    Did you guys see the one with the hook in its mouth?
    Those sharks and thunder ball grotto were the highlights of our entire trek through the Bahamas.
    Thanks for bringing those memories back!

      Didn't see the one with the hook in it's mouth. Though we didn't care to get THAT close to their mouths for investigation. haha

    That was fun to go alon, I’ve seen some night dialogs with red lighting. It’s great to hear your excitement at Land Ho.

    Stick a magnet to the stainless steel. If it is good quality it has high nickel content and not very magnetic. If you buy cheap U bolts (etc), coat them with something similar to the undercoating spray for cars. Or, spay with a clear sealer and put a rubber coating, or pad, between contact points where metal rubs metal.

    I have a good automatic windlass you can have if you want it. I know its good because it says "good automatic windlass" right on it. A yacht salvage company sawed out a piece of deck with the windlass still attached. We connected it to a battery at the salvage yard and it ran. Thats all I know about it. The gypsy seems to be for a fairly thick anchor rode. I got a small sample rope with it so you can see what rope will definitely work with it. It was made in Barnegat VA. USA because it says that on it too. Model number is 5/8 so its probably made to reel in 5/8 inch rope. Its just taking up space in my garage, so its yours if it will help you.

      @@LadyKSailing I'm in Merritt Island, Florida. Its where they launch the big rockets. Its about halfway up the east coast of Florida, maybe 150 miles north of Fort Lauderdale. You can email me for the address. My email is Sciencelookers@aol.com (I am an old guy, which is why I have an AOL email address). I got the free disc in a tin at the drug store when you needed to dial-up and couldn't use your phone and computer at the same time.

    Well, get used to corrosion in salt water. Make sure your fittings are 316 stainless. Some hardware stores carry it.

  • @jackpatteeuw9244
    @jackpatteeuw9244 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Where you have open fittings that might capture salt water (tops of the swage fitting) fill then with lanolin grease. Lanolin spray or grease on ALL electrical connections.

    When you get to FL buy a navy blue can of NEVR-DULL. It will clean up your stainless amazingly easy. Use a wad of material until it is black and dry.

    Sweet shots of the sharks... Close enough to see the texture of their skin! Wouldn't it be nice if they made bottom paint out of the stuff?? 🌊

    Just found your channel; great content! Do you have an episode that explains your sailing history/education/certifications? Just wondering how much confidence you had when you left the docks.

    Fortunately none of those sharks had freaking lazers attached to their heads. Bonus! Try to avoid ill tempered sea bass on your way to Florida.

    You just missed the falcon heavy launch yesterday. You are still welcome to come see the next falcon 9 launch at 5 minutes to six in the morning on April 26th if you are still in Florida then. You can stay at my house the night of the 25th so we can see it the next morning if you want. These things tend to get delayed so the best way to keep up to date on exactly when they plan to launch is spacecoastlaunches.com I live in Merritt Island, just a few miles from where they launch. I get this stuff called Boeshield T-9 that I spray on electrical connections and anything metal. It was developed by Boeing aircraft to spray all over wiring connectors and any part of a plane that they didn't want to corrode. I guess its like WD-40 on steroids. That little bit of rust staining around stay fittings is normal in salt water. Don't worry unless you start to see some broken strands in the cable. Sorry I'm not a patreon, but I spend more on my boat than I can afford because I plan to take it cruising this summer. If you'd like to get together for a beer once you are in Florida, or make arrangements to come up this way to see a rocket launch, my email is Sciencelookers@aol.com
