  • I'm not sure the world needs yet another Johnny B Goode guitar lesson, but here it is anyway! Hopefully I can bring something fresh to this one. I've done my best to try and make this the most accurate, reliable and complete tutorial on this song available.

    Blues in B-flat is the boogie! Chuck Berry, Stooges, Joy Division - you are really teaching an essential rock n roll paradigm there!

    Another bit of trivia, in Back to the Future Marty McFly travels back to 1955, but plays a Gibson ES-345 which wasn't released until 1958.

    I learned this in B because of Marty. Now I have trouble bumping it down. They also never needed to push the Delorian with the train in BTF pt 3. There were two Delorians in 1885 so then could have just pulled parts. Thanks for these lessons. Amazing.

    I actually only watch older movies anymore. And back to the future I watch all 3 at least 2 x a week if I get a chance. That’s actually what got me wanting to learn this song

    Hey, great lesson, only one thing:
    Does it matter if you plat the rythm with downstrokes only or up and down?

    • @e-man2081
      @e-man2081 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I play with up and down strokes. Playing with only down strokes makes it kind of choppy, which may be intentional.

    I see your playing your jm more than the Tele now days any particular Reason? not that I don't like the jm on the contrary. also have you used the jaguar at all I've been playing one since the 60s.and it seems like no one plays them much anymore.

    Adrian, I've heard you say that you've been playing since you were ten. So that means you've been playing for about 2 or 3 years then? LOL JK!! You are a GEM! Love your style of teaching, and the way you explain it all so that even an "older" hack like me can understand! BTW, are you in England, and if so, what part? I saw The Beatles in Hamburg, Germany in '62 whilst in the Navy, then again a year later in Liverpool. And, yes, my last name really is McCartney. And, yes, we are related...cousins. Cheers, mate! :)

    Good lesson but I can't stretch my fingers very well for the rhythm

    • @robwilliford2898

      Have same problem stretching my fingers across 5 frets especially on an acoustic guitar. Perhaps daily exercises will make it achievable.

    • @keithchilvers7434
      @keithchilvers7434 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everybody's hands are different, most people use first, ring and pinky for this, I find it much easier to use first, second and pinky, just the way my hand stretches best, you've just got to try what works for you. (BTW Chuck had very big hands).

    Ya know, since you brought it up…why do ya think they left that goof about the song being in B, in the movie?
    I’ve wondered about that forever. The director had to know theres a million guitar players going, waaah!?!!

  • @jsteelman1000

    I think this is where the Beatles got the cords for Get Back

    • @TheStompboxer
      @TheStompboxer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re just chords. They’ve been around far longer than the Beatles, Chuck Berry, or electricity.
      As for their cords, Abbey Road no doubt had plenty for them.

  • @Rod-dg7fy

    The band actually does play in B. So MJ Fox was accurate. He used to be a very good guitarist and they probably bumped it to B given his vocal range. Great lesson though.
