It certainly does, considering how Judge treated him. In his father's eyes, Sanji was a failure and his existence was a shame. So hearing that about a woman he really cares about? He would be more than pissed off.

My favorite is maybe on Zou when Luffy can't remember who Marco is and everyone is throwing hints at him but Robin going "Pineapple guy" is the one thing that does it for him. 😅
@@sleepyninjarin7971 I think she sees him as the most deplorable man (and well written villain) in all of One Piece... I also believe that's why her avatar takes so much inspiration from his design, lol
Robin shedding a happy tear in the new arc hit me like a truck. Seeing her grow from hiding her emotions in order to protect herself to someone comfortable crying tears of joy in front of both her family and strangers was such an incredible feeling.
Better yet is that of all the strawhats, she was seemingly the only one with no one to go back to and tell all these adventures to. At least Jimbei can go back to Neptune and Aladine and speak of his time with the strawhats. Robin seemingly had no one left from her past to do so until now with the talk between Shaka and the crew. Her tears during that chapter felt far more real than those shed for Kanjuro's Ryuunosuke drawing.
"MUST PROTECC WITH MY LIFE!!" was my immediate reaction, while usually my reactions with Robin are more on the note of "Step on me, demon mommy" or "Cuerpo Fleur: Threesome?"
Same, but what utterly destroys me from Enies Lobby is her biting the goddam concrete so that Spanda can't drag her farther away. The level of raw emotion in that panel cuts so fucking deep!!
@@blooperofahuman1706 And if you want to go a bit deeper than just her desperation, she was also doing it to buy time because she knew the crew was coming. So yes, it's desperate to the very core, but at the same time, hopeful in the rawest way. There's also fear, trust, love and hatred in it, it's haunting and it's beautiful
One of my favorites Skypia scenes is when the crew is trying to steal all the treasure they found in the snake, and they see Tobin with the natives. The natives were trying to give them that giant pillar of gold out of thanks, and instead of explaining things she just runs off to join the crew. Like that pillar is probably worth 10x as much as the couple bags they stole, but Robin understands now just how much them running off with the treasure means to the crew.
@@willingoYT I hate when that happens! Someone mentions some great moment, I get the urge to re-watch/re-read it, and I end up watching/reading the whole damn thing again! And I don't stop until I catch up again, so I've re-watched it and re-read it a gazillion and half times
Something really subtle about Robin that I really like is that pre-water 7, she only called the crew by their roles or nicknames, like Swordsman, navigator, Long-nose, etc. However after water 7, she calls them by their actual names. As if at first she felt like she was working for a crew, and later found out she was part of a Family.
Yes I completely agree. When she first joins there is a celebration where we see robin off in the corner reading. To me I interpreted that as a product of feeling burdensome. She didn’t let herself connect with the crew because she believed they only valued her to the extent of what she could do for them. After all that’s what it’s been like her entire life. It took water-7 for her to understand she’s not around because she’s useful, she’s around because they want her company.
Her interaction with aokiji at the end of water seven and her refusal to learn about the lost kingdom from Rayleigh, were some of the most satisfying moments you forgot to mention. Her saying she found a place finally in her life, where she is happy, safe and can make her dream come true is just pure joy to hear.
@@neerajcherukuri4052 Actually, his takes are not that good... He fails to see some pretty obvious things and reads too much on others, and when someone points something out he is pretty pedantic about it. He has some great takes, but nothing new, tbh. The part I do value about his One Piece readthrough is that he has to eat up all the slander he previously spewed xD If you want takes that break the mold, though, I'd recommend Merphy
Robin probably is my favourite Straw hat, her backstory with all of her little interactions with the rest of the crew are just always great. Plus she's chopperpilled.
Chopperpilled xD that's perfect. But i agree I'm so protective of Robin and Brooke. Brookes a sad sad boi but you can't tell because he doesn't have eyes
I feel like the reason Sanji was really upset about what Lucci said about Robin is because he understands that feeling of not being worth it. The feeling that your very existence has been treated as a crime and that those around you want you gone. It's also similar to Ace who heard people say he shouldn't have been born and so on.
People like to clown Sanji's reasoning to Chopper for still following Robin to the train during Water 7, that "even when a woman lies you still trust her" but considering how the women in his upbringing were the only good ones in his life and had to lie to save him from despair, it adds up.
@@islandboy9381 yeah women where all he had when he was still in the Germa, soldiers doesn't count. After he got away the other chefs on that cruise ship where nice sure but they mocked his dream. The only good person other then women was Zeff and that explains why Sanji holds so strongly to the principles Zeff taught him.
@@nevembra9850 yep and he'd rather die then be someone Zeff would hate hence why he'll never hurt a woman. The found family theme of One Piece really hits hard and is one of the best themes of the story.
@@tuckemon I love that Odas way of portraying family isn't with blood connection but bonds and actions for someone you care about regardless of genetics and it's very heartwarming ❤️
@@nevembra9850 yep that's what I love about it too. How many of the straw hats had people who loved them that weren't related at all? The best people you often meet in life are the ones that you find as you go through life that you develop a special kinship with. Oda really put that sentiment upfront and really lays into it.
i don’t know how… but you are always connecting the strawhats to the long ring long arc and it’s actually amazing. it makes me hate the arc less each time it’s brought up 💀
Justice for long ring long island and I count the Aokiji scene with it too it wouldn't have that much impact without prior establishing how the crew as a whole and Robin with them has grown
The arc in the manga is actually pretty good. It's not top OP by any means, but it's funny, the character dynamics are amazing, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. The 2nd round they added in the anime, and the 2 extra filler arcs with Foxy completely destroyed it. What's even worse, they came from G-8, which is probably the best filler in the history of anime, so it's not that they lacked the ability to do something good, they just didn't want to!
@@brynndolynn Sorry to tag you just to say "read what I just said" but "read what I just said" xDD It explains why people hate it, and by tagging you there's more chances of you getting an alert xD
10:00 Luffy grew up with Ace, who was in constant doubt about his worthiness to live. He saw a person ready to let it be done and said "not in my watch", maybe because he understands how deeply people hurt for stuff that's not even on their power.
This was such a good analysis on her. She's my second favourite strawhat, just behind Sanji. Her story and her arc just felt so powerful. It moved me back then and it moved even now. The mention of Sanji asking for Robins help is perfect because it gets shit on so much and i hate it. I was so happy when I first read it, Robin finally getting a chance, being asked to, protect her found family. She's the best woman in O.P for me and her story still makes me cry to this day. Thanks for bringing justice to the West-Blue cowgirl !
I love the scene so much because in that moment Robin and Sanji are pretty much exactly what the other one needs in relation to their past and trauma from that. Robin used to be in the situation a lot that people were pushed to turn her in and every single time they did, but here finally someone is trusting her to handle it and calling FOR her rather than telling ON her. And then on the other side Sanji as a kid used to actually ask and cry for help but whenever he called, noone ever came, but now finally he has someone that does and I love it for both of them.
A bit unrelated, but the English Dub performance for Robin's "I Want To Live" moment is down right the most beautiful performance I've heard in an English dub
For what I heard, it was done in just one take, so all the more praise to her. The problem with the English dub is almost everything else, though, specially the bad edition (silences added or cut out, destroying the delivery, even on characters like Law, where Matt Mercer does an incredible job)
@@AnyMEmdqI honestly can’t agree with that. The arc was beautifully done and I cried through that entire Robin scene. I tried watching it sub but it wasn’t the same for me personality
Robin is so nice and caring, like all her scenes with Chopper and when she cried when the crayon dragon Ryunosuke died. The "I want to Live!" Scene is probably #1 hardest I cried in the series next to Merry Go death and Chopper's mushroom scene. Even seeing it in this video made me tear up.
Or she is brutal and cold-blooded, like when Franky was on Chopper's body in Punk Hazard, and she ends up telling to not breathe anymore, because he was being his usual perverted self in Chopper's cute body
I roped my friend in to One Piece recently and I've been re-watching it along with her and man it's so nice seeing Robin's evolution as a character and how she slowly comes out of her shell. The amount of dumb stuff she does in Wano is amazing, like early on you would never imagine her pulling stupid faces and stuff but now she's so happy and free that she's not embarrassed to be a comedy legend. One day I hope we'll see her perform that Docking move with Franky and co so we can see the full power of the Straw Hats.
What a wonderful video encapsulating my love for Robin. The scene on Zou where she was told that people escp now will hunt for her greatly and her saying "Well I have my crew to protect me" was just. 100%. I cried. As I did with this video. Great job again Mel!
robin is a character i have such a special place in my heart for. i started one piece at a really low time in my life and when i by the time i made it to water 7 i related so much to her. the tears i let out the day i watched that pivotal scene where she declared she wants to live feel very much like the tears i have now watching this video. it’s made me realize just how far i’ve come since i first saw it. beautifully done.
Maybe I missed it but I'm suprised you didn't mention the moments where her thoughts are shown and they tend to be very simple and childish, for a character that was forced to mature from a young age it's nice to see that side of her come out after water 7
i feel like the cute childish moments are her catching up on the childhood she missed out on now that she doesn't have to keep her guard up all the time. it makes me really emotional to see that 😭
Robin will always have a special place in my heart, I adore her and the way her dark humour and deadpan delivery makes me laugh will never be measurable. I love her so much.
Robin's whole arc always makes me cry even more than usual bc i relate to her in a way Having had thoughts and almost attempts at wanting to die, being different than what people call normal, thinking that if we were gone, it'd be better for the people around us, etc But at the end of the day having friends to call on our bs, that we do actually want to live, there are people that have their lives made better bc of us and we can live our lives our own ways even if the world says it's wrong
It's insane how every single time I'm reminded of her backstory and the big moment, the emotions are instantly brought up and I cry like the first time I experienced it. There are many emotional moments in One Piece that made me cry but I think Robin's character has truly left a mark on me
Robin is such a beautiful character. Video made me cry going back through her history. The little :3 she gives in the recent chapter made my heart melt seeing her so happy. Thank you melon woman for all these videos
Melon's videos are making waves, I'm starting to see some famous youtubers picking up your train of thought, sometimes word by word to refer to some of your character analysis, keep up the good work. Speaking of Robin in Alabasta I was having a conversation about her actions in this arc with a friend, and really, her entire set of actions was to get something to keep Crocodile busy (since she never ever had the will to help him in his main plan), to get to the poneglyph and dip without getting killed by him, she knew the utopia plan was close to the end so she 'killed' Igaram to instill the strawhat crew, the force Vivi could gather to fight Baroque Works, with a sense of urgency, later she handles them an eternal pose for the very same reason, for them to hurry the fuck up, maybe in the hopes that Koza's army knew the truth befopre it was too late, and targetted Crocodile instead for her to take a chance into the chaos, then she saves Luffy, not only because she took some hints about the D. clan (something that ties him and Saul) but also to give him his second chance since she was out of options, nothing truly worked, at least not the way she hoped for and she had to take her boss herself, and failed, but never sullied her pride as an archeologist by giving Crocodile a weapon of mass destruction, she would prefer to die ...,Robin was, before even joining, the rawest undercover ally Vivi's faction had in this arc, god I love this woman.
Other YTers being influenced by MelonTeee's analysis vids can only be a good thing. Very few of them dive as deep as she does especially into the characters' emotional backgrounds.
The way Robin and Franky interact throughout W7, including EL, is still one of my favorite pieces of the arcs. The culmination of how their arcs coincide with an intertwining theme, how beyond it they continue to be this guiding fun duo with everyone, and maybe just a little of they look at each other (24:06), solidified them as my favorite of the crew.
One of Robin’s scenes that unreasonably melted my heart was when just after Kokoro’s rescued them all, Nami and Chopper just hug her and burst into tears, and she, rather than just breaking down herself, makes sure to comfort them and hug them back. It really says a lot- even though Robin has every right to just break down into a mess herself, her first priority is caring for her friends and supporting them.
When they were climbing the giant elephant right before wano and they rode that drawn creature, I just loved Robin's reaction throughout, her just being speechless because she thinks it's so cute, she even makes a little grave for it when it passes away after they've gotten up.
i have to say it, Robin's VA in the water 7 arc did a phenomenal job. When Robin screamed with all her bare soul that she wanted to live, you can hear the pain, sadness, but also hope and relief in the actress's performance. Truly incredible and that voice line alone, to this day, every time i hear it, i cry. It is my favourite moment in one piece along with many other ofc, but this is truly a masterpiece.
This has me thinking more deeply of the juxtaposition between Robin and Sanji. It makes sense why Sanji would be upset at someone saying his friend would be better dead. That was what he was made to feel like so he would not tolerate that, man just knowing how much their characters build into each other.
Without question, Robin is one of my favorite members of the crew. The way she hits this crazy middle ground between mature and elegant... and just... a giant fricken' weirdo. Its so hard to pinpoint a single trait or moment with Robin, because she feels so constant and weirdly....innocent. Shes just 'Robin' And shes fricken adorable.
Robin has always been my favorite strawhat, I can't watch the "I want to live" scene without shedding a tear, it's like the intro of UP i can't pass that without crying, I CAN'T!! BTW I love your character analysis, they are really on point.
What really made me love Robin as a character was her interactions with Chopper. It's adorable. Water 7 and Enis Lobby is what cemented her as my favorite character. One thing I enjoy about Robin is how she can swap between being one of the smartest characters in the show to no thoughts head empty in her daydreams. Also also, give Robin back her cowboy hat.
Seeing Robins backstory laid out like this again goes to show how weirdly effective Oda is in writing the saddest flashbacks ever. The ones that hit me the most were Robin, Brook... and Senor Pink lol. As a sidenote, i am really not the kinda guy that participates in shipping fictional characters, especially in One Piece. But Robin and Franky give some vibes i just cant overlook...
and then fish dad joined the crew... although, tbh, Robin has great dynamics with all of the older trio of Straw Hats (Brook, Jinbe, and Franky) where it kinda feels like they're here to make sure the kids don't get into too much trouble while oftentimes taking the support role to let them shine
I've always loved Robin. Seeing her growth as a person throughout the series alongside the revelations of the world through her discoveries has been an absolute joy. Being able to see her tear up with joy during the recent chapters had me almost crying and cheering at the same time. Thank you so much for doing her justice, and even more for talking about one piece in general for the amazing story and character writing I've come to love. It's really gratifying seeing someone talk about something else besides the fights or the world for a change
I’m so glad I didn’t skip skypiea and the Davy back fights because during these arcs, I got to see robin experience the straw hats. It made the reason of why she did what she did at water 7 all the more impactful
Robin is the one friend we all wish we had. Not even with benefits, just being an understanding and caring friend. And an archaeologist so that's pretty cool.
even listening to this after years still runs those waterworks of just how good this whole character arc of hers was and something I noticed only years later, something I didn't pay attention to before, was the line "I didn't think I could wish for that.." and god, flipping, Damn it, I Love how much Oda twisted the knife here in that blackened heart of suicidality, just to drive that point further home, just one of those things you can't even conceptualize when you internalize so deeply all those negative thoughts about yourself, how much Robin was beaten into thinking her life was a genuine curse on everyone and that wanting to live might even be considered "selfish" by that logic... Now, she can just simply do that, without having to internally struggle against everything anymore, without having to put up a strong front and build a fortress around herself, just to keep herself going to see another day or year. I love this way of a writer really going for the jugular when it comes to these depressing and heavier themes, that's something I've developed a great deal of respect for and Idk if One Piece is the one that did it best, I'm sure other shows did it in more subtle ways that I've underappreciated, but it did make me much more aware of this.. Not everything needs to be like this of course, but wherever this fits best I hope to see more of it, because it's beautiful, it demonstrates this Aggressive will to continue on living and this shit is just very inspiring, it's why Luffy's become my favorite character over the years right next to Robin.
Okay, I voted for Robin to be the next video in the survey, because my own suicidal tendencies makes Robin’s “I want to live” scene hit home in ways I can’t use words to describe, so I have no regrets for that. That being said, I NEED Melon to do a Luffy video, so I can finally have a comprehensive way to explain why Luffy is the best! I don’t have the intelligence nor articulative ability to put why Luffy is amazing into words, but Melon has done in 3 second intervals in other one piece videos summarized more of Luffy’s strong points as a character than I’ve been able to put into words over loving this show for well over a decade now. Love this video, am doing a binge of all Melon’s one piece content right now. Thank you for making such great content!
Robin isn’t even my favorite character, but her story gets me every time. Especially the speech from Saul when he dies. No one being made to be alone is a message people need to hear, and it fogs my eyes every time I hear it. Perserverance brought her to a family that would do anything for her, one strong enough to fight with and for her. It’s a warm message about sticking around long enough to really see, because you’ll never know for sure that it’s hopeless.
Yay!!! Another one piece video!!! Always love your videos hope you get more sponsors and subscribers, I see the effort you put in your videos and absolutely wish you all the success in the future!
I think she's my favorite Straw Hat. Each time I see her makes me so happy, maybe cause I relate to her odd personality. Her backstory and her physical beauty with her mostly non-chalant attitude towards the Straw Hats antics speaks to me in ways I'm not sure I can really explain
Loved the Nico Robin video. I actually voted for Usopp on the poll. Can't wait to see your insights about the "normal guy" on the crew. The liar which lies are becoming all truth as the history progress. I want also to see your thoughts about his conection to ELBAF which reads FABLE backwards. Coming to think of it, maybe it isn't the time to talk about Usopp yet. His personal story might have a huge evolution on the isle of giants which the manga is just reaching atm.
25:25 I think in that moment, Robin needed to protect Sanji as much as Sanji needed to be protected, in the sense that like you said Robin had always been protected by other people and needed to be needed, whereas Sanji had never been protected before and had to fight for himself
Robin has been and will continue to be my favorite character till the day One Piece ends. Her backstory is masterfully crafted with a climax in Water Seven that will never fail to make me cry every time it comes up in the anime, in videos or in my TikTok feed, it's a fucking trauma response at this point in the best possible way. An every endearing and growing character that is the glue and mom friend that holds the crew together. Her interactions with every member of the crew are always a treat and the little moments where she's fawning over either Jimbei or Franky, the moments where she lets her child like tendencies come out like commenting on how Chopper is always so cute or her gushing over Kanjiro's drawings are all so fucking good. I almost hesitate to use this phrase given Oda's writing but I would say, in my opinion, Robin is the most perfect character in One Piece.
I love how Robin sometimes acts like Luffy's little sister, even though she's older than him, like when she calls people by the nicknames Luffy chooses for them
They say when someone experiences trauma, a sort of poison builds within their heart. They turn that poison inward and learn to hate themselves. Or they turn that poison outward and learn to hate the world instead. Sanji and Robin are great examples of these outcomes.
Yesterday I discovered your channel and I pinged watched all of your one piece videos and I really like every single things about them , and your voice is amazing .. I feel so happy getting a new video so soon 😭
Absolutely love Robin. She's my favorite Straw Hat. Water 7 is my favorite arc. And seeing her embrace her inner child (who's still weird but that's great because some of us are just weird girls for life) is a real joy. I love that she's not a fighter but she won't back down. I think being with the RA and then reuniting with the crew reinforced that she isn't alone. I'm really looking forward to the Luffy video because I think there's a lot of depth to his character that could easily be overlooked.
The "I want to live" scene is the only point in the series where I have actively cried, it's so well set up and amazingly delivered in the anime, definitely a standout from one piece as a whole and easily one of my favorite moments in media
Robin is tied with Franky for my favorite character. Ever since I discovered your channel a few months ago, I've been patiently waiting for the Robin video 💗
Nico Robin is and always will be my favorite character in all of pop culture. Her dark humor along with her more cutesy side, not to mention just the absolute love that is put within her creation makes me strive to want to create a story that made me feel as much as One Piece has. If I ever feel sad, down, or need a pick-me-up, I just end up rewatching water 7, since it gives me that hope that as long as you continue on, it will always get better.
I absolutely adore your perspective on One Piece! It’s a refreshing kind of analysis that doesn’t lose itself to discussing power scaling and fights. I’d love to see to hear your thoughts on a character like Brook or Chopper!
I love Robin every single arc she opens up and grows her arc in wano was so special to me I was so rooting for her and seeing her totally demolish and most likely kill for her crew was so right. I think she’s lovely and also just herself she isn’t just a straw hat she’s Nico Robin, someone who will stand up for her friends even if that means murdering someone a line other straw hats won’t cross but for her she is which also ties her back to starting out as a villain and yeah wano Robin is just amazing
i gotta say. i love your character analysis. It shows sub text level character development which is easily missed, making it super interesting to listen to :) Keep up the awesome writing!
Also Robin’s English voice actor in the “i want to live!” scene is absolute perfectly voice acted. That scene gets me no matter how many times it replays
Holy shit, this was such a well done, superb tribute to Robin, excellent job! Really loved how you built up to “I want to live”, made it it hit super hard for me again. Also, your take on skypiea rang so true. God it’s so essential for her, carrying into water 7. Robin really is the best character in one piece imo, this was such a cool video for her.
Robin is such an amazing character. I love her dark humor and the way she plays off the other Straw Hats by being a mother or sister figure to most of them. I think you covered her pretty well here!
I just finished binging your other one piece analysis videos. the way you word things makes my brain itch in a good way and I actually understand what you’re saying.
Fantastic video!!! Robin is one of my favorite characters along with Brook and I find his story very interesting and I'll love to watch a video of him and the years he spent alone
Robin reminds me a lot of Ace. I really can't help but feel like Luffy could see his brother in her so of COURSE he wouldn't react the way she would expect of him. The Strawhats were her Whitebeards
Robin's journey is one my favourite things in One Piece. In a world where your very existence goes against the established order, will you ever be allowed to have hope? Edit: I honestly was worried that Robin was going to be pushed to the side in favour of the monster trio or non-strawhats like Law in the post-timeskip arcs but that was luckily changed during Zou and I'm excited to see Robin's development once I finish the Onigashima War.
you raise some good points, about why Luffy might be able to recognize Robin as a good person, but it made me realize something even bigger: her wanting to die and feeling like she has no reason to live probably reminded him of how Ace was when they were kids
Omg thank you for this video, it was wonderful! Robin has been my favorite since I was a kid and seeing her get the same video as Sanji and Zorro is 👌💖💖💖
Don't forget Robin also saved Luffy after his defeat by crocodile. She even explained who Luffy was to Pell and said he ought to save him instead of fighting her.
Might I also add her connection to Chopper is strengthened by their shared acceptance of what they once feared they were (robin being a devil and chopper being a monster). With Chopper stating by fishman island that he used to want to look human, but now wants to be the monster that can best help Luffy. It’s nice :)
This the one Straw Hat member I can finally let Melon's "Fantasies" not bother me as much. The allure of Robin being a very tragic character that you can clearly see how that pain developed into a coping mechanism. She also just has such a charm to her dark side too. I may be a man that loves dark minded women. It don't help that I can relate to her from even her childhood to adulthood. It's insane how real she feels and how she shows her endearing side with her twisted and warped mind.

I wish Robin knew Brooke sooner, because there is 1 Brook quote I will never forget: Death is never an apology
Robin shedding a happy tear in the new arc hit me like a truck. Seeing her grow from hiding her emotions in order to protect herself to someone comfortable crying tears of joy in front of both her family and strangers was such an incredible feeling.
Right??? That happysad cry with her mouth all quivering and vulnerable felt so earned with all she's been through

@@darkhorseman90 DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK ILL OF RYUNOSUKE!!
I love Robin so much! Her screaming "i want to live! Take me to sea with you!" Makes me cry every time
Beautiful moment
Same, but what utterly destroys me from Enies Lobby is her biting the goddam concrete so that Spanda can't drag her farther away. The level of raw emotion in that panel cuts so fucking deep!!
literally teared up everytime I revisited that scene.
@AnyMEmdq RIGHT!! Holy shit the amount of desperation and will it takes to BITE FUCKING CONCRETE to escape a situation is insane!!!!!
That is definitely my favorite Skypia scene and one of my favorite moments in the whole series. It’s a perfect encapsulation of One Piece as a whole
Very end of episode 194
Posting in case anyone else wanted to re-watch it. I didn't find a clip of it, so I went to the episode.
@@willingoYT I hate when that happens! Someone mentions some great moment, I get the urge to re-watch/re-read it, and I end up watching/reading the whole damn thing again! And I don't stop until I catch up again, so I've re-watched it and re-read it a gazillion and half times
when I saw that pillar I thought it would sink their ship anyways so that run was worth it
Something really subtle about Robin that I really like is that pre-water 7, she only called the crew by their roles or nicknames, like Swordsman, navigator, Long-nose, etc. However after water 7, she calls them by their actual names. As if at first she felt like she was working for a crew, and later found out she was part of a Family.
I noticed she did that in wano with Jimbei.
I appreciate that long nose is a job 😂
This isn't a robin thing, but Vivi never actually calls Zoro by his him and always as Mr. Bushido.
Why do I get teary-eyed when I listen to these character studies...
same. this is some of the best one piece content around rn
Check out Aleczandxr's One Piece analysis. He too does an extremely good job at analysing the characters and themes and his fav character is Usopp.
Because Oda wrote this story so that it would emotionally scar us. This way we continue to cry even decades later, and he can feed on our tears
Good writing 😊
i love how she likes cowboy hats because saul wore one. everything about her is so pure and good
LITERALLY
Huh, don’t know how I didn’t notice that
Robin probably is my favourite Straw hat, her backstory with all of her little interactions with the rest of the crew are just always great.
Plus she's chopperpilled.
That's the best way I've heard her being choppers adoptive big sister described
Based and chopperpilled
@@derpfluidvariant0916 more like a mother than a big sister I think but definitely cares for the little guy immensely.
Chopperpilled xD that's perfect. But i agree I'm so protective of Robin and Brooke. Brookes a sad sad boi but you can't tell because he doesn't have eyes
@@seangordon3852 *sobbing*
Skull joke!
I freaking love the long ring arc, I wasn't aware people didn't like it hahaha
its just a fun little arc before the extreme roller coaster that water 7 and enies lobby takes us through
The arc in the manga is actually pretty good.
Oh no a Sanji fan. I condemn thee
She´s just reading every Mugiwara as an open book and i´m here for it.
A bit unrelated, but the English Dub performance for Robin's "I Want To Live" moment is down right the most beautiful performance I've heard in an English dub
The VA's really brought their A Game to that arc
For what I heard, it was done in just one take, so all the more praise to her. The problem with the English dub is almost everything else, though, specially the bad edition (silences added or cut out, destroying the delivery, even on characters like Law, where Matt Mercer does an incredible job)
it made me cry like a bi""ch.
Honestly the dub is genuinely really good. I watched impel down in the dub recently and Luffy’s voice actress really earned her paycheck in that arc.
Justice for crayon dragon ✊
Sorry, but no. That's humiliating as a human
No woman will want that in mini-skirt😂
She'll meet him halfway and just sprout a big arm out from his arm instead of getting grabbed like Usopp
Seeing Robin smile brings tears to my eyes.
Robin made me fall in love for one piece.
A few simple words:
"I want to live!"
That's all it took.
Well, that and an insane amount of backstory, current story, and character work leading up to it.
Robin's whole arc always makes me cry even more than usual bc i relate to her in a way
Having had thoughts and almost attempts at wanting to die, being different than what people call normal, thinking that if we were gone, it'd be better for the people around us, etc
But at the end of the day having friends to call on our bs, that we do actually want to live, there are people that have their lives made better bc of us and we can live our lives our own ways even if the world says it's wrong
Yes, it was hard writing this bc the video made me cry a lot
Curse you youtube lady
Robin is like the closest thing to a perfect woman in anime/manga
Oda cooked big time with her
It's insane how every single time I'm reminded of her backstory and the big moment, the emotions are instantly brought up and I cry like the first time I experienced it.
Robin's flashback is so intense and heartful that even imply TINY PORTION of it makes me cry AN entire waterfall...
Shes just 'Robin'
And shes fricken adorable.
YESSSSS I love Robin SO MUCH
She genuinely helped me find a reason to keep going, amazing character
Robin is my favorite character in fiction🖤🖤 Lovely essay, really adoring my first experience with your content.
I swear to god I would do anything to protect Robin's *smile.*
even listening to this after years still runs those waterworks of just how good this whole character arc of hers was and something I noticed only years later, something I didn't pay attention to before, was the line "I didn't think I could wish for that.." and god, flipping, Damn it, I Love how much Oda twisted the knife here in that blackened heart of suicidality, just to drive that point further home, just one of those things you can't even conceptualize when you internalize so deeply all those negative thoughts about yourself, how much Robin was beaten into thinking her life was a genuine curse on everyone and that wanting to live might even be considered "selfish" by that logic...
Thank you for making such great content!
it was so cute watching robin charm the crew when she asked to join, i love her so much
Robin isn’t even my favorite character, but her story gets me every time.
Really, i am so grateful for how your videos und thoughts on this series help me to appreciate one piece in new ways and see its depths!
Honestly between Water 7 and Dressrosa there's already plenty to discuss about Usopp
I almost hesitate to use this phrase given Oda's writing but I would say, in my opinion, Robin is the most perfect character in One Piece.
didnt care about robin at all and then skypiea hit and just randomly at some point in there she was just suddenly my favorite character
The fact that I noticed the Law mouse pad before the box in the sponsor unboxing section says a lot about me.
Ah yes the best way to start the day at 6am is with a MelonTeee video ☺️
I think the funniest thing about Robin is that she understands the inner machinations of Luffy’s mind.
I love the moment when they shoot the flag, it’s the crew saying that if the world is against Robin, then they’ll be against the world with her
Your videos have made the show even more enjoyable than it already was, thank you for all the effort you put into them
i gotta say. i love your character analysis. It shows sub text level character development which is easily missed, making it super interesting to listen to :)
Keep up the awesome writing!
"You probably don't recognize me but you're my mom" absolutely killed me
Also Robin’s English voice actor in the “i want to live!” scene is absolute perfectly voice acted. That scene gets me no matter how many times it replays
Watching this on Robin's birthday
Happy birthday best girl
You’re quickly becoming my favourite One Piece channel thank you so much for all the stuff you do!
I love your channel, your videos are what was missing in One Piece's community, thank you.
I’m so glad you’re now part of the One Piece community! Loving your humor and analysis so far!
I just finished binging your other one piece analysis videos. the way you word things makes my brain itch in a good way and I actually understand what you’re saying.
ive been so happy with how much shes been smiling lately.
Fantastic video!!! Robin is one of my favorite characters along with Brook and I find his story very interesting and I'll love to watch a video of him and the years he spent alone
12:27 "most probably her first ever bonfire"
nah, I'm pretty sure she experienced a much bigger one back in Ohara
damn
Damn, I would yell at you for that.. but I feel like Robin would also make a joke like that considering how dark it is.
My jaw dropped when i read this
Robin reminds me a lot of Ace. I really can't help but feel like Luffy could see his brother in her so of COURSE he wouldn't react the way she would expect of him. The Strawhats were her Whitebeards
Robin is such a good character
The bonfire scene was the first time we got a glimpse of Luffy being joyboy.
Robin's journey is one my favourite things in One Piece. In a world where your very existence goes against the established order, will you ever be allowed to have hope?
Edit: I honestly was worried that Robin was going to be pushed to the side in favour of the monster trio or non-strawhats like Law in the post-timeskip arcs but that was luckily changed during Zou and I'm excited to see Robin's development once I finish the Onigashima War.
you raise some good points, about why Luffy might be able to recognize Robin as a good person, but it made me realize something even bigger:
her wanting to die and feeling like she has no reason to live probably reminded him of how Ace was when they were kids
Every one of your one piece videos has brought a tear to my eye. Best one piece content on the platform hands down!
Your way to analyse and describe characters, and the significance of them truly baffles me. Cep it up
I think what drove me to Robin was my love for history (I originally wanted to be archaeologists) but also she remind me of my late father
