    2:55 Aris is absolutely right. I have a Driving Force GT, literally one of the most entry level wheels and pedals combo, and I learned how to modulate the brake pedal on corner entry-exit with that. If you say you can't cause you have a "bad" wheel, it's cause you don't want to learn how to. Of course something like a CSL Elite with LC is gonna be more precise, but you can learn to do it with any type of equipment, it's just a matter of trial, error and perseverance, cause you can't do that in one session.

      Well said, don't be afraid to experiment and try new things and don't let the hardware limitations stop you from doing so.

      Absoluty true! I "only" have a Thrustmaster TX with the simple 2 way pedals and there is still a lot of room to improve with this equipment eventho im not slow at all already. 2:17,8 at Spa, 1:54,4 at Nürburgring... just as examples I wouldnt consider these slow. And everything run on agressive setup with only minor tweaks. Guess if I was an alien there would be easily a second in both times with that equipment!

    I'd consider myself a good driver with some knowledge about racing already but your videos always give me details I didn't understood or knew about before. Thats why you are the go to person on youtube if it's about technical things in ACC. You have a lot of knowledge and you know how to teach it to others! Great content keep it up :)

    Would be great if ACC let you setup just a single corner to practice and repeat point rather than just hotlap or practicing a whole circuit. While it is a SIM doing whole laps to fine tune a corner takes lots of a time and a restart point would be so useful for this sort of technique. Great vid

      I understand the commodity but it is a gameplay mode we prefer not including. Lapping the whole circuit trains your brain better and closer to real conditions. It's part of the difficulty.

      @@ArisDrives i humbly ask you to reconsider this stance. it will
      only be for training purposes anyway. it's like f1 banning simulators because they want to make it difficult. the difficulty comes from the competition, not inconvenience. all things aside, thank you for what you're doing.

    Aris thank you for pointing this out. i am racing in Raceroom but the same rules apply. It's for me counter intuative to release the break when i am overshooting the apex but it works. Lot's of practice for me to perfect this. Also your tip of searching the grip with the steering wheel worked for me immediately, steering input degrees vs grip! Keep this pointers coming. Keep it up Aris. Best regards Henk

    I think your video's are Great Aris, explained in a way that makes sense, I play ACC on Series x with a g920 . The problem I have with learning trail braking is using my left foot, I'm so conditioned to using my right foot! 😁

    • @camangoo
      @camangoo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You'll get use to it. I was the same and now it's so natural. I was lucky I had the experience as when I went home and drove my dad's car, I couldn't move the seat and because my knees where around my ears I was forced to left foot break!

    • @ArisDrives
      @ArisDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As Gaming Eclips said, it's all practice.
      But I can also tell you that you can stick to right foot braking and still get perfect trailbraking results. If it works good for you, use the right foot and practice.

    What helps me is the tyre squeal (and this is independent of whatever gear you are using. Just turn up the tire volume). When it starts screaming, I know I cannot apply any more steering angle as I'm already losing grip. If I still run wide even after slowly releasing the brakes, that means I'm going into the corner too fast.

    • @ArisDrives
      @ArisDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tyre squeal is a nice feedback and helps initially. But I will point out that it would be better to try to find other ways too. That is because in reality depending on the tyre construction and asphalt materials the sounds of the tyres might be completely different. In simulators as well the tyre squeal might change from sim to sim and even tyre to tyre in the same sim.
      So the less you are dependent on it, the better. Use it but also learn to drive without it.

  • @7ornado18
    @7ornado18 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Aris, there's something I can't understand and I wanna ask you extra explanation. A quick example: at minute 2.17 you're inside the turn, still braking (just a bit released), at 84kmh. At 2.45, despite start braking at the same point (as you've said), you already start releasing brakes. At 3.50 you're inside the turn, ready to give gas, 0% braking and 96kmh. How's it possible that braking less, starting at the same point, inside the turn you're only 12kmh faster? I expected a greater difference in speed.

    • @ArisDrives
      @ArisDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Well that is a quite common misconception in everything it has to do with cars and speed. Starts from examples of how people expect a Ferrari (or any other high end car) can make turns 100kmh faster than a Panda (spoiler: it cannot) and ends of course in motorsport.
      Generally drivers expect the differences to be massive. In reality the differences are extremely small.
      Example: I lapped Imola at around 1'52secs with the Ginetta. This would be 157.7km/h average speed. To make a 2 second faster laptime at Imola (1'50secs) that would mean an average speed of 160.6kmh. Just 3kmh more average speed through out the whole circuit! I'd only need to be faster by 0.150 of a second on each turn.
      So as you can understand the speed difference in the apex of each turn would have to be a couple of km/h at most. 12km/h more is a massive amount of time and exaggerated for the sake of the demonstration, but in reality, pushing hard, it would never happen.
      So as you can see, it's a perspective of scale. People are used to see big numbers but to gain laptime you really need tiny differences, but you need those tiny differences everywhere in all the turns of the whole circuit. That is why it's so difficult to gain laptime. You don't see it happening because the gains are so small.

    Used trailbraking a lot in AC, but most gt3 cars in ACC feel like they dont really want it, or you have to setup for it.

    • @ArisDrives
      @ArisDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      As explained many times, ACC simulates the SRO GT3 cars and pirelli tyres better. The cars and tyres have a narrower window of operation and so require smaller more precise inputs from the driver.
      AC was simulating a generic tyre and with the know how we had back then. The range is wider and you can get away with more.
      As I have demonstrated in this video and others, you can and must trailbrake in ACC, it just takes more skill and precision.

    Aris can i use this technic at a wet Track?

    • @ArisDrives
      @ArisDrives  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, absolutely. But for a wet track you'll also need more rearwards brake bias. There's less grip and tyres suffer even more in combined grip (longitudinal and lateral requests)
