My mother doesn't like metal very much but when we were on a trip to Croatia I had "Time I" on my MP3 player. I gave her "Darkness and Frost" to listen. She was shocked how good metal can be. She loved symphonical parts and she even liked growling parts. I love my mother and Wintersun! See You soon in Cracow!

Whats troubling about this comment, and the album itself, is that it is not required of one to be an expert on sound mixing in order to criticize it. Just as the idea that one does not need to be a master chief in order to realize they are being served dog shit.

I am, quite frankly, sick of all the whiny little bitches crying about the guitar not being the focal point or being too quiet. Look, I've been playing guitar for 14 years... I play it BECAUSE it stands out and is a killer instrument to be bad ass on... but I am glad is takes a back seat here... composition is key. People and bands are way too fixed on "oh hey, we have this instrument, it has to be in every song"... or that idea that guitar HAS to be the lead. Part of what makes music great is omitting parts... the lack of something makes having it just that much better.
For me, Wintersun has, and always will be, about atmosphere. The fact that the guitar blends in and DOESN'T overshadow everything seems to give more atmosphere. If you listen with good headphones, you'll notice that the rhythm has this driving pulse... the bass and drums are amazingly tight and give a lot of feeling to the songs... the guitar is almost like a keyboard, it just adds a harmony over this heavy and fucking killer rhythm.
We know jari and teemu can play guitar better than almost everyone on this planet. They know it too... just put on some headphones and enjoy how awesome this album really is.

This album is more focused on lyrics and athmosphere ,give it few listens and it will grow on you !

How was Eternal Darkness? Havent ordered the album yet, but will shure do it soon.
Im expecting a second crowdfunding with a double album. Since if you watch the original video they guaranteed 3 albums worth of material to tide over until Time II. They got 2 crowdfunds worth for one crowdfund so it's sensible for this second and final crowdfund they will do to give us another more raw double album. Much like what Time as a whole 80 minute record was intended to be. But again, like TFS, something Jari would be happy with making with the current music making space resources he has.
James Peterson 80 minutes is not a double album no matter what any band tries to con you with two discs.

This song and autumn introduced me to black metal. After some digging, i found an album called Slaightersun (Crown of the Triarchy) by a Swedish band called Dawn. Incredible album, check it out!

I've been waiting for this album since you announced your crowdfunding at the beginning of March. I instantly bought it and the anticipation for this album helped me put through a lot of shit in my life once again. Your music has always brought me joy, a way to escape reality and go on a journey.
Things were pretty bad with my family when I found your band in 2009 during high school. Then Time I came during 2012 when my mother went through a rehabilitation from alcoholism and now The Forest Seasons when I am struggling with depression. Every time I hear new music from you I feel like the stars themselves are giving me strength and a reminder that life is a wonderful thing worth fighting for and one should not give up on it. Also your dedication to follow your dreams is something that has inspired me a lot to follow my own dreams as well.
I know all this sounds pretty cringe and unnecessary to write into a youtube comment but I wanted to express my gratitude to your band and music, never letting me down and supporting me in my life during hard times. Thank you Jari, Jukka, Teemu, Kai and Asim too. You guys rock and to me you've been my favorite band since 2009 and I hope you'll get your own studio. You deserve it. Kiitos.

I'm actually really liking the sound of this album. There's something really atmospheric about it that just clicks with me. It doesn't have the depth that the previous releases had, but I'm actually enjoying the more stripped back sound it has.

So, I've liked this song since it came out, and it's one of those songs that gets better and better with repeats, but, oh boy did it find a whole new dimension now that I've had my bouts with seasonal depression in the dead of winter. That intro and first part going through how the winter is just petrifying everything, but then parts two and three are just a big ol' fuck you to that, it doesn't last forever. I listen to this and I'm in tears by the end, but in a good way. RISE!

I really love the way you guys marketed this album prior to release. No full songs, just snippets from each song. This way, when you get your hands on the album, you don't have 2 or 3 songs that you've heard 100-300 times and are sick of listening to. Instead, there's just a vague sense of familiarity with each song.
Maybe I'm crazy, but that's easily my biggest issue with EPs.
Sick song, sick album. Forest Seasons focuses more on a thick dark atmosphere than electrifying leads like their older stuff, but as expected, this leads to the comment sections being full of know-nothing neckbeards who call this song trash because it isn't a 15 minute long guitar solo.
