@@CharlesCleyn I absolutely would love to take a course led by you!!! Please do keep us updated! I honestly think you are an excellent teacher - and that's just from watching your tutorials here on youtube! It really struck me - you are clear and methodical and really demonstrate things properly in a really calming and reassuring way, in a quiet sort of way (the opposite to Blanks!) which is actually more conducive to learning really especially if you're watching for long periods of time. You truly do TEACH - an aspect that, as you said, was rather lacking in the Monthly courses. I have learned quite a bit from your videos already! I have actually taken 4 over the course of 2021! All those three you took plus one by Louis Bell in December. I agree with pretty much everything you said here. It's false marketing when they say it's suitable for absolute beginners - it's definitely not. I think out of all four though (to be fair, Bell marketed his as for intermediate upwards) Blanks does actually give a bit more of the foundations than the others. I did manage to learn a lot from the courses - but in the fly on the wall way and learning through actually doing it way mostly like you mentioned. I think it is a little bit cheeky that you don't get feedback from someone who truly knows what they're doing. Ok the teachers can't get through hundreds of students... but they could maybe employ a few people who were more advanced and could give some feedback. The peer feedback can still be good though - but very mixed! It's the luck of the draw if you get someone properly constructive and encouraging in yours who will help you and give you properly detailed feedback. I have come across two such people (one of which has become a great friend and I've collaborated with) but it does come down to luck with that. I found Charlie the most fun to watch as well - he really does seem like such a genuinely nice guy. But he was a tiny bit intimidating at some points with his vast knowledge, keyboard skills and perfect pitch! (And i've even studied music at uni and play piano haha). I found Ryan Tedder to be extremely rambly and not very keen and eager for us to learn at all - he was the least "teaching" type of teacher (in my opinion) and that was very clear to me from the start. But anyway this is a massive comment - hope it's not too rambly - but I figure i'd share my two cents on it all having done so many courses! Overall I am so glad that I discovered Monthly last year - It has enabled me to get back into music production again after such a long break from it after I left uni - but it's certainly got its pitfalls and can be improved, and isn't for everyone. I think a huge part of Monthly's upsides though is the deadlines and accountability and sharing your work - it just makes you get on with it and not procrastinate and almost forces you to stay focused. I really do hope you do your own course. Honestly, Monthly should hire you! You make beautiful songs (I've been listening to them a lot since I discovered you on here recently!) and you can teach - you have both talents!
Took the Ryan Tedder course and loved it! Awesome and very insightful dude, I definetly learned a lot! Can't believe he showed his vocal chain too! Charles, love the channel btw, thank you for all the lessons!
I am just finishing the Andrew Huang course. I really enjoyed it! In my opinion, Andrew is a good teacher, and he's definitely very skilled at mixing and mastering. Although I'm an experienced musician, I had virtually no production experience prior to the course, so it was overwhelming at times..so much to learn. Also, he teaches in Ableton. I watched hours of your videos during the course to learn how to implement Andrew's techniques in Logic Pro X. So, thank you for being a great teacher...you were a lifesaver! Question: did the 3 courses you took use Logic Pro?
It’s tough to know what courses to recommend. I provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring and my clients are all at different levels, so I can’t provide a one-size-fits-all course. Some folks need help with using the technology while others need help with music theory. It’s gotta be tough to define a standard course.
Charles love your videos. I'd love to see you do a video on writing a song from start to finish just to get a flavour on how you approach your projects. Appreciate this would be a long video and a lot of work for you but I'd watch it for sure.
Hey charles, is there any qualifications inorder to learn music production other then having the knowledge of chord names? + Do you recommend to go and learn in musical academy/studios or just online at home? "I wanna produce and learn everything I can in every detail."
Thank you very much for the review ❤️ Is there any other courses for beginners like me who don't know to play any instruments and would like to create using DAW?
And tell us about making songs without instrument... And how to get melodies of a complete new and original song... Bro help i waana be a English singer
@@CharlesCleyn yeah sure straight ahead I am following u for a long time now and i feel u have a strong taste of music So there is no no.. It's only yes yes for u!!
I would definitely be interested in taking a course from you too! I enrolled in a Udemy ‘learn production on logic’ one, but the singer they used in it kind of put me off, there was a lot of stuff I didn’t need, and the lesson quality seemed somewhat lacking (halfway through I was questioning how much they actually knew).
🙋🏼♂hi everyone, here are my 6 pillars on learning Logic Pro faster (FREE): www.charlescleyn.com/learn-logic
I took the Tedder course. What was amazing to see is that he uses a very similar vocal chain that I do; including the. CLA F2F Dry and the reverb
I got the CLA plugin from taking this course too and I've been enjoying it.
Have you guys taking any of the course? What do you think? Are you thinking of taking one? Why haven't you yet? Let me know :)
Yup I m thinking about taking a course but i didn't find out the one that i m looking for..
I'm thinking about making a course of my own that is more teaching based, would you be interested?
@@CharlesCleyn I’d definitely be interested
That's great to hear, I'll be letting you know when i release one. Hopefully very soon.

I know right, I actually got the chris lord alge compressor plugin because of his course. And his songs rocked too!
Learning music is like learning a language, spent a few years focusing on it, you’ll master it regardless of paid or free courses
That's a good point but I think it's more like, spent a lifetime on it, then you'll become a master.

A little off subject, but are you in your home studio? Those sound proofing panels are great, I’d love to know where you got them!
Yes, that's my home studio. These specific ones are from Primacoustics. You can check them out online. I recommend them!
Hey Charles thanks for doing this. Been wondering about what’s in these courses. Appreciate the review.

Thanks 👍
