Fastpacking, 6 Wainwrights & a Wild Camp

- Having entered this years Grand Tour of Skiddaw, a 46 mile ultra trail run, I headed for The Northern Fells to put a solid days training in.
With my ultralight set up, I fastpacked 24 miles and ascended 6700ft, ticking off the Wainwrights of High Pike, Skiddaw Little Man, Skiddaw, Bakestall, Great Calva, and Knott.
I then headed back to High Pike where I met my dad @overthehillwildcamper for a wild camp. I pitched my Mountain Laurel Designs Duomid and enjoyed a relaxing camp in perfect conditions, before heading back to Caldbeck the following morning.

I’ve got covid so I’m working my way through all your videos 🤒 impressive effort this like! We camped up there on Knott, it’s so quiet up there, think we saw two people all the time we were there!
Yeah, the northern lakes are great because they are so quiet. Not quite as spectacular but great all the same.
Literally just had Covid. Came back from that last camp and tested +ve the very next day. Literally climbing the walls all last week. Drives me mad when I can’t get out on my bike or run for a full week.
Good excuse to binge on TH-cam though. 📺

That’s some going Steve, bet ya legs were hurting after that, last time a put on a jog coming down Skiddaw it killed my knees 🤣, great lightweight setup👌, always love seeing the orange Mld⛺️, should of ditched a few bits of kit on ya dad, for when yooze met up 🤣 lighten the load a bit more, spot on mate, atb Mick 👍

Nice to see you making the effort and "pairing" your meal with the finest cherry vintage.
I've found I prefer Expedition Foods to many of the other dehydrated brands - maybe worth checking out their orange packets.

That's some going mate up & around the skiddaw range..those uldale fells over the back are lovely & quiet & very similar to the howgills nice grassy flat topped hills great for camping..7kg ain't bad for a summer set up..I'm waiting on my new atom+ 35 arriving as I'm doing the cumbria way with Paul in June & that's what I'm aiming for around 7kg..Great stuff mate..Andy..
Thanks Andy. Yeah, 7kg including food and water wasn’t too bad. Certainly didn’t feel heavy. Once I was coming down off Bakestall it was a real grind. I might have to go back with fresh legs to enjoy the area more.

Great video again Stephen. Scenery is fantastic up there. It’s obvious that the Adventure Foods dehydrated meals developer didn’t do level 1 in Professional cookery at Gateshead College. Peas in pasta? Liz will be putting peas in her flapjack next! Top work and good luck with the preparation for the challenge.
