When I look for recipes to cook I'm looking for the most unusual ones to have something out of the norm. This recipe met the criteria for sure. I had yellowfin that was swimming just hours before I ate it. I was at a dinner party and made the fish with your recipe. When I got out the maple syrup my wife said, "what are you doing?". She doesn't sweet meat. After I fixed the meal and served it, everyone loved it, including my wife. Thanks

Hi Sammy if you put a damp cloth under your board it stops it sliding while you cut.
I actually had tuna on my menu on the weekend .
Seared tuna on sautéed greens with teriyaki prawns topped with pickled Ginger turned out tasty.
Glad to see you expanding our experiences . Thanks mate

Hey mate, you should use canola oil or another oil with a high smoke point - not olive oil. That would also help with the oil going everywhere. Looks tasty!

Cracker video mate, WISH I had the sea faring means to catch tuna myself, don't live too far from the Gold Coast. A favourite in our household is a similar marinade for salmon, but the best thing you can do is add some sesame oil. A little goes a long way, but trust me makes all the difference! In terms of the great soy sauce debate we buy ours from good ol' Aldi. It's the same as olive oil there's your basic shit that gets the job done, then the premium stuff you'd use for special occasions as a finish on a salad etc. Soy sauce though? It all tastes enough the same in a marinade haha. Tight lines fella!

Great job! Love your videos. While you're talking things that are and aren't real - i.e. soy sauce - did you know that your wasabi isn't actually wasabi? From what I understand, real wasabi loses it's flavour very quickly, so for the most part the only wasabi we can buy is some sort of regular horseradish concoction. Apparently this holds true even in Japan!

@@SammyHitzkeFishing I did change the video and BTW you slice the tuna in the wrong direction. I know we aren't sushi chefs but if you're making a video about it at least have have a clue. If you're talking' about respecting the fish then look into the practice of Ike jime and make a video about that .We have so much to learn from the Japanese. Otherwise , looking forward to next Sunday with Sammy.

Darren Cook Fishing like I said in the video, I’m not a chef, nor did I say my way was the correct way to do it. But hey, looked like it worked fine to me 🤷‍♂️
Unfortunately the ikijime method, got bypassed due to the double hook up. But feel free to watch the tutorial I’ve done on that as well 👍
