He had 2 weeks rest before this concert so he came out blazing! His manager had him constantly touring so he could skim off the top. He was also building his Electric Lady studio downtown NYC

Purple haze on GHWT actually got me in guitar. This is the very first song i ever taught my I like his later versions like this one. Because the verse cho d seem more melancholic to me.
It's just an unconventional fingering of E7#9, which was a long forgotten jazz chord at that time, and unconventional fingerings of a G and A barre chords. and then after the end of the verses, an E octave, F octave, E octave again, and D octave.
so glad the Berkeley show Purple Haze was selected, its by far the best live version, for some dumb reason most of these 1st time reaction vids use the one from Atlanta Pop where Jimi was tired but in this Purple Haze Jimi was on fire and absolutely killed it... as you just witnessed.

Just like Michael Jackson is the greatest performer of all times,, Jimi is considered the greatest guitarist of all times. This man was even one of Prince's idols, even though nobody but Jimi could play guitar with his teeth!! 💮

You guys need to look at some more Hendrix videos (foxy lady live) (voodoo child live at Woodstock) (voodoo child live in Maui )Jimi done so much in 4 years and then he was gone you guys got to understand a lot of his really really good great stuff it wasn't filmed and if it was it was really bad the video quality was so poor during that time it was ridiculous but (machine gun live at the Fillmore East) the cake that was 1969 going into 1970 back then that guitar solo put him another level nobody did that or had that sound I made that sound at that time they didn't even have that technology at that time you have to understand something Jimi Hendrix the way he played nobody ever played they didn't have technology like that to play now they have the technology and people want to compare themselves to Jimi well you can't do that cuz you have to think when Jimi only had 4 years and then he was gone '66 and 70 I just want to leave everybody but I thought just think if Jimi Hendrix had the technology they had today with all the special effects they have for the guitar today
