I wish there was more people who can appreciate the real music like this. This song is very atmospheric, nostalgic and reminds me my childhood and home..
If we cant afford to visit the beautiful forests and mountains and lakes of Finland we can just put on this song and close our eyes and we re there! Triumph in music! Thanks Wintersun!
LOTR vibes in that chorus, i think of Gondorians singing about Minas Ithil (Morgul) reminiscent of a past memory.....now under a dead sky, under the withered tree of Numenor
What a masterpiece of a song. It's been a while since I got so emotional while listening to music, but hearing the chorus starting from 4:55 to 5:35 and 9:23 to 10:25, tears just started falling, unrestrained.

Listening to this album in a forest is a must! But nothing will beat listening to Winter Madness in a blizzard, trust me! That is truely fucking epic my friend.
All their music needs to be listened to outside -- Wintersun while snowshoeing on a snowy mountain, Time I in the spring when flowers are in bloom, and Forest Seasons in the (duh) forest. Just like Blackwater Park needs to be listened to on an early winter/late autumn evening in the forest (preferably at dusk), Ghost Reveries needs to be listened to at night with candles, Still Life needs to be listened to in heavy October mist, etc.
You have given me a whole new album to sing all day and for that i thank you so much. Awesome album and i cant wait to hear Time II :D May the future of metal be blessed with many wintersun albums
I found this beautiful Forest near my home, it was magical, just like that in the pictures and I loved it. I sat on the stone, listening to this song. I just sat there. Letting this song play over over until I realized that sun is already setting. I sat there like 4 and half hours just listening to this song and I truly understood these lyrics and I understand the feeling Jari had when he discovered that forest first time. I love Finnish nature.
As a Wintersun fan since ~2005 who has listened to every Wintersun song hundreds of times (aside from the Time Package, still working on reaching that number) I think I've decided that this is their best song.
Since I received my crowdfunding package last Thursday, I have listened this album through like 20 times, and it just keeps getting better! A masterpiece!
To the people who are upset by this album, I understand. It’s different. It’s gritty, it’s raw, it’s folky, it’s black metaly: It’s not that classic melodeath Wintersun. (If you need to get your fill of that, check out Aether Realm’s new album, Tarot) My first impressions of the Forest Seasons were that of severe disappointment and shock, which led to states of near anger. So I gave it a day and tried to listen again. And it’s growing on me. (You need an open mind for this one). I happen to enjoy old school black metal and that’s helping me appreciate this album for what it is: different. What people need to realize is that the best artists adapt. They allow the work to take on a life of it’s own. When Stephen King starts out writing a book he might have one story in mind and by the time he’s completed his tome, it’s something completely different. Maybe Jari and the boys started writing this album and it evolved throughout the process? Maybe the further they went down this road the more honest and true it felt to them? Maybe they just squeezed this one out to fulfill their contractual obligations and took the opportunity to experiment a little? …and that’s cool. To sum it up, my experience thus far with the Forest Seasons is kind of like having a child… You and your wife are trying to have another kid and it’s taking forever to get pregnant. I mean, forever. Then one day you find out there’s a baby on the way and the doctor tells you you’re having a boy. Your other two children are boys. So this makes sense. And for 9 LOOOOOOOOOOONG months you think you’re having a boy. Then the big day comes and out pops a girl. There’s that initial wave of surprise and WTF IS THIS?!!?!!! Then you take a step back and get some perspective on it. Time passes. Before you know it you’re playing house, feeding baby dolls and wearing pink paw patrol shirts because it makes her happy. And you realize, “Man, it’s not that boy I thought I wanted, but I can’t imagine life without this little girl.” Ultimately you’re just thankful you were able to have another kid at all. So thanks Wintersun, for this beautiful baby girl! It’s only been a few days but already I’m learning to like her.
The Summoning inspiration really explain a lot about people disliking. I was kind of discouraged although I loved Forest (live) version of 2015 but now that they don't like the epic approach I know that I will totally love it.
This is the cutest quote I've read, but you're right. I dig this album since the day it came out,but it's weird to listen it the first time, isn't bad, it's awesome, but you were waiting for something else. After all, this is a masterpiece as the two past albums were.

I can remember last summer when me and my girlfriend first discovered this song and it was live,it had been named "Forest" because nobody knew the songs true name ofc,it was bad quality but still it took our breaths away and even though my girlfriend never liked screaming metal she was possessed by the song hahahaha Jari you really did it not just now with this beautifull new album, you did it that day when you decided to leave Ensiferum and start something new, something on your own, something from your heart...you created Wintersun! The best thing that could ever happen not just in Metal world,in every aspect of any music in this world! You are a Motzart of our modern age! Thank you so much man,you are like a brother to me!
Jari, your music speaks to me in so many ways. So glad to hear you're finally able to make music again and hope that you guys can get a studio after another project, we'll support you through thick and thin. This is an amazing album anyway, can't wait to see what you guys bring out next! Also, please come to Scotland!
Love how 5:40 and the resulting guitar solo sound like a forest fire. Where i come from it gets really dry in the summer and we usually have a forest fire at least once a year. The beginning sounds like a kindling going into a full blown fire when the guitar solo hits. Awesome.
You are awesome Jari, thanks for this. Great job, I have never heard such a climatic masterpiece. You are the best artist ever! Can't wait for yours next album. Greetings
Such a masterpiece, Great work Jari. It's great to know that there are still some musicians today, who do create art without being influenced by commercialism!
Great song. It deserves to be played once with a full choir. It already sounds great but mixing low vocals with higher ones will make it even more epic i think. Especially the last part.
After knowing your music for a couple of years I have come to the conclusion that this is my favourite song of all time. Absolutely epic! I can't wait to hear what Wintersun produces next.
I feel that this song has the same style but in a different way than the previous songs. You got me confused in a good mysterious way guys. Greetings from Algeria

I've been kind of annoyed with Wintersun for all the bullshit floating around. I also didn't "understand" Time I when it was released. However after hearing Awaken from the dark slumber, I rushed to buy The Forest Seasons and it is now my favorite album of all time! No album has had such a deep and profound effect on me than TFS and I love every second of it! Thank you Jari and Wintersun for this masterpiece! PS: I gave Time I another chance after listening to TFS and I like it too now haha.

Jari...My god, another masterpiece that you have created, not just the song, but the whole album ! I can't think in any band that all of their albums are masterpieces and don't have ANY bad song on it. I really appreciate your hard work and the passion that you put in every single song to make us have an different experience in each song. And I'm sure that when Time II be released is because you think that is perfect, and I can't wait for that !
This is so warm and so soul friendly I can't really compare to anything else, it makes me wanna go to a forest and listen to it there over and over! Just seen them live in Bristol, I only wish they were the main act.
So much this. Everything became clear to me when Jari mentioned Summoning as an inspiration for The Forest Seasons. The guitar tone and even the playing sometimes is so much Summoning (check isolated lead guitar tracks for Summer, they scream it). Also those synths after the breakdown are 100% dungeon Summoning style. I thought the production is bad but now I see it was intentional. I still don't like it to a degree but at least now I know it was meant to be this way.
You are so right! now that I listened. I didn't appreciate in the 2015 version because of the quality. And it is not something out of nothing I searched and even Jari post comments about Summoning. How is th is, one of my favourite groups inspired by my all time favourite group!! Now I understand the hate about this album!!! They didn't understand at all!!! Is just like reading a 0% review about LMHSYF....
This fucking chorus man. I blast this in my car and sing the hell out of it. My favorite song from this album keeps changing. No regrets crowdfunding this.
Simple brains cannot listen to this song (and similar other songs) Your brain must have the ability to appreciate and understand the complexity. All I can say is WOW. How beautiful a song can be
Every Song is fantastic. I am totally addicted to the Album. I loved the both other Albums a lot too and still do. I know Jari will not see what I write here But I have to thank for the music. I hope I can give one day a piece of music back to you as thank. Its in progress and I hope I can make you a Fan then too like I am of your music. But it will take a bit time till it comes😉
Kevin Murillo I have listened to this whole album while playing Skyrim and again hiking the rockies of Colorado. These experiences were nothing short of amazing. Words can't even breach the surface.
Someone Stole My Sweetroll that's for sure amazing! I have listened to Arkona, Amon Amarth, Ensiferum and several Wintersun songs while playing it, but not this album. I'll try it. ;) Btw, your voice is sweet and you have a good taste, you just earned a sub.
I couldn't help but get emotional listening to this! Such a profounding sound and whole lot of epicness in not just one song, but all! Jari and Wintersun thank you for creating this amazing masterpiece! ☆☆☆☆☆
Well done to you for making these beautiful songs Jari!!These are songs that even if you don't like them, you have to admit that they are masterpieces...Great job...
The choir of this song is so massive. To hear it put together and layered so effectively is great. Also liking that the drums sounds as organic as the song itself. Typically drums are overproduced and act as a hindrance in the song (case in point: Blind Guardians Beyond the Red Mirror). But these drums are just right.
TFS strikes a good balance with the drums yeah. Beyond the Red Mirror's drums are overproduced which isn't exactly a good thing though I greatly prefer it to what Ensiferum has been doing lately with applying no production to anything at all.
Vivaldi would be proud of ya. Well despite the fact that you have only album name in common with that awesome classic music composer, but you've done it your way - the pagan way...thanks... \m/

I am the moss in the ground
You are the light that cuts through the stone
I am the worms in the dirt
I am the branches reaching the sky
You are the source, the orchestrator of life
In the dark rain the gray mountain sing
A sad song of winter and the howling wind
Visions of the pass in the haunting dreams
Under the dead sky, under the withered trees
The night fall upon the forest that weeps
Father of shadows that forever sleeps
I saw the lakes that shimmer
I heard the clanging of the wild rivers
You are voice that carries throughout the land
I felt the strenght of my ancestors
As i walked through the land of the dead

Every instrument, note, word and vocal fits perfectly and support each other the probably best fiting way.
Cant stop listening you guys at least for half an hour/day.
Just discover wintersun and it's really amazing :D
you're in for a treat man!

YOU ARE THE GOOSEBUMPS IN MY EARS
fuck me how awesome is this song ?
Literally just discovered this band 2 minutes ago and I already love um lol
Oh I love the french horn part so much! And the great guitar riffs, the choir and ... uhh I simply love everything of this masterpiece!
This is so warm and so soul friendly I can't really compare to anything else, it makes me wanna go to a forest and listen to it there over and over! Just seen them live in Bristol, I only wish they were the main act.
Some summoning vibes in here, that's nice
So much this. Everything became clear to me when Jari mentioned Summoning as an inspiration for The Forest Seasons. The guitar tone and even the playing sometimes is so much Summoning (check isolated lead guitar tracks for Summer, they scream it). Also those synths after the breakdown are 100% dungeon Summoning style. I thought the production is bad but now I see it was intentional. I still don't like it to a degree but at least now I know it was meant to be this way.
can you link me? is a dream, Wintersun doing Summoning-like things :O
Definitely didnt expect to see your comment here. You sir have fine taste.
So much love for this entire band 😊😊😊
I've been listening to this one a lot during the past week while working and while biking forest roads
This is amazing I just booked my air tickets to see you in Athens in October I love wintersun... ❤❤❤
This is 140% pure art! Time II make a new album!
This fucking chorus man. I blast this in my car and sing the hell out of it. My favorite song from this album keeps changing. No regrets crowdfunding this.
love the fact that they released the instrumentals as well. spring and summer are amazing instrumental works.
Masterpiece. Whenever i want to feel free or inspired i m listening to this. 8:30 always give me the chills.
yeah me too thats the part that makes me think everything will be alright at some point
Simple brains cannot listen to this song (and similar other songs)
Your brain must have the ability to appreciate and understand the complexity.
All I can say is WOW. How beautiful a song can be
Congratulations Jari! One hell of an epic album! ❤
I am obsessed with all the tracks! This album is just AMAZING!
In this moment with the summer rain and a cloudy day
Hails from México city
Skyrim + Wintersun = Epicness!
I'll try it. ;)
Btw, your voice is sweet and you have a good taste, you just earned a sub.
I enjoy spending time at Winterhold for this.
Ohhh my, I love this band so much!!
I couldn't help but get emotional listening to this! Such a profounding sound and whole lot of epicness in not just one song, but all! Jari and Wintersun thank you for creating this amazing masterpiece! ☆☆☆☆☆
RIP Summer, see you next year!❤️
This Track reminds me a bit of LOTR soundtracks :D
Great! Fucking awesome Chorus! BIG LOVE! Can't Stop listening to this Wonderepic Song! BIG THANK U! ...from the Forest of Switzerland :D
I loved this song from the very first moment, for me it is perfect. Thank you Jari.
Jari... You f**king legend! Great work (as always), great album! Keep it up Jari, we just can't wait for Time II!
Holy shit. This is epic!!!!! The whole album is a master piece. Its really something different. An i looooove it🔥😍💪👌🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Well done to you for making these beautiful songs Jari!!These are songs that even if you don't like them, you have to admit that they are masterpieces...Great job...
9:02 That's very Summoning
fuck yeah it is!
Hail Summoning \m/
Never even thought of Summoning, you're totally right, nice haha.
indeed! :D and it was in the 2015 version already!
I thought the same man !
i feel compelled to fight a troll with a battle axe
That's not exactly what the song is about, but... hell, why not? Battleing a troll is NEVER wrong.
@@Oidewuaschthaut Especially when metal is playing.
Though I would use this song for hunting wild elk for my next meal and fur cover, on a cold tundra.
You weakling. An axe to fight a troll? Kill it with your bare hands.
