One of the funniest things in One Piece regarding Franky, for me, is the contrast of him joining the crew compared to Brook. Franky’s recruitment was an entire saga of him having to earn the Straw Hats’ trust, but also the Straw Hats needing to earn his trust as well. And then at the beginning of the very next arc, Luffy meets a walking talking skeleton, talks to him for less than a minute, and then goes, “Hey, wanna join my crew!?”
I always forget how smart franky is in comparison to most of the other male straw hats because of how stupid he can act sometimes but to me that’s Franky’s charm
You're totally right about Franky's development, he really doesn't need any more having accepted his past and now unapologetically being superrrrrrrr every day. He's strangely one of the most mature and empathetic members of the crew and while bombastic he has a great appreciation for the little things in life
I'd liken him to party dad. Sanji is more like the college-aged older brother, and Brook is more like the fun uncle. Jimbe is the only person who really contests the role, and honestly I don't think either of them alone would cut it. The straw hats need 2 father figure types.
@@derpfluidvariant0916 Honest? No cap? Jinbei is (perhaps) best understood as a diplomat. @@frankcastlefan It sounds like you agree. Jimbe is very much the Strict but loving dad to the strawhats. The voice of reason, the drawing of lines, as you said, the Diplomat.
Franky’s kind of in the middle of his dream right now though. The Thousand Sunny is supposed to be his “Ship of Dreams” and he won’t be satisfied until it makes its way around the world
To me, Tom throwing his speech about how you have to be proud of your creation is also about Tom telling Franky that whatever he becomes and even if he won't be there to tell him, Tom will be proud of him
I did hear Kazuki Yao was determined to be a character in one piece permanently so he took every role he could and it worked! Jango first, ofc Bon clay, and from what I heard in the rumors Oda liked Yao so much he had to be Franky. It's beautiful
I have loved Franky since i saw him in Water 7, his resiliant backstory, his empathy, his intelligence and even his manliness all came together to make my second favorite Straw Hat overall.
I absolutely adore Franks’s relationship with Robin. From the get go, Franky had Robin’s back and as he showed her compassion and respect, she began to show the same back. Like in Thriller Bark when they were hunting down those zombies, they were a well-rounded team covering for each other similar to how Zoro and Sanji cooperate (sometimes). It’s just something I really enjoy
People chronically dismiss their connection as close friends even within the bounds of the crew. Regardless of if you’re a shipper are not (and a lot of Franky fans are, myself included) those two are deeply connected and hang out together a lot in lots of little moments out of the spotlight.
Anyone who doesn't see how well their relationship (be it platonic or not) works, isn't paying attention. They shared quite the story in Water 7, they are both marked by similar past trauma, were both wronged by the world government as children and they are the most mature crew members. Franky is a goofy guy, sure, but he fits the big brother role perfectly with his compassion, passion and knack for lightening up the mood. Maybe even a fatherly one considering how good he's with children and the youngest straw hat members. And both are in their thirties. It's no wonder that Oda initially thought of them as the groups parents and he does seem to enjoy giving both cute little moments together, even depicting them as very close in various cover art.
@@CasshioI mean i can definitely see the Chemistry when it comes to those two, it isn't a stretch to a romantic connection. They are honestly the only One Piece characters i Ship Also I'd say that yea Franky is the best with kids, Probably cause he was one of those
Franky is literally my favorite fictional character of all time. It's almost as if Oda made a character designed specifically off my tastes. I love his design (both pre and post timeskip) I love his moves, I love his personality, I love is catch phrase and the way he talks. I love how goofy and charming he is. He is literally the perfect man. He may not get a lot of development but that's because he's already perfect and I wouldn't want him any other way.
100% agreed.😂 It still baffles me how handling these two situations can feel weird but understandable and refreshing at the same time. Oda being GODa.🤷
Franky is an important character for the crew because he is an older, more settled character. Given that every character up to Chopper is a teenager on joining (read: up sized baby), it's important balancing to have such a character. We see it too in post Enies Lobby Robbin, in Brook and Jinbei. People who know who they are and what they want, stable identities that help anchor the wilder burning passions of the younger members.
"I can't help liking stupid men" is the best explanation as to why I'm in love with almost every male character in this series. SUPER thank you for helping me understand that I am, in fact, not crazy.
Franky is a pillar of support for the Straw Hats. He's like a weird big bro who loves to build things his found family needs. While also being quick to throw hands for anyone he comes to empathize with. He has a huge heart and wears it on his sleeve. He may be a cyborg with most of his body being machine but at his core he's very human because of his huge heart. Goddamn can Oda write some fantastic characters.
People often point to Robin’s “I want to live” as the best part of EL, but the part that will always stick in my mind is the conversation on the sea train. Something about how Robin heard that and then continues to see evidence of that statement over the next several episodes is what leads to her big moment, but I think the start of that process is often overlooked in its importance. I think it’s also incredibly salient in terms of theming for the rest of the series. Especially going into marineford given Ace’s entire life basically.
Franky's speech to Robin greatly inspires her Then he BURNS down the countermeasure to HER knowledge right in front of her. How can she not love this man.
it's funny that robin and ace actually share a few traits. Both were told their whole life that their very existence was a crime (robin for being a scholar of ohara and ace for being roger's son) both get captured by the world government and their crews invade a major gov't facility to rescue them. Both initially try to reject the rescue due to their self hatred causing them to want to die but ultimately find their self worth and become open to getting rescued. But then ace just has to fall for that obvious bait and fuck it up
When senor pink showed up I was like what the hell is hard boiled. 20 episodes later, well into their fight I was screaming oh my god they are so hard boiled!! Lol
Same! In hindsight it's so obvious but I never noticed until Melon pointed it out! Alas, that's what the readers who find joy in finding pandaman are for I guess. Another amazing feat by Oda.
What he said to Robin on the sea train is one of my favorite scenes in the series. Without that talk, it's likely Robin wouldn't have said "I want to live". She needed someone to tell her in no uncertain terms that her life is not forfeit.
I reread water 7 recently, and my God is Franky one of the most fleshed out strawhats. He's so sure of himself, strong out of the gate and his motives, which seem shady, is all in service of his people. he feels indebted to his people and had to suppress his dream coz of his guilt. On top of all of that he is the definition of a man. Doing what needs to be done, being confident and not shying away from crying when the moment calls for it. He will forever be my favourite strawhat
For me, Franky is a perfect man. I mean, look at him! He is funny, he is bright, he is so much talented, hardworking and creative! He is a massive man, but he is incrediously gentle despite all of his goofiness! And his strong neck... It does things with me...
Franky is one of the Straw Hats I wished got more important roles. The entire crew are all amazing characters but only half of them get very important roles.
Hear me out, when Tom is giving the speech to Franky there is another aspect to it. He tells Franky that no matter what his creations do or how they turn out that at least their creator should love them. This is exactly why Franky is an orphan though. His parents threw him overboard off the pirate ship and left him to die. This maybe the orphan in myself coming out, but I think it's what Franky needed to hear in more ways than just the ships he builds. Franky needed to learn to love himself and acknowledge that he's worthy of that. Tom may not have created Iceberg or Franky, but he certainly patched them up and shaped them into the young men they became. Tom in his own way, in my mind, was telling Franky that he loved him no matter what. That was also exactly the lesson Robin needed to learn and hear.
What I love the most of franky is how protective he is when it comes to his family and crew. A perfect example was how he got angry in thriller bark and called the straw hats there, his little brothers and sisters.
i think franky is kinda one those characters that has something for everyone, he’s probably the least hated strawhat(doesnt mean everyone loves him but he’s basically the least “controversial”, kinda in the same camp as brook)
Anytime someone compliments Franky and shows off just how fucking cool of a character he is despite how the fandom complains about him, I think my heart becomes three times as super… Because GODDAMN does Franky need more love and respect.
Franky is a himbo with an engineering degree, and I'm glad to see my son getting the love he deserved, especially after the timeskip did his design dirty (in my opinion, even though it's grown on me)
I absolutely LOVE that he honored the Going Merry by making the Mini Merry. He knew how important she was to the whole crew, so he let her live on in tiny form.
Franky’s emotionality being a core pillar of his masculinity, and that emotionality being so consistently expressed really makes Franky a great character! And I’m always 100% here for stories of self inflicted physical transformation being visual metaphors for radical self actualization. It’s a real real shame that he has had so few moments to really shine after the timeskip. He may be on the other side of his hardest moments, but that means he should have been given more time to help his allies and enemies get through their own. Become the SUPER man every person strives to be!
I love Franky, I love the parallels to Robin and Luffy, which is why they're usually on team Whatever Luffy Wants to Do Is Fine by Me. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the dynamic between Robin, Franky, and Jinbei because I love that scene of Robin, Franky, and Brook waiting for the samurai to climb up Zunesha but then falling asleep 😅. Franky is such a great example of masculinity too. He's never ashamed of crying. He feels things deeply and he doesn't shy away from those feelings. His fight with Señor Pink and his line at the end is one of my favorite moments in Dressrosa. Also, the pride he takes in helping the Tontattas.
I personally have for years thought that Franky may very well be the only character Oda ALWAYS loves to draw. He loves all of his characters for sure, but all writers and artists sometimes feel tired of drawing or writing the same characters. But in many ways, as you said, Franky's character arc is complete to the point Oda can just have fun with him. Franky doesn't need moments of introspection or faltering, he doesn't need to develop as a character in the same way as the others. So Oda seems to just indulge all of his silliest and funniest ideas whenever he draws Franky doing or saying anything. He's a walking cheesy 80's movie character throwing corny one liners and being cool and fun all the time. He seems like the expression of the childlike joy that seems to have driven Oda into creating One Piece in the first place. He gives Franky all sorts of moments from being a silly doofus to being an ultra cool Terminator-type Cyborg. He gets moments saving other, clowning on bad guys, he gets epic entrances and amazing moments and it all feels organic, natural to the character and never out-of-character, because all of that is exactly who Franky is. And has always been. Luffy has grown more serious over the course of the series, becoming in certain terms less naive. Nami has grown to love her new family more than the money she used to hoard for her old family. Robin has opened up and become less serious and more trusting. But Franky is the same character he always has been, because he's already "done" with his development. He's similar to Brook and Jimbei in this regard. And coincidentally, they're all older and more experienced than the rest of the crew, who seem to evolve as characters more. And surely, all of the main characters get their spotlights, but still, my favorite scenes in the entirety of the new world have been with these three: Jimbei, being unafraid of Big Mom, offering her the cup of Sake in order to maintain his honor until the end. Brook, standing in front of an Emperor of the Seas, calling her a "young lady" and asking what kind of a fool regards their own death as a part of the plan. Franky wiping the tears of his defeated opponent, and wishing that some day, over a drink, Pink could tell her about the woman named Russian. I feel like those moments manage to, in just a few panels, completely condense everything that those characters are all about into a simple sentence or gesture. They're done growing, and it shows in the most amazing of ways. Franky is a man of pride, conviction and strength, but he's also filled with compassion and appreciation towards others, their struggles, losses and dreams. Many seem to regard him as the father of the crew, and honestly, I can't blame them. He, more than any other character among the Strawhats, seems to portray the most important qualities of one.
This makes so much sense actually 👏 Franky doesn't need a character development anymore since he is already there. He is now a stable pillar for the straw hats ❤
Franky was one of my favorite straw hats from the get-go. He's so goofy, loveable, and earnest. He's not afraid to be unapologetically himself and his passion for building and his love for his machines never fails to make me smile. That's not even to mention his relationship with Robin makes them feel and act like the supportive parents to the hyperactive children that are the rest of the crew.
Franky is probably the closest man in the Strawhat crew to what I believe would be the best husband lol he's truly the rizz master and I love him so much. He is so charming but also such a breath of fresh air I love him
Franky’s my favorite Hat on a surface level because, I mean, look at him. But he’s also my favorite on a narrative level, because the story of an inventor whose creations went on to hurt someone is really tragic to me, enough so that Franky turned himself into his greatest weapon to ensure the only one with their finger on the trigger is him.
I really like how you highlighted Franky’s development and some of his iconic lines. It definitely refreshed my memory and my appreciation of his character. When I first read this part of the story, the translations must not have included the reference to the henshin/hentai pun and I was seriously confused why he was called a pervert. As a European, I didn’t get why people gave him shit for wearing speedos. Woman in One Piece, wear bikinies all the time, so let the man wear his speedos in peace.
One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video (And maybe the comments idk I didn't scroll down all that much) is that Luffy literally offered the Flare-Flare fruit to Franky in Dressrosa when he learnt about it. That is the devil fruit Ace, his brother, had, and we know it's of major significance to Luffy because he isn't going to just let anyone eat it. Let me repeat that; Luffy offered his dead brother's devil fruit to Franky. If that doesn't at least solidify the fact that Franky also acts as some sort of big brother to the straw hats and they see him that way too, then I don't know what would
on my years watchings and reading one piece its been noticeable how Franky often goes underappreciated, but those who perch Franky as their favorite character (along characters like Capone Bege) have been real life total himbos who make for excellent friends, the second you mentioned "franky knows what he's all about", it was the last puzzle piece was down and it made everything click, Franky fans ALSO know what theyre about and theyre not afraid or embarrassed about liking silly things such as a hawaiian speedo robot man
A lot of people sleep on franky, but I personally love him. His energy, I love his pre timeskip pompadour, even his design post timeskip, I thought looked very franky. I don't love the buzz cut that shows up in all his promotional material, but I like how his hair changes between each arch.
I just love how Franky is always the big brother, he’s the fun older bro with the younger straw hats but is more mature and relaxed with the older members.
Thank you for all the amazing One piece content you put out here. I have ADHD and sometimes it's difficult to keep up with all the characters, and trully be able to understand them. Frankie was one of those characters, who unfortunately didn't get much attention from me, since my brain paid more attention to Robin and Ussop in water 7 and Ennies lobby. Your videos, are calm, relaxing, and you are crystal clear in everything you're saying. Your videos are almost therapy, somehow watching you explain characters emotions and actions, and why they are the way they are, can give some instropective on yourself. Absolute peak One Piece content. Keep up the great work!
I love Franky so much. I had to spoil water 7 to make sure Franky was the new shipwright and not Paulie. I love your content MelonTeee, keep up the SUPER work!
*Franky is SUUPPEEEER! goated.* Not mentioned, but Franky is a great role model for healthy/positive masculinity, too. I love how she did a deep dive on Franky and didn't even talk have to about his best fight, the one with Senor Pink _(it was so hard-boiled!)._ That just goes to show how well written his (underappreciated) character already is.
I think that he and Shanks are Oda’s paragons of “non-toxic masculinity”- by which I mean, both are kind, soft at heart and not afraid to embrace their emotions, but while Shanks is sensible and peaceful Franky is pure chaos
Robin and Franky are intertwined and they both joined the crew at the same time. Even the way they joined, and with Franky being the first to tell Robin it’s not a sin to exist was something personal for her. Even if they never become cannon, there is so much there they earn the honorary “I ship them” from me. Though I believe even Oda hints a strong pairing with those two.
To this day they’re probably the one fictional couple I’ll genuinely fight to defend over all others, especially vs non Franky fans. Some people won’t even acknowledge their non-romantic closeness because she’s found some of his antics annoying in Punk Hazard (yet also let him sleep in her lap so…. Clearly not that annoyed,) (And the most conspiratorial fans have found theoretical references to them all over the place, even down to one of Robin’s timeskip moments including numbers, in Japanese alphabet numerology significance spelling out Frobin at one point.)
Watching this it makes me think Franky will be really important for the end game, especially the final island. reason being is we will likely either meet the person who created the great ancient weapons, or we'll meet someone related to that. I think only Franky would know how to help that person, and how to give love to the spirits within those weapons, well along with usopp.
Ow ! SUUUUUUUUUUUUPEEEEEER ⭐️video as alway full of flavorrrrrrr takes and honestly I too wouldn’t want Franky in any other way he’s one of my role model in life he’s so good written that a kid or teen could look up to him and come out as a great and caring guy
Franky was the character that got me interested in one piece, his design was so wild and striking that I just had to start learning more and thus getting sucked into the whole world and story
Franky is my 2nd favorite Straw Hat (between Luffy in 1st and Brook in 3rd) and most of my friends think I'm crazy for ranking him so high. Thank you for highlighting everything that makes Franky such a lovable chad. Keep on being... \✩\ \ \ O < SUPER!) \ /\ / \ \ \
A moment I don't hear much discussion on is when Iceberg tells Franky to forgive himself. It felt heartwarming, since before, Iceberg told Franky he'd never forgive him. And this was under all the goofiness of Franky's speedos getting stolen.
Absolutely LOVED this video! Franky is one of my top favorite SH and it’s so great to see someone deep dive into his character like this. SUUUUUPERRRR!!!
There is one thing I would like to add. When oda draw the good and bad future strawhats, he draw the bad Franky as a ship. So I always felt it important for Frankys character to, yes enjoy his creations. But he also should not let himself become a total machine. When I saw Franky after the time gap I thought it was a dangerous, to see Franky become more machine than human. I don't think this is truly to happen, but I do believe that oda plays this as a danger for Frankys character, he shouldn't lean into. 😊 Love your videos melontee ❤
Something I appreciate about Franky (my favorite character in this entire show) is that while he is a pervert it's all about himself. He doesn't thirst after women and doesn't disrespect them, but recognizes their beauty. He didn't take advantage of the twins when he first met them, but took them under his wing. He charmed Nami recently in Wano but only as a big brother. He's all about self love baby and that's just SUPER!!!
On fishman island when Franky explains to Luffy that his master's brother is fixing the ship and Luffy replies with a bunch of words that doesn't make sense and Franks says yeah something like that 😂😂😂😂😂He completely understood Luffy and knew there was no point explaining him and just gave him the thumbs up, as a older brother I have lost count of how many times I have done the exact same thing
I also adore how Tom's lesson about being proud of the ships he built was a thinly veiled analogy for Franky being abandoned by his pirate family. Tom is so adamant about this not only because of his shipwright ideals, but also because he loves franky and he wants franky to know that it isn't his fault he was abandoned and he deserves to have someone who is proud of him and loves him.
To this day I still think about how Tom's speech about boats not being built good or evil applied perfectly to Robin too... it's so good!! Also I can't believe the frog that swam crole style wrestling the train made me cry, total one piece moment.
This video was SUUUUPER!!! Franky is definitely my favorite character because he is unabashedly himself at every chance and he definitely has big brother energy
Hell yeah Franky video! I was so ready to hate this "franky" character's guts when reading for the first time, but his intro to Luffy where he's singing caught me off guard, his design was absolutely incredible, and the part where he spits Fire only to dive in water and prove he isn't a devil fruit user made me instantly love him.
In professional sports teams (especially the NBA) , there is always a player or two who may not directly contribute to the score total or may not get the most playtime. Its usually a player who has already been a part of something great and was brought in to bring that experience and support to the new team. THATS Franky to me after your video Mel. He's solid veteran who has already been through his big arc of growth and now uses that knowledge to better a new generation. He literally serves as the bedrock as the crew with his maturity (getting Usopp to see the truth of the Merry's situation) and his role as the shipwright. I would also argue that Franky taking on the role of ship maintenance gaves Usopp more room to explore and develop his role as a fighter.
Literally the most underrated Straw hat, alongside Jinbe. Franky is absolutely my favorite One Piece character and has ever since I saw him. So seeing this video is quite nice, makes a fella smile.
"He stays on the same wavelength for the majority of one piece" I feel like a lot of people demand that a character grow, but honestly flat characters can be just as good as round ones. Jack Horner from the new Puss in boots movie is a great example of a flat character
Another point at 22:47 he hasn’t built anything but himself, but also the main job of the Franky family was demolition. He charged himself and the people he has gathered with the mission to destroy the weapons of the sea. I think it’s atonement on his part to take weapons from “evil” people so that they can’t do evil deeds.
i honestly enjoy that the majority of the straw hats in present day are basically at the end of their mental journeys. they help other people just like their captain and dont need to worry too much about improving themselves anymore. i enjoy character struggles/growth as much as the next guy but it’s nice to see them all happy :) (*sanji suffering in the background)
Franky was on of my favorite characters from Water 7 on and he will never reach the heights of my fave faves or the lows of disappointment Sanji (a former face until his perversion just became too much) has put me through, but he doesn’t need to. He’s solid, he’s reliable, he’s strong when he needs to but shows great empathy and compassion, he is opinionated and firm in his values, but not to the point of being stubbornly rigid, and he is just generally a great guy who wants the best for his found family. #1 Team Dad in my opinion and to be perfectly honest he and Robin are the only two Straw Hats I ship because Oda basically made it canon anyway in an SBS and their chemistry (both positive and negative) is just gold. I like that Franky’s a static character, to be honest. The Straw Hats needs stability and Franky provides that in a way. One of my favorite parts of Thriller Bark was seeing the changes he brought to the crew in helping them work together and develop as a unit, bringing his past experience as head of the Franky Family to the table, and I am still upset we never really got to see that again because it was so good. Luffy may be the glue that holds the crew together, but Franky helped build that into something even better, focusing on not only improving himself and the ship, but also his crew mates. Anyway, Franky is such an underrated character and I’m happy to see him getting the respect he deserves.
Thank you Melon for all these OP vids, you are both giving me a fresh look on some of the things in the series (as I've last watched or read it a while ago) and also reigniting my passion for OP. Keep on rocking!
I pretty much cry every time Melon uploads because the content is just. Exactly what people need to hear but this time I was like; "Oh no they are talking about Water 7 looks like the next 24 hours are weeping softly"
Franky had a weird introduction for me since his first action is beating up Ussop but his conversation with luffy as he's chasing him back to the sunny in water 7 was so wholesome, reminded me of sanji talking about the all blue
I aspecially love his interactions with Luffy, tbh x"3 There are both such open Himbos but in the same Time, Franky knows when to be logical and helps Luffy recignice the situation from that angle a bit more. On the other hand when Luffy comes up with some cracy Ideas Franky is one of the first once to say "Yo, I was thinking the same Thing! Let's do it!" X"D
This might be underrated moment but I love how his character was handled in dressrosa arc it's small but he fights with big baby. And even though he finally defeats him he immediately knows his pain without questioning it or ask but somehow knew and ask him next time they meet their go drinking together and wait for him to open up about his love life. I wasn't expecting it but I love how sweet and empathetic he is there.
You make by far the best One Piece video essays on YT! I binged all of them throughout this week. Hope you will make something about my main Man Whitebeard someday
Franky became my favorite strawhat rather quickly. In terms of personality, i couldnt be further apart from him, but maybe thats the reason his charisma draws me to him so much. His fight with Senior Pink is also one of the best fights in all of One Piece. Franky doesnt get interesting fights often, but that one was an absolute master piece.
No idea how I was able to go from despising a character as much as cranky (thought he was weird, gross, and kinda mean) to literally loving the heck out of him. No other straw hat had this kind of crazy 180. He’s such a good character I love him so much now
I've always loved Franky. He's mature enough to appeal to adults, goofy and carefree enough to appeal to kids, and cool and powerful enough to appeal to teens. But I guess not everyone feels the same because he's the only SH to never crack the top ten in a character popularity poll lol. He definitely doesn't get enough love! Side note: I've been reading One Piece long enough that I remember when the crew first arrived at Water 7, how everyone thought Paulie was going to be the shipwright to join the crew because his rope techniques were interesting and could be expanded on as he got stronger, plus his shyness around women would contrast with Sanji's lust for them. And man am I glad they were wrong haha.
I am a florida man and I can confirm that we do wear everything except the speedo. Usually it’s open Hawaiian and shorts or open Hawaiian shirt and completely naked covered in a mysterious white powder.
"sometimes what a person needs isn't logical solutions but someone who can understand their emotional distress" is a very basic lesson I think more of us need to remember in real life... Great video! Always happy to see Frankie love.

Brooks next please I’m crying
One of the funniest things in One Piece regarding Franky, for me, is the contrast of him joining the crew compared to Brook. Franky’s recruitment was an entire saga of him having to earn the Straw Hats’ trust, but also the Straw Hats needing to earn his trust as well. And then at the beginning of the very next arc, Luffy meets a walking talking skeleton, talks to him for less than a minute, and then goes, “Hey, wanna join my crew!?”
He is a musician, he has an afro, and he's a skeleton. This alone makes his recruitment the most based in the series

franky is the strawhat's weird uncle that pulls up to the family function already drunk in a 700 horsepower Corvette from the 70s
Franky’s kind of in the middle of his dream right now though. The Thousand Sunny is supposed to be his “Ship of Dreams” and he won’t be satisfied until it makes its way around the world
To me, Tom throwing his speech about how you have to be proud of your creation is also about Tom telling Franky that whatever he becomes and even if he won't be there to tell him, Tom will be proud of him
:,)
That’s exactly what it is, that’s why he has to do everything with a DON!
That is so brilliant
Kazuki Yao is just amazing voicing Franky, Bon Clay and Jango. He brings so much charisma, life and fun.
He has been sounding a bit winded since the start of Wano, though he is over 60.
You should hear Patrick Seitz, his English voice actor. He absolutely fits Franky's vibe and has that mature and attractive tone
@@DrKnockOut1115we must protect him at all costs!
I did hear Kazuki Yao was determined to be a character in one piece permanently so he took every role he could and it worked! Jango first, ofc Bon clay, and from what I heard in the rumors Oda liked Yao so much he had to be Franky. It's beautiful
@@DrKnockOut1115 yeah, coz of old age. but still doin the job
I have loved Franky since i saw him in Water 7, his resiliant backstory, his empathy, his intelligence and even his manliness all came together to make my second favorite Straw Hat overall.
My second fave as well. Who's your fav? Mine is Zoro.

They are honestly the only One Piece characters i Ship
Also I'd say that yea Franky is the best with kids, Probably cause he was one of those
Also she grabbed his balls and started squeezing the life out of them to get him to join the crew, if that is not true love then I don't know what is.
Thank you Melon, for giving one of my favorite One Piece characters the spotlight I feel he sorely deserves
When has he never been in the spotlight
Franky my man, he was the man, he is be man, and he will be a legend❤❤❤
Franky da goat
W new video
Franky honestly needs more respect from the fanbase he’s such a solid member of the crew
How dare you steal my comment before I can even post it or watch this video
Not figuratively?!
@BAM not to mention the perfect musical theme
@Twaggy Theatricks his theme is my favorite out of all of them! Next is Robin and Sanji's. Franky's theme makes me wanna dance
Franky knows exactly what he is and who he is
What: -Pervert- Cyborg
Who: Franky
Franky's speech to Robin greatly inspires her
Then he BURNS down the countermeasure to HER knowledge right in front of her.
But then ace just has to fall for that obvious bait and fuck it up
Franky's fight with Senor Pink is one of my favorites in the whole show
yes, an amazing fight
It was so hard boiled
So manly, so hard boiled, so emotional and so short 🙏🏻
I will never understand whatever the fuck "hard boiled" is but it was definitely hard boiled 😭
When senor pink showed up I was like what the hell is hard boiled. 20 episodes later, well into their fight I was screaming oh my god they are so hard boiled!! Lol
I never realized the meaning of Frankie's tattoos, this was so mind blowing to me
Ah you don't read SBS or you don't have the manga?
Same! In hindsight it's so obvious but I never noticed until Melon pointed it out! Alas, that's what the readers who find joy in finding pandaman are for I guess. Another amazing feat by Oda.
Exactly. That makes franky so much more cooler. Waiting for Battle Franky 39
@@mohan7273I like to think Sanji is an honourary Battle Franky, definitely not canon but i find it fun
Florida man is the best way to describe Franky. He would be someone who would break into a house just to shave a cat’s head.
American; Can confirm: Cola is the meth of liquids. Well, the Cocaine ingredient...
I need someone to draw that
There is a meme in brazil that the cat got a bald head and it's like a weird translation "they enter my house and bald my cat"
He is the kind of man to go into someones house just to cook some borgers
Franky : * breaks into Enies Lobby a second time, just to shave Rob Lucci's head for the sake of pissing off Spandam*
I love Franky so much.
I feel like he gets overshadowed by other characters, but he is absolutely amazing.
The only flaw in Post-Time Skip Franky is that he doesn't have his iconic pompadour as much. Other than that he is amazing!
Thisss I feel like this is the biggest factor ngl, it's one of his most distinctive traits
One of the most badass lines I've seen from Franky is when Lola asked him to marry her, and he replied that he's too cool and it wouldn't work out.
I'm listening: Jinbei. Who hates Jinbei? I can see being a little reserved or skeptical, but still...
@@frankcastlefan i find jinbe to be more “neutral” than almost universally liked/loved
@@frankcastlefan no one but as the newest member ive seen a lot of people just not have many thoughts about him
As someone who just got back from spring break in florida, I can confirm that there are hundreds of franky clones walking around down there
Anytime someone compliments Franky and shows off just how fucking cool of a character he is despite how the fandom complains about him, I think my heart becomes three times as super…
Because GODDAMN does Franky need more love and respect.
I'd also like to add that his English voice actor has SO MUCH RIZZ, Franky sounds so amazing either way
Franky is a himbo with an engineering degree, and I'm glad to see my son getting the love he deserved, especially after the timeskip did his design dirty (in my opinion, even though it's grown on me)
He should've atleast kept the hairdo by default. It's too iconic.
I absolutely LOVE that he honored the Going Merry by making the Mini Merry. He knew how important she was to the whole crew, so he let her live on in tiny form.
franky truly is peak male preformance
Amen to that!!!
Franky is my second favorite straw hat. Loved him from the moment I saw him crying over Usopp’s story about the Merry.
Same
Franky is my favorite and that is the exact moment that made me love him.
And surely, all of the main characters get their spotlights, but still, my favorite scenes in the entirety of the new world have been with these three:
Jimbei, being unafraid of Big Mom, offering her the cup of Sake in order to maintain his honor until the end.
This makes so much sense actually 👏
Franky doesn't need a character development anymore since he is already there. He is now a stable pillar for the straw hats ❤
Another banger of a video. You're a genius fr. It's mind boggling to me how you can connect all these dots for all the characters you analyse.
Agreed!
He is so charming but also such a breath of fresh air I love him
prob the single most underrated character in the entire series.
Easily
Franky’s my favorite Hat on a surface level because, I mean, look at him. But he’s also my favorite on a narrative level, because the story of an inventor whose creations went on to hurt someone is really tragic to me, enough so that Franky turned himself into his greatest weapon to ensure the only one with their finger on the trigger is him.
Its always weird to remeber how old Franky actually is, he doesn't act like it at all and its great
I really like how you highlighted Franky’s development and some of his iconic lines.
I completely agree. I've been a huge fan of that pairing from the start.
Clearly not that annoyed,)
(And the most conspiratorial fans have found theoretical references to them all over the place, even down to one of Robin’s timeskip moments including numbers, in Japanese alphabet numerology significance spelling out Frobin at one point.)
He and Robin smash on the downlow and that's canon and you can't gaslight me otherwise.
REAL. Robin is a lucky woman 🥴
110% canon. She’s had her hands on the package, she took no issue then and has no doubt gotten up close and personal with the rest of him since.
Franky was the character that got me interested in one piece, his design was so wild and striking that I just had to start learning more and thus getting sucked into the whole world and story

A moment I don't hear much discussion on is when Iceberg tells Franky to forgive himself.
It felt heartwarming, since before, Iceberg told Franky he'd never forgive him.
And this was under all the goofiness of Franky's speedos getting stolen.
Just decided to rewatch water 7 yesterday and god, my love of Franky was really reignited. Adore him, so glad you made this video!
Your ability to absolutely lust for every character you analyze (except Doffy of course) is why I subscribed

Franky is easily my favourite straw hat alongside Luffy. I’ve no idea why not many people love him
I wonder the same thing!! Hes my favorite straw hat
I've been waiting for the Franky video since the start of your character analysis vids, easily my favorite Strawhat
I didn't think there was anything to analyze
Absolutely LOVED this video! Franky is one of my top favorite SH and it’s so great to see someone deep dive into his character like this. SUUUUUPERRRR!!!
Once again, you killed it. Franky is possibly my favorite Strawhat for all the reasons you addressed here.
The fact that Oda made a character do something that felt unforgivable, and turned him into one of the best characters ever is just insane.
Amazingly enough, the good timeline Franky in those drawings lean more towards his pre timeskip design
I just love every single Straw Hat. They're so complex and unique
Also I can't believe the frog that swam crole style wrestling the train made me cry, total one piece moment.
i didn't immediately love him however his consistency throughout being with the strawhats made me love his character. so dependable....
Perfect example and merry Christmas
His fight with Mr Pink is sincerely one of the peaks of One Piece, Franky is a beatiful person
Franky is truly one of the most remarkable characters for me. My second favourite strawhat
Literally the most underrated Straw hat, alongside Jinbe. Franky is absolutely my favorite One Piece character and has ever since I saw him. So seeing this video is quite nice, makes a fella smile.
Ah yes the wholesome family
Just appreciating them more now
"He stays on the same wavelength for the majority of one piece"
I feel like a lot of people demand that a character grow, but honestly flat characters can be just as good as round ones. Jack Horner from the new Puss in boots movie is a great example of a flat character
Another point at 22:47 he hasn’t built anything but himself, but also the main job of the Franky family was demolition. He charged himself and the people he has gathered with the mission to destroy the weapons of the sea. I think it’s atonement on his part to take weapons from “evil” people so that they can’t do evil deeds.
i honestly enjoy that the majority of the straw hats in present day are basically at the end of their mental journeys. they help other people just like their captain and dont need to worry too much about improving themselves anymore. i enjoy character struggles/growth as much as the next guy but it’s nice to see them all happy :)
(*sanji suffering in the background)
I pretty much cry every time Melon uploads because the content is just. Exactly what people need to hear but this time I was like;
"Oh no they are talking about Water 7 looks like the next 24 hours are weeping softly"
Franky had a weird introduction for me since his first action is beating up Ussop but his conversation with luffy as he's chasing him back to the sunny in water 7 was so wholesome, reminded me of sanji talking about the all blue
I aspecially love his interactions with Luffy, tbh x"3
There are both such open Himbos but in the same Time, Franky knows when to be logical and helps Luffy recignice the situation from that angle a bit more. On the other hand when Luffy comes up with some cracy Ideas Franky is one of the first once to say "Yo, I was thinking the same Thing! Let's do it!" X"D
Robin and Franky sure share a bond. She introduced him to CBT. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy of course, what else would it mean?
This might be underrated moment but I love how his character was handled in dressrosa arc it's small but he fights with big baby. And even though he finally defeats him he immediately knows his pain without questioning it or ask but somehow knew and ask him next time they meet their go drinking together and wait for him to open up about his love life.
I wasn't expecting it but I love how sweet and empathetic he is there.
I love Frankie. Now that he's part of the crew, I couldn't imagine the crew without him.
Im the exact same, complete opposite of him in real life yet hes my favorite character
No idea how I was able to go from despising a character as much as cranky (thought he was weird, gross, and kinda mean) to literally loving the heck out of him. No other straw hat had this kind of crazy 180. He’s such a good character I love him so much now
Need more people talking about Franky
Now viewing Franky as the embodiment of Florida man, his post time skip glow up makes a lot more sense 😂
