  • This is the second video in which Steve explains how to build the more advanced Rigs that he uses.
This is a variation on the Bagnall Bar rig, that uses Nylon instead of a bar. It is a loop rig that has a number of uses, in the video he demonstrates a wishbone rig and a pennal rig.
The rig is used to improve distance casting when conditions are harsh.

@stephenkerr1002 Hello Stephen what is a good starter kit to buy for building your own rigs?

@@davis1000000 Hi, we can build you a starter kit in the shop including a small box. I can price it up for you if you wish?

@stephenkerr1002 yes that would be great 👍🏻 it was a it rough earlier, I had a nice sized dog fish though and then a whiting but I lost a rig and weight!

So many people don't understand the use of the springs......maybe a film showing how they DO WORK providing the hook release from the lead is the right one.
Used the srt springs for years, they work fine and always release if you build the rig correctly.

Hi Lee, thanks for that suggestion. Will have a go at explaining that.

Enjoying the video’s. Could you explain which coloured amnesia hook lengths you use for different conditions / target species.

    • @stephenkerr1002

Hi David, for most of my fishing I use clear amnesia of different strengths for the target species. 10-15lb for flatfish and summer fishing, will also use red amnesia for flat fish. For these rigs not less than 20lb as this helps with the presentation in the tide. Winter fishing I use clear or black 25-30 lb as this lasts longer with the Whiting and helps if you get a Bass, Cod or Conger. Bigger targeted fish heavier clear amnesia up to 50lb and then I go over to mono for 60lb up.
      Hope that helps.
