4:47 Pretty sure that's a QuickBooks Time login screen on the computer behind Bruce as he talks about the suspension oil filler door removal. Nice to see Canepa using the same small business software that I use! lol
Bruce, I admire your never-ending passion for the 959 and the race performance movement applied to the street. Being an old, retired Cummins Engine Company guy, we all watched Pete Schutz's career after leaving CECO and knew that big things were going to happen at Porsche...and they did! Thanks for carrying the ball to take the 959 to the absolute Ultimate level of today's technology and performance.
As an owner of an original I marvel at driving a car that was so advanced for it’s time. I applaud BC for creating an update and his comments about the size and unpretentiousness of the cars is so true. If you know, you know what they are. 🐐 PS was this video cut short?
I finally saw one of these in person on display at the Sarotoga Automobile Museum yesterday! It looks like it could be a new car just released. A sculpture with a stance to it....so beautiful. Congrats on your ownership!
+1. Could watch this a hundred times ... Anticipated seeing the Porsche 959 (grey metallic) at the New York Auto Show. . It was love at first sight. . Our '98 993 C2S will have to do .... Thanks, B.C. & staff ...
I was in love with the 959 ever since it first came out. Had all the test drive articles, books and even have one of Lewandowski's limited print books. Knew all the specs, performance figures, options etc. Then finally had a chance to sit in one in 1993, and it was magic! If I ever win the lottery this is the first car I buy!
This car means so much to me that the first time I saw one in person during Monterey car week, I had tears in my eyes and I’m a fully grown man :-) till this day this car gives me goose bumps when I see videos of it. I hope one day to be able to drive one, for now my 993 will have to do.
@Robert Greipel ... +1. Agreed. . The first sighting was at the New York Automobile Show, at the crappy old NY Collosium.. .. The cutaway schematic 959 show version gave ya pause. ..
Absolutely stunning. Amazing that these cars are going to people who will actually drive them. This is a car for life, Burgundy Red with a Grey for me...
Do the original suspension settings still work with the revised Penski shocks such as wet, ice and the hydraulic lift system? Also, do the 959's original tyre pressure monitors still work with the new wheel/tyres?
This is excellent. What happened to the rest of the interview? It would be great to also have a road test of one of these if possible. Can’t wait for you to possibly do Singer.
Hi there! The end of the video was a message from Bruce about thanks for listening and come and visit our facility once Covid-19 restrictions have lifted.
One of my favorite Porsches since my younger days. I always used to see a silver one on a regular basis inside the Laguna Seca paddocks. Must be owned by someone that works the races.
@@chrisdarin3027 Singer made regular Porsche's unattainable, and now Bruce is making a 959 into something that is updated into something slower than a 992 turbo. Just leave these things alone guys.
Chris Morlock If you listen to Singer...they will turn down a car like my mother’s 1967 911S Targa, so I have to disagree. I mean, you may have to insist, but they would advise to just keep it stock or restored to stock.
When the 959 and Ferrari’s F40 came out in the late 1980’s they were both insane cars with unbelievable performance. That being said, the 959 was a hundred times better than the F40. Comparing the two cars is like comparing two sticks that you rub together to make fire and a Bic lighter to each other. You end up with the same outcome out of both but the Bic lighter gives you fire through advanced technology that is reliable and works every time, is comfortable, easy to use and something you can use every day no matter the conditions or where you are. Two sticks on the other hand are old technology that’s harder to use and takes a lot of work to get everything out of in order to end up with the fire you’re looking for. By the time you get a fire you’re tired and exhausted and ready to rest. Then you don’t know if you’ll be able to use them again the next time you want to because if conditions aren’t just right you won’t get the same performance from your sticks or they may not work at all. If it’s not hot, dry and the conditions great those two sticks are not going to be very much fun to use. A Bic lighter you know will work whenever you pull it out of your pocket whether it’s a beautiful sunny day or if it’s raining and even when it’s cold and snowy. No matter what you know it will work and give you the same performance each and every time.
This video made me so happy to watch! I remember this car being my poster car when I was in first year mechanical engineering. I was fortunate enough to see them being built in person in Zuffenhausen back in the spring of 1986, and was surprisingly able to take some pictures of them while I was on an unofficial tour. It’s great to see Canepa continue to develop the car to surpass it’s already exceptional performance!
Hi there! The end of the video was a message from Bruce about thanks for listening and come and visit our facility once Covid-19 restrictions have lifted.
You took a ultra rare icon, the holy grail Porsche and you desecrated it! The value will never be the same not matter what you do to it! In this modern era you could of reproduced the body in carbon fibre with a custom tube chassis, lowering the weight and increasing the performance very feasible. For some reason you feel like you need the clout of the 959 to enhance your product. In my opinion any and every car can be improved but why this one, Baffled!
Why not just use a 993 since your fabricating the rear end panels. The 959 is already so rare, it’s sacrilege to do this to such a milestone vehicle in the history of motoring.
Hi there! The end of the video was a message from Bruce about thanks for listening and come and visit our facility once Covid-19 restrictions have lifted.
You have right. This car is extremely rare so messing up everything is just totally wrong. It’s should be preserved as it is cause it’s a well engineered and built car. When i had the opportunity to drive ‘86 930 turbo WLS which was the “S” model and i was surprised how it was way ahead in time and it’s still can compete with the nowadays cars.
The amount of modding you put into this car, why not build a replica? instead of destroying an extremely rare low numbered Porsche. Money and brains sometimes do not go hand in hand.
I hate taking a classic like this and "reimagnining" it. Leave it alone. He's ruining them. If you want a modern performance car, buy a modern performance car. If you want a 959 with modern running gear, build a 959 body onto a modern car. Stop desecrating limited edition classics like this.
I don't see how he's ruining it, the same way I don't understand the obsession with purity. IMO, what this guy is doing is honoring the original car by bringing it up to date, giving it a chance to shine like new and to prove itself once again as the legendary car it is while keeping its essence completely intact. Now, for the second time you have a 959 that stomps whatever modern car you throw at it in the face.
So it's a resto-mod. I don't understand why you would do that to a car with super low miles like 14,000 which doesn't need restoration or modification.

Of the 299 made you must have reimagined quite a few. Magnificent work.
Over 70.
Fantastic detail and workmanship! The model tech advances are beautiful! Thank you for sharing

Amazing work but I can't help but question whether these ultra rare cars should be left alone in their original form.
I like reimagining cars if they are done well. To each his own
I agree for higher volume production like Singer, even they turn away 964s that are too nice to disassemble.
Yes I agree is this car really a 959? Or like a Singer?

Nice 959 Projekt
A true speedmaster of all... Sallute...
This is interesting, can help but wonder what one of these cost.
Is this video incomplete?

It's an amazing car, then and now. So much ahead of it's time. With its full potential unleashed it's far more desirable than a F40.
Bugatti in there just low key chillin' with the Pcars.
Sublime.
What make are those yellow jack stands he uses?
Wow! It’s clearly a great time to be a car guy....and rich😉. You can essentially buy a brand new 959 and legally drive it🤯🤯🤯🤯✊👍

i have2 1 959R in 1/87 herpa black and 1 grey in 1/64
Ok, I’m sold, it’s fast enough;)
Who are these people who give a thumbs down? I don't get the effort to even press the icon.

Purists. For me, a holier than thou pack of Karens who think 30 year old cars shouldn't be touched. Twist is...not driven either.

Well I don't know about changing a classic like...
"800 horsepower air-cooled engine"
Ok I'm convinced.
@@AzathothsAlarmClock I'll accept that.
Any trouble passing California's inane smog tests?
Would be awesome to have Chris Harris come out and give a full video review.

Sooo! You take a $4 million dollar car and take it apart
to make it $1 million dollar restomod? Illogical! Unreal!!
Obviously alot of owners disagree
Owners want to drive them not look at them. Reimagining does that keeps them relevant I'm sure the uwners know about the value

So they took apart a 1400km all Original 959....... WHY......WHYYYYYY

The value of rarity doesn't matter when you've committed to keeping it forever.
Hope one day someone will reimagine a 918 spyder remove all the electric stuff, leave the v8 and make it manual
