This song is like a slap in your face and a kick in the gut, a important story to tell. You should react to Inmate 4859, when some one do far more than expected.

It didn’t matter if they were former-soldiers or civilians, man or woman, old or young, rich or poor. All of them will always be heroes to Sabaton for their suffering reminds us to always remain vigilant and never let such a horrible evil ever return.
Sabaton takes a different look to the Holocaust, instead of remembering them as victims, Sabaton wants to remember them as heroes.

For me the most gut wrenching part of this song is that it is a warning that is not being heeded.

Just wanted to thank you for the honest, humbled reaction. Having seen so many things that the word *abhorrent* wouldn't even begin to describe during my time enlisted and sadly in life in general; as the world spins on gives me hope that we may still live to see a spark of hope ignite a wellspring of thus unknown or overlooked compassion. Rock on, *HOAH!*

One of the things many may not know is the term "Arbeit macht frei." It roughly means "Work sets you free." It was co-opted from one of the first camps of its type, Dachau, opened in 1933, if memory serves. It was the first thing many prisoners saw when entering Auschwitz I (a separate camp than Auschwitz II-Birkenau). Just goes to show what kind of people charted out persecution of Jews and others by creating these death camps.

Speaking of war crimes During the British retreat at Dunkirk a group of 100 British soldiers got cut off and used a barn house for cover but where followed by the 14th company SS Division Totenkopf the British troops defended their position until they ran out of ammo which they surrendered expecting to be treated like normal POWS instead they where marched down a path and moewed down unknowingly by an MG42 afew soldiers luckily survived its known as the the Le Paradis massacre.

Auschwitz is an extremely sensitive subject to some people. They don't even want to think about it. Germans want to forget what happened at places like Auschwitz.
Sabaton said on their Sabaton History channel that they respected that and didn't play that song while they were on tour in Germany.

@@tertiusdejager1440 I do too bud, my entire grandfather's family died there, i wouldn't be alive if he didn't flew of Poland in 1937.
Don't know if that guy was descendent of any victim, but we weren't singing like we normally would (my friends know about my grandfather)
Just some 4 dudes listening to this and singing random sentences of it.
Not mad at the guy though, we were just shocked because we were just chilling, we were really worried that the guy had a family member who was victim of the holocaust, and stopped playing the song, we also apologized to him if that makes you feel better :)

fun fact: All camps liberated by Allies were said to be nothing but a concentration camps but all camps liberated by soviets were said to be camps for mass execution.
p.s. people have no clue what was happening in Jasenovac, where even nazis were disgusted by what was happening there.
