    This is one of the best chainsaw videos I have watched and I watch a lot. My Husqvarna 345 drips oil like that as does my Echo 310 if O 7se the chain to thin or smooth down a carviing. Huge gobs of oil drip off the bar right under the oiler holes. Thanks for the great explanation.

    I notice my factory Echo 2511 bar doesn't have Oil holes. I think it oils throw the adjusting screw slot. I bought a cheap Archer carving bar of Ebay and I don't thing the adjustments slot is connected to the chain rail. Do you think I could drill a tinny hole in the rail to connect the two?

      yeah you could do that. You can clean and dry the bar real good and then grease the oiler and put the bar on. This will leave an imprint on the bar showing the location of the oiler on the bar. Drill a 1/8 hole in the middle.

    Hi there, I bought a stihl carving bar and sprocket for my ms200t, the oil is not getting to the chain..will look into this..but I was wondering...I have a ms170..I'd like to put this bar on that saw now..can I use a bar and sprocket for a ms200t..and put it on ms170?..

      lump lump yes if it is a rim sprocket, it should work.

    • @lumplump6809
      @lumplump6809 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a spur sprocket..stihl1129/02 1/4"..

      Is there a specific saw that I can buy to fit this carving bar? That is not my ms200t? I'd rather keep that for the trees..and find one like 170 with a back handle for leverage, ease of maneuverability

      I did put this bar on my ms200t and the tip heated up like in this vid..so I took it off and havent used it since.

    Great video - Cannon now have a gasket you fit after the bar to solve this issue - may I link/embed this vid to show others this issue on our website? Rob

    • @CarverKingsOfficial
      @CarverKingsOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, yes they do have a plate but you have to get one for each saw that has the issue. We travel a lot and just take our bars, so it’s easier to just bring the tape. It’s not just the cannon bars. Any small bar that has the drive channel cut through the adjustment hole will have this issue. Yes please go ahead and link.

    Do I need to do this mod with a new Husqvarna 543XP in combination with a Cannon bar?

    • @CarverKingsOfficial
      @CarverKingsOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes for sure. I do it with all my bars. If you look at the adjustment holes. the place where the bar tension pin sticks in, and the drive link channel is cut through into the adjustment hole, then you need to do this. If there is a path for the oil to get out of the channel, then that is bad.

    What will happen if I don't do this and my bar keeps on burning/smoking ?

    • @CarverKingsOfficial
      @CarverKingsOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephen Strange you will destroy your bar and chain. Eventually the chain will break or you can split the tip in half

    If my bar has been burning - what will happen to it?

    • @CarverKingsOfficial
      @CarverKingsOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well as the tip heats up it will start to wear down and mushroom over. As this advances the tip will deteriorate and start to damage the chain. This will cause exponential degradation of the bar and and chain. The result will be the bar fails and the chain. If your bar is over heating you need to make sure oil is actually getting into the channel of the bar. Not just ridding on the outside. You also should take off the back of the cutting tooth on dime tips as this will cause heating as well. Heating is a normal process of using hard nosed bars, so you have to make sure to dress the bars occasionally. Watch my other video on dressing your bars

    Use husky bars , problem solved , or buy bars without extra silly holes .

    Interesting. Something to check. All because manufacturers want to save a nickel.
