    Chaos just broke out in the dungeons? Seems like chaos was present there for years. All those decayed corpses, skeletons, and monstrosities. Horrible things had to be going on down there for a very long time.

      The first time I saw screenshots of a blind Trex.... I was like.... how? But the buildup, hearing his steps; then you fight him and have a few turns before he is in range. Finding out his blind and is tracking you by scent... I think it's great build up and introduction of a enemy. I just realized I didn't use footage of the greater blight in the video... dammit past me

      It reminds me of a super old dos game where you're trapped. In a maze and have to avoid/escape a t Rex and you think it won't be scary bc of the old graphics with like 2 whole entire colors... Until you start reading the hints the game gives you to clue you into the location. How you hear the stomps... How it smells you... How you can feel hot, we breath on the back of your neck.....

    Didn't cahara go to the dungeons basically to loot and sell shit for money? I think the only people who went there for le garde was d'arce to free him and Ragnavald to kill him.. Enki was about to kill himself when he had like a premonition to go to the dungeons. Or am I tripping?

    • @tacobanana_forever
      @tacobanana_forever  ปีที่แล้ว +16

      No, you're not tripping, I was having this debate with someone. As best as I can tell, someone hired him to go, but he'd be the type to loot everything. A theory I liked is that Legarde hired him as a fail safe, but that's speculation. I think he might have been the one character that didn't have clear cut motivation, Miro might not have thought so many people would end up loving his game, but that's me just guessing

      IIRC Cahara only cared about bailing Celeste out of indentured servitude as a woman of the night, Le’garde wasn’t a priority for him like it was for Ragnavaldr/ D’arce/ Enki. Unfortunately he didn’t make it out as he was the one who died bringing about the GoF&H, which subsequently means his life as a rich noble in the S ending never came to fruition. As sad as it wound up, he came there for selfish financial gain and wound up dying in the dungeon selflessly helping to change the trajectory of humanity.

  • @orabijuu8550
    @orabijuu8550 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

    my head canon for ragnavaldr is that it is canon that he has panophobia, bwc you can get it if you took the unknown artifact from Vinland. it is named cube of the depths, related to the god of the depths. the depths usually brings out human's primal fear. the fear of the unknown, and through unknown things, ragnavaldr got the fear of everything. this is the same evidence that supports WormGirl's theory about killing the multiple hearts of GodOfDepths. it is located in different parts of the dungeon, making you mark every part of it creating a map like structure in your mind, results for the fear of the unknown be gone, since you actually unlocked all the places of the dungeon(killing the hearts) and opening the deeper parts of the dungeon with the mouth like body of GofDepths.
    tldr: God of Depths brings fear of the unknown, making it relates to how the God of fear and hunger was born

    Very in depth video, love the presentation. I really appreciate all the visuals you provided, and they look to mostly be ai generated. Did you make them for this video yourself? Or is there already a large supply of ai pictures made from the Fear and Hunger fanbase?

    • @tacobanana_forever
      @tacobanana_forever  ปีที่แล้ว +33

      I generated them all. Mostly using screenshots or the character sprites. Sometimes I'll blend some together, so say a character and a location, and then feed that image back into an AI model to get them closer to photorealistic. Also, I had been using a lot of "photorealistic style" images for Fear and Hunger, so in this video I also wanted to mix things up. So I started using stained glass, berserk art style, and the style of various other medieval artists style to generate some more images that were off a different style.
      For a few pictures I added some motion using deep fake software. I did this less since it goes take a bit more work. There's a bit of the girl and Nilvan that I used deep fakes to add some motion to in this video.
      So yeah, i generated the pictures. If there is interest, I can always make the pictures available if anyone wants them. Thank you very much for watching :)

      Thank you very much for the kind words! I'm currently working on my next video and it's awesome to get this type of feedback!
      I'm happy to share about my messing around with AI, i'm just personally fascinated with it's different uses, be it data prediction (regression) or natural language processing. It's so sci fi. I also like the idea of daisy chaining models. So say you generate an image with Stable diffusion, edit it with photoshop, add some details in the back ground using Abode's generative AI, and then change the visual style with Midjourney. I think a chunk of art moving forward will be a mix of "hand" made and AI generated.

      @@tacobanana_forever I think the topic of the video would be something I'd really like to see, but the issue of AI is that it's usage is pretty much anti-art. Fear and Hunger is a mechanically competent game that to a great degree is held with duct tape and glue, and the reason it's considered good, interesting, worth talking about, is because of its artistry, it's characters, how it depicts things, the subjects it handles, the story, lore and other elements.
      in another comment I saw while scrolling to write my own I saw you mention that you ran screencaps of the game through a generator. I dont know how the author of FnH would feel about that, but if it was me that would feel pretty bad. in a way it feels like you have comodified the appeal of F&H just down to its consumable aesthetic, and turned it into a commodity.
      to bring a more tangible example, you may have seen the conversation about the Anime Rock Paper Scissors by Corridor, an AI generated thing that uses as one of its primary training a bunch of screencaps of Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. Mother's Basement has a very good video on the subject (Title: AI Anime, and insult to life itself. just to have someone break it down understandably), and I keep coming back to a phrase from that video where, because of the existance of Corridor's rock paper scissors anime, Geoff says "We are already living in a world where the striking look of Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is less distinctive", and I feel the same way about how you're treating Fear & Hunger.

      Thank you for taking the trouble of typing this up and sharing your perspectives. I'm not an artist, but a science/data nerd, so some of your points may not have been obvious to me, and you do raise points I hadn't considered.
      If I may ask one more question, do you see a ethical difference between an AI image generated with a prompt that draws from a living artist (so say an artist that posted their work to Deviant Art) or a prompt using a historical artist (so like a medieval artists from a different era)?

    • @Nedoiko
      @Nedoiko ปีที่แล้ว +42

      @@tacobanana_forever I have been seeing that some of the grievances of artists regarding AI are hard, and with your question you raise a good point, specially regarding the consent of the artist for using it in training the machine.
      Long story short, with some nuances omited, what many artists have been pointing out is that AI training should be done with artwork and images that belong to the public domain, or with images that are privately owned (for example, I pay an artist specifically to create images to feed into the machine, and they agree to do so). outside of if the images generated count as "art" (which is sort of a personal opinion talk), the ethics are about consent, so using historical art pieces that are legally in the public domain is ok

    • @tacobanana_forever
      @tacobanana_forever  ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I completely agree with you. And thanks again for the perspective. I like the idea (at least for now) of trying to draw from cultural and historical imagery. It would force me to learn more art/photography history, but in the end I think images may come out better, and I can at least try to generate them more ethically (if that's possible)
      In the end, AI companies involved in AI research already have tons of money, while talented, insightful and driven artist struggle to pay bills :(

I don't see AI an unethical or even stealing jobs from artists so I'm cool with that, but my petpeeve is that you didn't disclose that you're using AI art in the vid desc. Which is weird cause you put time to put music you used.

      @@tacobanana_forever If you want my take on AI art vs traditional art: I think creating AI art is ok as long as 1. It's disclosed that it is made by AI and 2. It's not for sale or used in any commercial way.
      Number 1 is because the wat to make traditional art and AI art are just fundementally different that it should be a different matter entirely. Think of it like cooking vs baking; they are both ways to prepare food, but they have different crafts and know-hows to make said food. The guy who submitted AI art "Theatre D'Opra Spatial" at an art competition is an asshole because he disguised art made by a machine into a comptetitions for human artists. He skipped most of the creative process and let the machine handle it; for another analogy this is like using an AI to win a chess tournament.
      Number 2 is more iffy. Imo unless you have every artists' permission to put their art into your AI training data you shouldn't be able to commercially sell your generated image as it is plagiarism. To why I think it's plagiarism: the AI only uses derivation of the trained image without any meaningful changes (meaningful as in no human input) which doesn't protect said image under Fair Use protection laws and doesnt grant it any copyright.

    Why exactly would the Kingdom of Rondon hire Cahara to break out a prisoner they themselves just imprisoned??? O_o Cahara obviously wasn't thinking this pretty blatant BS planted ploy by Le'garde through well enough before committing. 🤣

    • @tacobanana_forever
      @tacobanana_forever  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Straight up, no idea. I couldn't find anything in the lore or the community. My best guess was that maybe it was different branches of the Kingdom maybe? Or like you suggested, Legarde hired someon to hire Cahara.
      I think it's one of those "The plot needs to happen" type of things

    • @Cooe.
      @Cooe. ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tacobanana_forever I don't think Le'garde was trying to hire Cahara specifically, but rather just any talented mercenary who would be confident and crazy enough to be willing to break him out of Rondon's most notorious dungeon and thus help him in his quest to achieve Godhood. And the Midnight Sun would have had MORE than enough accumulated funds to both create and potentially even payout (should against all odds, the mercenary & Le'garde both make it out alive) this fake "from the Kingdom" request.
      Between this "fake" request and deliberately leading Darce on, I personally believe Le'garde was trying to create as many ways possible for him to be successfully broken out of his cell before his likely execution after deliberately placing himself in the dungeon. 🤷
      Aka, after discovering the Cube of the Depths (the key to breaking down the reality barrier between the human world and Ma'Habre, which is also why I think the dungeon immediately starts corrupting and going to shit the second the cube is physically returned there w/ Le'garde; aka its close proximity weakened that reality barrier), he was officially in full "no risk it, no biscuit" mode mentally and thus willing to put his and others lives on the line just for a narrow potential shot at ascension and thus fulfilling the "prophecy".

    • @tacobanana_forever
      @tacobanana_forever  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Cooe. That's a very interesting thought, of the dungeon getting "infected" by the cube. I was wondering what started the event, because it seemed that Rondon had been using the dungeon for a while.
      I agree on Legarde just looking for a mercenary, It would make sense that he was trying to have a plan A, B and C, as a backup to the backup.
      I never considered the cube breaking down the barrier at the ancient door. I'm fascinating by the use of impossible spaces in games, like the underground city in Eternal Darkness, or the twisting hallways at the end of Silent Hill 2

    • @Cooe.
      @Cooe. ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tacobanana_forever I personally don't know if "infected" is quite the right word I'd use for it. 🤷
      IMO, it's more like two drastically different realities with totally different fundamental rules governing them are bleeding into each other in increasing amounts the closer the Cube of the Depths (aka the literal key to the reality barrier) is physically brought to Ma'Habre's then presently shut gate (aka the exact reality barrier in question) located at the dungeon's traditional bottom which both connects together AND keeps these two realities separated.
      Le'garde's imprisonment and thus the Cube's return to the dungeon for likely the first time in MANY centuries (almost surely since the quest of "The Fellowship", who are also likely the ones who put the Cube waaaaaay the hell out in Vinland as a way to help secure their own hold on power [aka, this was done to deliberately prevent the ascension of other New Gods]) likely set this entire chain of events in motion, which is something I COMPLETELY believe that Le'garde was FULLY aware would happen beforehand from his prior research on the Cube itself, Ma'Habre, and Godhood.
      In fact, I think he was counting on it, as the growing chaos in the dungeon would make at least one of his pre-setup break out attempts MUCH more likely to succeed while also weakening the Kingdom's willingness to send increasingly more soldiers to try and regain control after initial failures. (Basically leaving him and his break out party as hopefully the only rational humans still left in the dungeon along with the Cube, and thus able to do whatever they want/need to without external [meaning coming from outside the dungeon] interference).

      Thank you! Glad you liked it :)
      I use a bunch of them, Midjourney does the heavy lifting, then I'll touch up, add, remove, edit or stitch/merge them together in Adobe Photoshop
      I also started to use Stable Diffusion, it's not "moderated" so it allows for more options. Midjourney is very picky about what it'll generate, nothing racy or scary, which makes making images for a horror game hard. Stable Diffusion is harder to learn, but gives you TONS more tools. In my next video "City of Fear and Hunger" i'm using stable diffusion for adding parallax movement to still images.
      In this video I also used DeepFaceLive to animate the faces. So i can generate the image with Midjourney, touch it up/correct it in Photoshop, and then animate it using DeepFaceLive

    "To use the side entrance" no because a smaller door that is still visible and still allows a scent trail wouldn't stop the dogs.

I had thought that the 1st appearance of the God of Fear and Hunger is at the end of the game, so maybe it was a figure in their folklore? Or maybe the God of Fear and Hunger was prophesized?
      I would still play the 1st one even if the plot has been spoiled, there's still a lot to explore, just my 2cents. Termina is more polished and has a lot of charm, but there are something I did also like about the 1st one

      @@tacobanana_forever Realistically I feel I have to give it a go, even if just for uncensored stingers. Honestly man I have never heard anyone touch on on the effigy and I have watched A LOT of FH1 videos. Awesome video btw man, it was good to see such a comprehensive lore through of the entire game

      Now you got me thinking I should spend some time thinking of it.
      The only thing I can think of is the cube compelled the cave dwellers to make an effigy once it got to the alter of darkness?
      Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it!
      Fear and Hunger 1 is awesome, can be rough around the edges and at times frustrating. It might take some time to get thru it, though it's pretty short. But either way, both games are great and I'm sure you'll have a blast

    This video is atleast 20 minutes longer than it needed to be. It's like listening to an English comp student try to hit a word count goal.

    very cool video, watching the full 5h rn, but i have to agree with the other comments pointing out the ai "art" just get real art!! I understand you may not have the funds to commission (which is totally fine) but a lot of artists have already made art that u can you crediting them, and there's lots of artists who would just love to help and have their art shown off in another cool piece of art like these videos! again, cool vids, just saying there's a better way to do that one specific thing :3

    Could you somehow send me the art you used for the beginning of the video? I'm try to make a homebrewed table top game of fear and hunger and that's the best art I've seen thus far.

      taco-banana.com/2023/09/03/the-dungeon-of-fear-hunger-fear-and-hunger-lore-analysis/
      you should be able to save them from there. Let me know if you'd like any others :)
