    Very reasonable "achievable" style of cruising. Nice to see this type of content. Lot of other channels but this is a bust ass and make it happen to enjoy the life.

    Pretty amazing that you found an HVAC guy and he had a spare compressor ! What ever you paid, it was probably less than having a local come out to the boat.

    In the lazarette when she was cleaning the steering I couldn't help but notice that cockpit drain hose should probably be double clamped at the thru hull fitting and the clamp to the cockpit was off, I had problems with mine falling off and my cockpit was draining into the bilge..

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we are replacing the hoses so I didn’t bother clamping. It will be soon. They’re above waterline anyway

      @@LadyKSailing mine go out below the water line and one dry cracked off one day and water shot into the boat almost had a bad day if I hadn't been in there changing the oil and noticed it, I touched it and that's all it took was a wiggle then boom and my prehistoric gate valve wouldn't shut.. it took a pull off and trim, very tense !

  • @Every_Day_Adventure
    @Every_Day_Adventure 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    OK, so when Candice was down cleaning the steering gear I noticed a hose connected to a thru hull with only 1 hose clamp, that should have 2 clamps on it, unless you want to sink again.

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By abyc code this is not true. Also those are above the waterline so not of that applies

    So happy to see things starting to get back to normal. The one thing I really love about yours and many others sailing channels are the the people that are so eager to help. The cruising community seems like a very tight knit community. Keep up the great videos and as usual safe sailing to the both of you.

I love this channel and this couple because they seem to encourage each other. a man worth his weight in salt should treat his lady like a gift? to share life with a best friend can be a joyous thing. amen.

    Budget Question-So sweet that you are current on videos, makes it so much more meaningful. So in regards to the budget, what about boat insurance and health insurance? Or are you going without? Our single greatest monthly expense is health insurance, if we did not have that cost we would be banking money every month.

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thanks for watching. We don’t carry conventional insurance at all for a couple reasons. We can afford to replace the boat entirely if we need to and she’s not worth all that much, so we’re self insured in that regard. For health, you’ll find health care in most countries outside America is actually fairly cheap while remaining at high standards. Hope that helps.

    Things are coming back together well, you guys are making good progress with the repairs (very lucky to find a fridge compressor!!!) and best of all your spirits are up!!! It always amazes me how awesome the boating community is!! Did your bed dry out yet?
    That beach looks very inviting , gonna be -18 with the wind tomorrow here in Halifax! Keep up the good work and great videos!

      Hey thanks. Yes it’s always a nice surprise. Everything is dried out now which is nice. Some new parts should be here soon as well which is nice. Almost back to normal.

    OMG, I know how you feel. my windlass also stopped working. Check windlass battery. Clean all connections and contacts , then check solenoid, always have motor running to operate. Last but not least, I had the motor rebuilt like new. She works. All this to say that I feel for you. Especially when I had to haul up 130' of chain. Good luck.

    • @dmckelvie100
      @dmckelvie100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have a manual windlass

    • @dmckelvie100
      @dmckelvie100 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually Tim, you might not recognize my TH-cam name but we've chatted before, Daryl in Sarnia, but on windlasses, we have a manual one to, it won't release to free fall but will raise, we're heading down in 18 months and always thought I needed electric one, still unsure.

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s just preference. People have sailed these waters for thousands of years before windlasses were invented. The manual will be better exercise but if you can afford electric it’s nice to have. Don’t let anyone tell you an electric one is a “safety item”. It’s just not. They say that to justify the expense.

    • @dmckelvie100
      @dmckelvie100 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya I wouldn't listen to anybody trying to tell me that anyway, lol, releasing is easy, put on some gloves and let it go, my big thing would be you couldn't handle it under strain and not being able to send the wife up to bring it in.

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear ya. I always raise our anchor while Candice drives and the manual windlass has always been strong enough. No problems there

    Absolutely love watching you guys. Don’t change a thing! Bought our boat last August and plan on moving it to the gulf in a year and a half and HEADING OUT! Total newbs and loving it! Question: if you had around $4,000 to spend what dinghy and outboard would you get? Two adults around Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean. Around 9ft? So many brands.....

    • @LadyKSailing
      @LadyKSailing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey. We lucked out and got our 10”6 rib with 9.9 merc for $2200. Very lucky. I would say a 9ft hard bottom rib with a 6hp is the most common down here. I love going fast so a ten footer with a 15hp would be wonderful

I think 10 of 20 seconds is enough ;) No offense, i love the song and your video's, keep up the good work! And thanks again for the answers and advice you gave me on fb messenger ;-) ❤️
