    Why couldn't they have found a way to have Matilda boxing a zombie??

    • @arthas640
      @arthas640 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always find it a bit ironic that the Nostalgia Critic's whole shtick is that he remins you of forgotten movies from your childhood but he almost exclusively covers relatively modern movies (including ones still regularly airing on TV like Shrek) or super famous movies no one has forgotten like Austin Powers. I miss when he reviewed movies that are either almost completelyy forgotten or everyone thinks was some fever dream from their childhood like this.

    • @cjwrench07
      @cjwrench07 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arthas640 it’s about the guaranteed income & views when you have employees. Especially now that TH-cam’s algorithm, and by extension the sponsors, punish reviews about older or niche movies.
      For example: Deat Meat rarely reviews classic horror anymore, because they don’t get pushed by the algorithm and end up getting way, way, less views. The first week views for *the first colour Dracula movie* & Blackula were less than 1/4th the views compared to the mediocre “Escape Room.”

    • @KurenaiNanashi
      @KurenaiNanashi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arthas640 TBF his thing is about movies one is nostalgic for (ie older movies). Shrek came out about 2 decades ago so it’d count. Some of the newer stuff has to do with sequels off of stuff that came out from decades ago (Jurassic Park franchise) or Marvel which base base on older stuff
      Also even then he does do reviews of older stuff still. He did the one about the mouse mother seeking medicine to heal her sick child. Also did the Brave Little Toaster not that long ago either (I think)

    The actor/stuntman in the kangaroo suit, Gary Morgan, played another boxing kangaroo in the 1994 direct-to-video movie "Storybook", as Pouch. The big difference is that Pouch is an anthropomorphic talking kangaroo, so it greatly decreases the uncanny valley compared to Matilda.

    0:11- Not only that, but for the past month and a half, I rewatched your 1982 in Film episode, as well as rewatching your previous 2 trailer episodes. I love those videos, because they also gave me great recommendations to films I haven't seen before, like Dressed to Kill, The Final Countdown, Excalibur, Blow Out, Swamp Thing, Porky's, and more.
    3:47- No wonder he was replaced in this scene by Ian McDiarmid in the 2004 DVD release.
    5:20- Or it's in the same universe as The Devil and Max Devlin, the 1981 Elliott Gould movie where Bill Cosby played The Devil.
    10:50- Speaking of space, this is reminding me of The Mandalorian's modified N-1 starfighter, which has a little glass dome for Grogu to sit inside.
    11:27- I wish this WAS Mr. Mom. At least you'll be talking about THAT film next year in your 1983 in Film episode.
    11:47- This IS in the same universe as The Devil and Max Devlin.
    13:24- Ha, I was also thinking that.
    15:27- Did the gangsters shout "YOU ARE TEARING ME APART, MATILDA!"?
    19:26- You should probably review Rickey 1 when Creed III comes out.
    21:04- I was also thinking us Gus when you announced on Twitter that you'd be reviewing a movie about a boxing kangaroo.

It’s not an example of bad/lazy filmmaking, on the contrary it’s just the shoddy telecine was full frame, rather than (as it should have been) matted. The DVD is correctly matted (as it would have been when projected theatrically). Hope that helps.

      Kangaroo Jack?

      @@jeremyusreevu237 I had that one specifically in mind. (Come to think of it, IS there another kangaroo movie?) Just to be clear, I haven’t actually seen either film, I’m just going off of general reputation.

      @@Kylopod There was a live-action kid's TV series "Skippy the Bush Kangaroo" 1968-1970. Have no idea of its overall quality, but saw a short clip that had Skippy returning a soldier's salute.

      "Tank Girl" also had mutated Rasta style Kangaroos one of which was played by Ice-T. Can't handle the movie myself but hear some people like it.

    Very weird typecasting fact - the guy in the Matilda suit, stuntman Gary Morgan, would play another boxing kangaroo in an extremely mediocre 1994 direct-to-video fantasy movie named Storybook.

    There's both Left Behind, the Nicholas Cage one and also Killjoy. So it's either a killer clown or Nicholas Cage who is crazy like a drunken clown. Both are on Freevee, take your pick!

    So, the whole thing turned into a half-assed parody of The Godfather with them planning to chop of the roo's tail instead of the horse's head?
    The Zucker Brothers they ain't.

    I gotta ask, have you, Brad. Or anybody else out there ever seen a lighting fixture, that blatenly featured in the shot??
    Or were you kidding and it's supposed to be there?
    Maybe it has to do with aspect ratio?
    Did everyone take Acid before?
    This fascinates me, there's got to be an explanation!
    Please let me know. Thanks.
