For some reason the USB stick isn't be recognized by my '23 Y. Formatted for Fat32 on a 4GB stick. Let's me replace horn but door lock option doesn't even appear. Just updated to 2023.44.40.5.1.
have you tried using a 2.0 USB flash drive? I've noticed it wouldn't work on a 3.0 Flash drive and works with my 2.0. It was a good thing I didn't purge my old drives!
Doesnt seem to work for me. I plug in the USB into my car and after I select the USB, it just plays a random sound from the list of sounds that come with the car.
Hey Brother, THANK YOU for the video! I need HELP. I tried your directions on 3 different USB drives, but I keep getting the prompt "Save your favorite lock sound to a USB flash drive. I can't get it to work. :(
Does ANYONE know how to alternate between different USB lock chimes? I downloaded a custom lock chime onto my USB just to see if it worked, it does work. I now want to change to a different lock chime and for some reason it’s not working. I deleted the old custom lock chime from my USB drive then downloaded a new lock chime and it still plays the old custom lock chime. Please help. Thanks.
i think thats what he showed when he first got in the car the sound was already set as a USB so he changed it to another random sound before he put the new USB in
Is there a way to just keep the horn like normal? Let’s say I don’t want to lockdown. It seems that if the taco is off, you get no sound at all. And there’s no way to just have the horn the way it was. Unless I’m missing something?
@@garrick_ish I tried them out…. Then toggled it back to turn those sounds off. And now I have no sound at all! How do I get the horn back like normal?
WAV and MP3 are just containers. The file inside of them are usually different types though. Mp3's are generally for a more compressed codec AAC while WAV is a more general container. It can contain less compressed codecs like PCM, which is generally used by the entertainment industry. Just changing the extension doesn't change the format. But it's enough to get the car to accept it.
it works the same way with light shows, who have been like this for years at least i can use the same pendrive for 2 files now. a light show and a lock chime. LOL @@garrick_ish
@@garrick_ishquick question, I followed your instructions, got the same file from the same site, used a wav converter and used the correct file name. I get a message on the action the MY saying you can save a file to usb, name it LockChime.wav and it has to be under 1MB. The file I have is 199KB… I thought that was smaller… but it won’t work, that message comes up as soon as I hit usb in the dropdown. All I can do I x out of that message nothing more. Any ideas? Thanks for any assistance
Best video I've seen while searching for instructions on how to do this.
Thanks.
Subbed!
Thanks! Glad it worked for you lol
Yep! Me 2 😜
Rubber ducky all the way. It makes me giggle every time and never gets old.
Nice!!!
Awesome content!!! My lock sound is "We are the Borg, Resistance is Futile" 😂
That’s awesome!!!
Worked flawlessly. Thank you👊🏽
You're welcome!
Is there a way to make ANY sound(pull a sound from anything) and make it a WAV file for the Tesla lock chime?
There are some programs you can download that would convert video files to WAV. You would have to Google it. I hope that helps.
Hi. So I have the SSD 1TB and use it for the dashcam but trying to download the LockChime but doesn’t work.
Try using a Small USB flash drive.

@@garrick_ish I was using USB 3.1 so maybe thats why. I’ll give 2.0 a try.
Yep worked!! Thanks 🙏
Amazing, where did you get this exact sound from?
I got it from Zedge! Look up transformers
I have a previous file I put on my USB drive and even after I deleted and added a new sound, it plays my old one any clues
What unit are you using there? Where you can plug multiple usb?
what is all that other stuff connected to your usb? I want to learn!
My lock chime is “what are you doing step bro”
Hey Brother, THANK YOU for the video! I need HELP. I tried your directions on 3 different USB drives, but I keep getting the prompt "Save your favorite lock sound to a USB flash drive. I can't get it to work. :(
Hmmmm. Have you tried using a 3.0 and a 2.0 USB Flash drive? Have you tried you formatting your drive as well?
What about UNlock sound? Is it the same for you? Mine (Model 3 2021) works with just locking. But unlocking gives two honks instead
The change only happens on the lock sound
how to have multiple sounds? not just one? can't we have a more descriptive filename (instead of USB?)
Unfortunately we only have one for now. Hoping we can have more in the future!
How do you change sounds after changing the first time? I'm unable to upload a different sound.
Select a stock chime, insert your flash drive with a new chime and select USB again. That should do it. Let me know if that works for you.
Just tried that, still stuck on the first custom sound@@garrick_ish
Nice! I just finished the setup on my Y too. Thanks!
Nice!! Which lock chime did you use?
I chose the Kitt Scanner (Knight Rider) @@garrick_ish
Love it!!
TIL you can use a usb hub in a Tesla
That's cool, I thought you had to keep the flash drive in
Nope not at all! Pretty good update!

So you can only add one additional sound??
Correct. I would love to add more. Hopefully it would be a future update to add more
Is there a time limit for the sound you use?
Funny I’m working on the transformers sound myself now.
Nice!!!

You can leave it the way it is. Changing the lock chime is just a new update.
@@garrick_ish I tried them out…. Then toggled it back to turn those sounds off. And now I have no sound at all! How do I get the horn back like normal?
@@MikeRadioNYThere’s an option to turn lock sounds off completely, you just need to re-enable that.
Can you chop up part of a song?
Yes you can as long it’s under 1MB and in WAV format
What models and years get this update?
Not sure on the S & X. But all 3 & Y gets the updates but the 3D Park Assist is available for Non USS Teslas
Can you upload more than one tone at a time in the car?
From what I see, you can only use 1. Hopefully, in the future we can add more!
@@garrick_ish I'm having fun with this. Thanks for the video 👍
You are welcome!
What sound is this and where did you find it ?
Transformers and you can get it on Zedge.
I can’t not do it i got windows Can you put a video how to do it on windows please
Sorry, I don’t have windows. You would need to get a file converter for windows.
Are you sure that in a Mac you can just rename the file from mp3 to wav to convert it? I can't find this feature anywhere
Yes it works perfectly fine.

Oh I see, cool, thank you! 👍
My model 3 only allow one time change sucks
You can’t change again?
I used “Yameta Kudasai Ahhh” sound 😂😂😂😂
How long can the .wav file be, is there a max time length?
I believe it’s up to 1 MB
just need the update now
It comes out in phases. You should get it soon.
Just isnt working for me.
Have you tried using a 2.0 Flash Drive? I noticed that worked for me.
Gotta go with Ric Flair 'Whooooo!'
Ohhhhhhh I like that one!!!! That’s so awesome!!!
What Lock Chime are you using?
GLaDOS from Portal. She says: sentry mode activated
sling blade "aint got no gas in it"
@@scottszczepanski3049I need that one .
Great tutorial but Zedge requires a subscription after free trial. I use chirp now
I have yet to signup for Zedge, it hasn’t asked me to sign up. But I will look into Chirp! Thanks for the Rec!
Thank you
You are welcome! Let me know which Lock Chime you end up using?
Thank you!
