I'm a minimalist at heart but something about her home really spoke to me. It felt warm n sexy.
Minimalists hate excess, which is not from the heart really.. but when each peace is loved it becomes beautifull again.. and is not repulsive anymore 💖🙂

I took screen shots of every inch. The rough barn-like floor sets the entire tone. Such a mix of yellow and black jungle prints, gold Chinese wallpaper, beige and white walls. Just stunning. I'm 56 years old and I've finally found my dream home. I'm going to make my entire house look like this.

Oh have you seen the Tasha Tudor video? It's in Japanese, easy to find. Now SHE is the ultimate, living, breathing Ghibli grandmother. I hope you'll find the video. And when you're done look for the video on a channel called something like 'Japan BackpackersXpress'. There's no talking, just a walk through Mariko Gonda's garden, which is about an hour and a bit north of Tokyo. I had no idea that Japan had private 'romantic English country garden' that is open to the public. Enjoy! :)

Lucky Henry I agree , I live on a quite small retirement income but its forced me to be very creative to create a very comfortable creative space for my husband and I.

SO authentic, so real, so original and true, Nothing fake or faux. Clearly she appears very happy in her heavenly creation
Her home is so beautiful and elegant, yet still has a very warm, and cozy feel to it. Love the slight bohemian feel as well. I also really love the dark atmosphere of her flat. It's a world of difference from the typical interior design layouts that I've seen.
I LOVE this whole look. It's electic...chaotic organized artistic decor. There is nothing about it that is predictable or boring and each piece seems to have been purchased very carefully and deliberately with love and care with it's own history...it's own reason for being. More imporantly it offers serenity. The fireplace...the shawls draped over the comfy sofa....the plants. The few windows streaming blocks of light like big diamonds. This is the place where you want to go and sit at the end of the day and enjoy a courvoisier in a giant snifter. Yes...I do love it.
I like it. It's different and bold. I love the busy plants and the Chinese wallpaper.

@@k_a_y_l_e_e I LOVE Alidad's dining room walls. All floral leather 'tiles' with metallic gold as the main colour which gleams in candlelight and when the wall sconces are on. There's a video on it, if you haven't seen it. Something tells me you might like his dining room almost as much as I do. :)

In anyone else's hands, this space would be cold, dark, and intimidating. That was certainly my first impression upon looking at all the dark crevices in the home. But there's so much more to it once you settle in and that's owing to the love and care she's put into it, along with the personality to make it truly hers. Brava.
She loves vintage items and it is artfully displayed with that "alabaster effect" lighting.
Since I watched this video 2 years ago I keep seeing this apartment in my dreams. I feel like I've been there so many times.

She uses a lot of different warm lights where she doesn't have a big light on but smaller ones. There's a lot of matter of material with her and patterns. But bringing back plants and wooden pieces and rustic things bring her home more bohemian feel. She's not afraid to use color and more darker things in her home and it really adds to the sphere and feeling.
The lighting is so beautiful, I love the feeling of her place.

I'm surprised she didn't mention that she had most of the architectural interest elements (including the antique hardwood floors and paneling!) brought in from other locations. (There is quite a bit of info and extra pics of her and her apartment to be found on other interior design websites, and there's so much more gorgeous stuff in it than shown here!)

Hey, where's the rest of it? I wanted to explore every nook & cranny of her flat. It is absolutely scrumptious and has a lush quality to it. I love clean spaces and by clean I mean empty/barren but I could never get tired of her home.

Beautiful home, and the kind of place you would feel comfortable sharing a glass of wine or a meal, lots of interesting things to stimulate. Also, many of the AD vids coo about how much light they have, light needs dark for balance, this home has lots of lovely shaded areas.
