Trivia: The guitar riff in the background was meant to simulate the chugging of trains.. The trains that carried their victims..
    Kristallnacht: "Night of broken glass".
Otto Adolf Eichmann and Himmler were among the twisted minds behind 'The Final Solution'.

Let’s not forget that during the era of the third reich. The US turned downed most European immigrants fleeing from fascist terror, and in fact encouraged latin America to do the same. The US never had any idealogical differences with the nazis in fact Hitler was inspired by manifest destiny and the genocide perpetrated by the US against the local native population of the Americas. The US had even more strict race laws than nazi germany. Most of the western Allies had no grievances against hitler it’s precisely why he was given Czechoslovakia as they had hoped he would turn east and invade the soviets. Clearly this backfired as he invaded the western allies as well. The soviets preposed an alliance with the western powers to crush nazi germany long before war broke out, but they all refused. If hitler had not waged a war against the western capitalist nations i’m sure we would all be living in a much more dreadful timeline.

Sabaton, does not play this song live anymore (I don't know if they ever had done it in the past), because it feels weird, and wrong to really rock out to this topic. The topic is important and must never be forgotten.

Last time I were at their concert in Cracow they did sing this song, but in a really toned down version, with only Joakim playing on acoustic guitar and everyone in that hall singing calmly to show respect. No flashing lights, special effects, no nothing. It was really beautiful. And they did also perform this song in the past, there is even a few recordings around yt. After all, they sing The Final Solution to honor those who died, and who's names were lost to history.

@@joakimvhes302 I knew they have done it in the past, I'm pretty sure that I read an interview with Joakim where he said they didn't want to play it live anymore. But with your description of it, I can understand that it can be done with a lot of respect (as it should be).
Anyway thanks for correcting he, I wasn't aware of that fact.

Its because people of today are trying to forget history which is wrong i dont care if religious fanatics in ME or new nazi groups are proud of the genocide that happened i rather have the truth be open and discussed always than to hide the fact. The song should be part of the intro in every live performance either as theme mix or start of song.

Sabaton is weird for me. I absolutely love what they're doing; putting spotlights on all these conflicts, atrocities and the people who sacrificed during these times (especially for people who otherwise might not be paying attention to our world's history). Musically and lyrically they're fantastic (and Joachim's voice is heavenly), but I just can't listen to them casually because I end up getting all teared up thinking about what has happened to the people they sing about.

There was a paper from the Wannsee Conference which was lead by Himmler, which was a meeting but the Holocaust had already begun before the meeting. The language they used was also never direct like "dying by natural attrition" which could mean illness (it's obvious it didn't). There was only one copy of the document that wasn't destroyed which was owned by Martain Luther, I can't remember what happened to him either he was arrested or killed or both

I have relatives overseas my family keeps in touch with that told us about a journal my great grandmother had written and it had stuff about this. Turned out she and her family took in Jewish families to help them after all they had gone through, not all of them survived the aftermath (Some died to illnesses caused by healing injuries or sickness from the weather and elements). We didn't know about this until just last year when our family found the journals in her old chest. (We couldn't access it because nobody had the key and didn't just want to break the lock... After years the hinges rusted so bad that when my relatives were moving it from the attic to clean it the chest bust open. They found old papers from the wars, some keepsakes, journals... A lot was in there. They sent me a very old key from inside the chest that apparently opened the cellar doors of her home where they found even more thing. I never got to meet her, but I know she was around when I was born; she passed away two weeks after my birth.)

As a recommendation I'd say "En livstid i krig", translated "A lifetime of war". You ought to find the live version from Gothenburg since that's the best version there is, they sing in Swedish but there are captions in English. The song is about a young man leaving home to fight for Sweden in the 30 year war (1618-1648) and him wondering if he'll ever come home and who will remember him if he don't. There's no shame in shedding a tear when listening to that song, it's deep and epic.

Great reaction!🤘 "Carolus Rex" next! The official lyric video in English makes it easier for you to get the story, (the song is about a king of the Swedish empire) but the live version in Swedish, from Stockholm, 2020 is a lot more fun! Why not a double reaction?!😉

It's amazing to watch a reaction channel with both such a wide range of music being listened to as well as a host who is aware of the historical and societal context of the songs being played. Between this and the nuanced reaction to Tim Minchin's Pope Song - I subscribed. Keep it up.
Given your ability to add nuance and context to songs that are on the surface easily misinterpreted: I'd love to see your reaction to BoyInABand - Don't Stay in School, Rise Against's 'Hero of War' or Sabaton's 'The Price of a Mile".
Many thanks for the great content

Her Father was EXTREMLY devastated and sad whenever he tried to talk about what he witnessed but until the moment he died, he couldnt speak about it.
So yeah me as someone who was born and raised in Germany feel Very saddned whenever I hear about this Topic. Truly the most devastating thing a Human could have ever done.

When Sabaton does this song in concerts it is the ask the crowd to hold a light, they light fire pits, they do not dance or play around on stage, and they use acoustic instruments. They never have played it in Israel and they only play it on request of the venue.

I wonder how far the knowledge of this system was spread in german society, as while this was happening, the german ambassador (and Nazi party member) to Nanjing(nanking) was establishing a saftey zone for chinese civillians to escape from the brutality of the japanese army, in the famous inscident of the rape on Nanjing, his name was John Rabe for those who are interested, to summerize he is responsible for saving over 200,000 chinese civillians from the japanese, whom later repaid him when he was forced into poverty because he could not work due to his nazi party membership. Due to this the chinese public scraped together 2000 dollars (a little over 20000 in 2021 dollars) and sent him food packages each month. But the reason I bring him up is his actions seem so contradictory to what the party he had joined and worked for stood for. I can't explain it, especially seeing as according to said party the chinese he was saving was the enemy! and the Japanese his allies, the honorary aryans as the germans called them.

In Germany, we refer to the "Reichskristallnacht" (empire's night of kristels) as the "Reichspogromnacht", because the former was the name, the Nazi party used, for propaganda reasons. The second one is used, because it describes what really happened then. A pogrom. In the night of the 9. November 1938, five years, after the NSDAP (the Nazi party) seized the power, they organized and planned violent operations against the remaining Jewish population. They stormed synagogues, graveyards, shops, and houses, destroyed, seized and captured Jews and shipped them off, to concentration camps, to be killed.
The reason, we don't use the word, the Nazis used is mostly noticably, when you know the connotation of the word. Crystals are normally something beautiful and something, when shined light on reflect the light and is bright. What happened then, wasn't. And so it was renamed. As many this were. We don't have a single Hitler street, though there were many once.

  • @markus7066

This is why I will sing this song:
    Attero!
    Dominatus!
    Berlin is burning
    Denique!
    Interimo!
    The reich has fallen
We stand at the gates of Berlin
With two and a half million men
With six thousand tanks in our ranks
    Use them as battering rams
    Artillery leading our way
A million grenades has been launched
The nazis must pay for their crimes
The wings of the eagle has been broken
    Marshall Zhukov's orders:
Serve me Berlin on a plate!
    Disregard the losses
The city is ours to take
The price of a war must be payed
Millions of lives has been lost
The price must be paid by the men
That started the war in the 30's
The spring of the year 45'
The year when the nazis will fall
We're inside the gates of Berlin
The beak of the eagle is broken
    Comrade Stalins orders:
Serve me it's head on a plate
    Disregard the losses
The eagle's land is ours to take
    March!
    Fight!
    Die!
    In Berlin!
    March!
    Fight!
    Conquer!
    Berlin!
    ATTERO DOMINATUS!
    BERLIN IS BURNING!
    DENIQUE INTERIMO!
    THE REICH HAS FALLEN!
    ATTERO!

America has been so blessed through the years.... and the things kids are watching and listening to are very important on how they will be in adulthood.... being one myself (I don’t mind telling everyone I’m a kid) ..... other kids have no idea what really happened.... and how bad America has got....

  • @ChevronSeven
    @ChevronSeven ปีที่แล้ว

Like he already said, in Germany we refrain from calling November 9th 1938 'Kristallnacht', as a crystal is something of beauty and therefore it is not fitting at all for what happened then.
Instead it is usually called 'Reichsprogromnacht'. That's Reichs-Progrom-Nacht or just Progrom-Nacht.
Progrom basically means acts of violence against people that are part of a minority.
