This is the first time I understand what you mean by values and connections and why it is so important. Thank you very much.
Glad to hear that!
Mathew, thank you ever so much for your instructional videos. Your insight into what beginners (and not so 'beginners') need is amazing, your presentations are simple, clear and perfect. Your subscriber list is well deserved and I hope it keeps growing. Thank you once again.
It’s so hard to connect those middle values. Thanks for another great video. Love this painting by the way!
Wow. Thank you. Clarity. Concise points. Clear instruction. This was the most helpful tutorial on understanding lights, midtones and darks and how to find them, and work through them in watercolor. I really appreciated it. Thanks!
I've always gone from light to dark without any tutorials before,so I was kind of doing it right but you really answered the fact that I do actually squint at it time to time the same as when I'm drawing and I never really knew why?But you've answered that for me! Thank you for the uploads I find them really interesting and they are great pieces of art.
So glad you liked it!
Your art is truly a labor of love.
Thanks! This feels so foundational. This isn't explained often. Thank you for sharing.
Outstanding tutorial! Clear, concise, and valuable information.
Really appreciate. Your lectures are very useful for us.Thanks a lot.

This is your best video for anyone learning watercolor. Bravo!
Thank you this was very helpful I am studying in Gouache but this feels very helpful even though I'm using a different medium ....thankyou !

Hello Mathew, I'm delighted about your watercolor painting
since many month .
I know you admire the paintings by Joseph Zbukvic.
But: you are my Zbukvic! 😅
And I hope, the American Watercolor Society will
acknowiedge your wonderful paintings.
Thank you very much!
One thing I would add is that watercolor dries lighter than you might anticipate as a beginner.
thank you
You're welcome
Nice
Goodmorning Matthew and thank you for your lessons very helpful for me. About the values I understand that you can get the lightest values by using very diluite colors, then using less water on the next step (middle values) and even more less water in the last step (dark values). Is that so? Thank you.
Beautiful painting. You make it so easy, I know it is not. You are the master at work.
Could you please go over brushes that you use and if you the brand as well
Will do soon
excellent as always. A quick question: am I correct in assuming that after your first wet on wet wash dries, you're using wet on dry (for the mid values and darks).
That’s correct
Do you have to completely dry between each of the value sets?
Are ur mind tones and dark tones done on dry paper?
Hi Matthew. Hope your well and life is spoiling you. Mathew would you be kind enough to identify you workhorse palette - by that I mean what colours would you never leave home without in your palette. Also would you say you are a tonalist or a colourist by choice and practice. Best wishes & Happy painting 🙏
Do you let all three washes dry
Matthew are all the spots filled for your international trip?
I have two spots left! uptrek.com/retreat/plein-air-watercolor-landscape-retreat-matthew-white-france
Is there no fuller tutorial for this painting?
First 😊
I love watercolor painting videos. At first I have so many doubts because it just looks like the world when I'm not wearing my glasses and then 10 minutes later! BOOM! My nipples are hard. I love it.
don't forget talent, you also need talent to paint. LOL
I know someone that looks like you
I mean you look exactly like someone that I know and I need to show him to😁
And he uses glasses too🤓
And you similarly sound like him too
Great, but those “middles” look pretty dark to me.
the music is waay too loud
