    The reason that the other side isn't drilled out, is to allow you to adjust the legs for uneven ground.

    I actually just ordered this same stove tonight for myself, going to modify it slightly, adding a rope gasket to the door for better air seal may weld in a baffle to increase efficiency for secondary burn may also add a layer of thin refractory brick to prolong the life of the belly of the stove and then fabricate a new grate and then weld on tabs to the bottom of the legs with a hole drilled in incase I want to fasten down to a floor with a couple screws so it's secure in it's position, I'll definitely be getting a different chimney cap as well but all told it seems like a well built unit and with proper care should last for many many years to come.

      Thanks! Yes, there is much room for modification. It's a good stove for the money. If you really need it - I think it's going to be very valuable in a situation where getting heat and cooking is critical. The price was right!

      I have this same stove going on four seasons now, don't mess with it- works perfectly fine the way it is. easy to start up and burns great the vent holes in the door draw in air right to the bottom of the grate- it burns hot!

    The stove pipe is tall in order to reach above the roof peak on a wall tent for better drawing power, and no back draft.

    Hi, I have one and use it often for my garage. This ia an awesome stove, BUT the 5 inch chimney pipe that is inserted into the stove melted. My flu is now about 3 inch from the flat service.
    I have been trying to figure out the best way to install elbows as well without it melting.

    • @TheRealWorld737
      @TheRealWorld737  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Holy cow! It melted? Must have got REAALYY HOT. I'd recommend putting a temp gauge on it and running it a little less hot.

      @@TheRealWorld737 Ya when I bought mine. I would just throw wood in and really monitor it. The pipe got beet red.. Now im looking where I can purchase another pipe. Live in Canada not many places have a 5 inch pipe that deliver.

      @@chrisox ecco supply or other sheet metal wholesalers... get 26ga minimum... adjustable elbows can be tricky and sharp to spin occasionally. The inexperienced should wear gloves. throw some gasket on the door and damper down your burns, or risk the problems that arise

    Do you know what the stove pipe is? Galvanized? I’ve heard galvanized can be toxic?...

    • @TheRealWorld737
      @TheRealWorld737  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it's galvanized. Some galvanized pipes need to be heated several times before being used in a confined space. As with any wood stove - I'd only use one approved for indoor use unless you really know what you are doing and have adequate ventilation for safety.

    • @stillwater62
      @stillwater62 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wood stoves use a blue steel pipe, and oil furnaces use a galvanized flue pipe, some of the high end tent stoves use stainless steel flue pipe.

    How many hours of burn time can you get before filling? Like in a 10x10 Kodiak I’m thinking to put this stove in just want to know if I have to tend to it every couple hours when sleeping

    • @TheRealWorld737
      @TheRealWorld737  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t have an exact answer for you on that with this guy and I’m sorry. But my experience with this size and similar build is that you’re still gonna be up every few hours. But the huge variable is what kind of wood you’re burning and how dry that is. I mean that’s gonna make the most difference. Obviously as dry as you can get and a hardwood is gonna get you more sleep and a consistent burn over the night.

  • @jbcurdog72
    @jbcurdog72 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Not comical at all, it's that tall so it will be above the ridge of your tent! It's actually quite the opposite and makes perfect sense! And it doesn't need any tape or clamps, and also the cap will cause sparks to come down on your tent... this stove is Made for a TENT.

    • @TheRealWorld737
      @TheRealWorld737  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks James.. I get it. Was just funny during the video - since I didn't have anything (like a tent) for it to put it into perspective. More IS better all the way - thank you.

    Have you had any issues keeping the fire going in the stove?

    • @TheRealWorld737
      @TheRealWorld737  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. BUT - it's definitely more sensitive - being a smaller stove. I find that you have to tend to it more than a larger stove. Because there's not as much room for wood - you burn through it faster than a larger stove. So, that's the trade-off vs. getting a bigger one.

    • @TheRealWorld737
      @TheRealWorld737  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is in storage at the moment. I do not recall having a seal come with the door. Glue would melt. These stoves are designed to not be used in an enclosed area (other than maybe a well-ventilated tent). So with a hot fire going inside - all the smoke is going up through the flue - so you don't really need a seal. This isn't an indoor wood stove - and isn't safe for inside your garage or home. Also, if you look at their product page for the item at Camp Chef - you will notice a few things: 1. There is no seal on the door. 2. There is a place where you can ask a question about the product and get an answer from the company. Here is the link: www.campchef.com/alpine-heavy-duty-cylinder-system-%7C-camp-chef/CC-CS14.html
