm probably gonna watch some playthroughs and lore videos as you make them!
I have a theory, the 20th century ( modern times) is what the new gods where looking for, the many concepts of this era would bring more ascended god's which will ultimately cause a end of days scenario, bringing the end of both old and new gods, plus since the sulphur god is like the opposite of alllmer, he giving anti christ vibes, which makes me lean towards the end of days scenario, but what do y'all think?
This is a great primer! To be honest I tend to get pretty confused about a lot of lore presented in games the way it is in this type, so it's nice to have an overarching explanation to to be able to tie all the little bits of lore you find here and there to lol
Sorry I may be mistaken as I have not fully finished either game but Have looked into the lore but isn't there (maybe) 3 Gods birthed during Fear and Hunger 1? Namely the God of Ultra Violence who may be August in Termina? Granted August may merely be a descendent and it may not be a LITERAL God but I think this is worth noting.
It's not super clear if he actually became a god or not in that ending. I'll definitely go into the OG characters and their endings in a future video though

I don't think it is neccessary for a god to die for ascension. What is neccessary is the god willingly gives agency to the mortal, which may be why it seems to need the death of a god. It would be like giving a monkey a nuke in their eyes. They are not gonna see us as responsible enough to handle the gift. So you have to force them into the subservient position. Direct combat is worthless as we have seen time and again. But it seems there are ways of making such titans kneel.

Do most consider Kaiser or The Yellow King a villain? I don't know if I do or not... so many talk about killing him in each game with revelry but he's trying to accomplish something seemingly for the benefit of all mankind. Whether that's good or not? I'm not sure, but because I'm not sure I wouldn't just shatter his plans so lightly.
I think he's become a villain because while he had good intentions, he refuses to see any good outside of his own goals. On the altar of his obsession, he will sacrifice everything
The more i learn about fear and hunger the more I wanna play it. At this point im past the idea of "no spoilers" so im just going bonkers. Intentially trying to avoid FH2 spoilers though
The cost of suffering.. not only just that but, agony is something a great sacrifice for accension, that supposedly requires the amount of suffering... and yet to be out of limits... In darkness the fear increases and your sanity is loosing and is yet to suffer unendingly.. Edit:A bit of a lore

Logic made a new Green Hue, where the Old Gods come from. She elevates humanity by transforming their souls into new fodder for new gods, rather than taking part in the New/Old/Ascended God system. At least, that's what it seems like

The first Fear and Hunger is probably the closest we have to a Berserk game aside from the Soulsborne and official Berserk games.

I think we will need to have playable Samarie first. Right now we have very little info.

I learned about this series very recently. From all I've seen the games themselves are not games I feel any want to play. The story and world I find interesting. Thank you for being the first real video I could find about the lore. Keep 'em comin.

I really liked this video. It helps to explain a lot of motivations and ideas behind the Gods. I think it'd be neat to get a video on the history and setting of Termina and Prehevil as a town.
I’d love to see you discuss the particular non god characters like Ragnvaldr and how his bloodline likely connects to August and Moonless in Termina, and it’d also be pretty cool to see you go a little more in depth on the variety of endings from both games. Great video!

I think the reason Logic was built into Prehivil is because the city is the current Ma'havre, which would explain why it's the location that the 2 new Gods of the game were born in.

I was actually planning on using the setting of Fear and Hunger for a Call of Cthulhu game. This really helps.
I have a theory, the 20th century ( modern times) is what the new gods where looking for, the many concepts of this era would bring more ascended god's which will ultimately cause a end of days scenario, bringing the end of both old and new gods, plus since the sulphur god is like the opposite of alllmer, he giving anti christ vibes, which makes me lean towards the end of days scenario, but what do y'all think?

This is a great primer! To be honest I tend to get pretty confused about a lot of lore presented in games the way it is in this type, so it's nice to have an overarching explanation to to be able to tie all the little bits of lore you find here and there to lol
Sorry I may be mistaken as I have not fully finished either game but Have looked into the lore but isn't there (maybe) 3 Gods birthed during Fear and Hunger 1? Namely the God of Ultra Violence who may be August in Termina? Granted August may merely be a descendent and it may not be a LITERAL God but I think this is worth noting.
It's not super clear if he actually became a god or not in that ending. I'll definitely go into the OG characters and their endings in a future video though

@@gabrielmelnik6796 an Ascended God, yes it seems so. Logic is a god but she's something weird and it's not clear if Vinushka's death was necessary for her to be born
I don't think it is neccessary for a god to die for ascension. What is neccessary is the god willingly gives agency to the mortal, which may be why it seems to need the death of a god. It would be like giving a monkey a nuke in their eyes. They are not gonna see us as responsible enough to handle the gift. So you have to force them into the subservient position. Direct combat is worthless as we have seen time and again. But it seems there are ways of making such titans kneel.

Do most consider Kaiser or The Yellow King a villain? I don't know if I do or not... so many talk about killing him in each game with revelry but he's trying to accomplish something seemingly for the benefit of all mankind. Whether that's good or not? I'm not sure, but because I'm not sure I wouldn't just shatter his plans so lightly.
I think he's become a villain because while he had good intentions, he refuses to see any good outside of his own goals. On the altar of his obsession, he will sacrifice everything

The cost of suffering.. not only just that but, agony is something a great sacrifice for accension, that supposedly requires the amount of suffering... and yet to be out of limits... In darkness the fear increases and your sanity is loosing and is yet to suffer unendingly..

Logic made a new Green Hue, where the Old Gods come from. She elevates humanity by transforming their souls into new fodder for new gods, rather than taking part in the New/Old/Ascended God system. At least, that's what it seems like
