    The bonnet (hood) when lifted gives wonderful exposure to the engine which is a good thing as the owner will discover frequent need to work on it.

      I spent many a weekend sitting on my tire and synchronizing the twin SUs.

      My dad bought one about 6 or 7 years ago and actually he spent more time UNDER the car than inside of it, but every kilometer is worth the ten hours of work it needed
      In france we call this phenomenon the British cars glamour

    I owned a 1965 that I bought for $ 350 while stationed in AZ. Had it rebuilt, headers, and a repaint. Fun ride.

    I had a '68. It was the most fun to drive and my 18 year old kidneys could handle the ride; beautiful handling car. I had a few friends with MG Midgets (same engine) who would have the heads milled to pick up a bit of horsepower, but I liked mine just as it was. Made it from NJ to Key West and back up to Gainesville which was its final resting place.

    Very accurate description & KOOL old sports car. My 1967 1800cc dual carb 4 speed MGB use to eat these things for lunch but I learned the Triumph TR-3 was a different story.

    I was born and am living in Banja Luka (a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and I've seen one 7 or 8 years ago here in my hometown. It was red and parked in front of my elementary school's main entrance. They are RARE here, it's the only Triumph car I've seen so far.

    • @MartinSage
      @MartinSage 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      neb7851 I'm 6-2 and it was fine driving it. Cooling system was not designed for warm Italy. Needed an electric fan to keep it cool.

      neb7851 Why don't you go sit in one??? I am thin 180lbs. I loved the engine access. Put Perellis(sp) on her and she.. stuck like glue.

      Because I don't have the chance too, unless I'm going to buy one most sellers are 4+hours away why would I travel that far just to find out I can't fit ? hence me asking people who all ready own triumphs

    I bought a 64 spitfire for $600 and put a thousand $ in it and got four 185 60 13 tires, a gallon of green lacquer paint, 2 fiberglass seats, and all the brakes and suspension parts!! These cars are easy to work on as prices for parts are good. They made some 330,000 spits. And 75,000 356 Porches and 100,000 MGA

    I got a 67 from a buddy while working for McDonnell Douglas in 75. Paid him 75 dollars for it. Had a foot square hole behind the drivers door and 2nd gear was out. Otherwise it was great. Sold it 2 years later for 1300 in the same shape. Only wish I had her back. LOL may get another some day.

    a nicely tuned MK3 runs really well. I'm looking for the distributor numbers to swap out my 79's unit. I have the flat top pistons, 25/65 cam, and SUs coming later. Finding the MK3 dist is this weeks task..

    • @nialljamesbuckley
      @nialljamesbuckley 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      agreed. ever get this done? i am toying with buying a 79 myself

    • @dadcolo
      @dadcolo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just returned from a 1,983 mile trip, after breaking in the engine. Still using the 79's dizzy, 1.50 ZS carb & manifolds. I did replace the Cat with pipe but kept the exhaust system down stream. I wanted to see how it ran with this combination. I am pleased with the performance, no headers, no extra carbs. The only improvement I'm working on now is the water pump, I need more cooling with the upgrads, so a 5 vane impeller is being installed to the old pump and I'll see how 30% more circulation cools. A 160 T was fitted and tested last month, functions, just needs more circulation (I think)

    I had a Triumph Spitfire MkIII in 1972. It was great fun to drive. It was the same shade of green as this one and was a soft top. Made one huge mistake. When filling the radiator with water I put the water in the engine. Oops!!
