Derby is a city in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States, approximately 8 miles west-northwest of New Haven, Connecticut. Derby is located in southwest Connecticut at the confluence of the Housatonic and Naugatuck Rivers.

Derby is my hometown. It has changed a lot. All the original buildings and architecture on main street were torn down. They were supposed to rebuild but never did. East Derby used to be old barns and corn fields and ponds but now it is all developed. You missed the area of the high school, Osborndale Park, The old majestic library. What made you decide to film Derby and Ansonia ? When were you here ? Looking forward to seeing some Arkansas road trips. Great channel, much enjoyment !!
Hey John, Thanks for the comment and for watching. I remember when downtown Derby had all those old buildings and when they were knocking them down, little by little - then finally they were gone. That was years ago. I was in CT in July and did town tours of about 15 towns that I used to either live in or spend a lot of time in when I lived in CT.
I was born and grew up in Milford and as a teenager I spent a lot of time in the Valley (Derby, Ansonia, Seymour, etc..) so it was a blast to drive through and see them again after being away for almost 20 years. I wish I had photos or video of the way things used to be and I think that is why I do this now. I try to document and show places so in the future we can all look back and see them as they were at the point.
I am glad that you found the video and my channel as people like you are the reason I upload. I am sorry I missed a few spots as I try to get different sections but obviously don't know all of them. Derby is a neat little place that I hope someday they bring back to life and build up downtown again.

yup its my home town as well. Lived on Caroline st down by the stop sign before you would make a right to go up to derby green and courthouse on Elizabeth st. I use to have aunt that lived right there in that apartment building next to the church closer toward little Italy deli that use to be there lol I still love it up there I live in Pittsburgh PA . But I visit all the time because all my family and friends live up there still.
I want to do this type of filming in Southern California, do you mind sharing on what equipment that you are using to film these road trips?

Are you originally from this area ? Where is your home state ? When will you be back in the Arkansas area ? I think it would be cool if you were able to have a local radio station recording in the places you travel, but your videos are great !!
My hometown is Milford, Connecticut but have lived in the Hattiesburg Mississippi area for about 16 years now. I am planning on a Texas/Oklahoma/Arkansas trip asap, hopefully before the fall/winter hours kick in. The reason I keep the radio off is primarily because of copyright issues with music, etc.. but sometimes I find it peaceful to just listen to the roads and sounds of the cities I'm in.. a little less of a distraction. I thank you so much for your kind words and support of my channel! I am working on a few new things I hope to incorporate soon and will continue to do the town tours as well.

It's a creepy place. All military. Lots of kidnappings and weird activity In woods near this region.
Not a lot of military in the area anymore. They all got eaten by the Melonheads.

Lived there 57 years and when my property taxes reached $10,000 I left. One by one every family member left. It’s awful now. And you drove around such a limited area the video isn’t good.

Some time since your comment, but the only things "military" in Derby are the war memorial on the Derby Green (in the video) and VFW/American Legion posts. You have your Derbies confused.
